This is an amazing book! The story kept me guessing until the very end. Jess is involved in a ethics study and the leader of the study takes a particular interest in her. The leader asks Jess to get involved in real life situations and it becomes very interesting. The chapters are sometimes told from Jess’s viewpoint and then the leader of the study. I would highly recommend this book!

This is my second book by Sarah and Greer. I absolutely loved the wife between us, so once I saw this one I knew I had to have it! I was so excited when I got accepted for the arc.
I'm a total thriller girl its the only genre I read, this one definitely is true to the genre. It keeps you guessing throughout the whole book. I kept telling myself just one more chapter. I was totally sucked in right from the beginning! Who doesn't love a book that's great right from the start? The story is told is 2 different POVs and the chapters flowed seamlessly. I would say that it was a quick read just for the fact that it was such a good book you can't put it down. It was definitely a fun creepy read as well as suspenseful, thrilling and keeps you on the edge of your seats. I would definitely recommend this to people who love thrillers and love the suspenseful feeling while reading a book.

I was so excited to read this book since I loved The Wife Between Us! I enjoyed this book almost as much as the first but it wasn’t as twisty as I wanted it be. All in all a really good book.

Loved how the book was written in 2 perspectives. It kept me guessing and was very entertaining. A great, fast read!

3,5 Stars rounded to 4 Stars
I was tempted to read this book after reading the review of one of my Goodreads friends, i didn't read The Wife Between us (i still don't plan to read it), so i didn't know exactly what to expect from this book. It was however an agreeable surprise.
Jessica Farris joined a study on morality, conducted by a mysterious Dr Shields. What she thought to be only a few survey questions to answer turned out to be much more that, as Dr Shields slowly took over her life and stripped her of all her secrets and as she found herself entangled in a net of lies, deceits and danger.
The book is divided into three parts, i think i read the first part without a break. The idea was surprising and the execution was good, as there was an alternation in chapters between Jessica and Dr Shields telling the story, the chapters with the Dr were actually creepy sometimes, but i enjoyed them the more for that.
I liked the story, the feeling of not knowing which of the character to trust and which one is more dangerous than the others. Maybe it is all this anticipation building all along the book that made the ending rather disappointing. I don't know how to accurately describe the feeling, it was a logical ending, one we would expect; but, the way it was written off in a couple of pages made it seem too easy, almost banal. I know i am not conveying the right "feeling", let's just say, that i stayed up late at night to finish it and when i got to the end, all i thought was "That's all ??!!!!!"
One thing i want to add is related to the cover, at first glance i thought it was only a new edition of the first book of the authors "The Wife Between us" using a new Color. I know it somehow fit the story, but it didn't distinguish itself from the first book.

An Anonymous Girl started out strong and suspenseful till the end. If you like psychological thrillers, this book does not disappoint, it had you guessing all the way through the book. Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy.

This book started off strong but it started to fall flat before the 50% mark. I’m not sure what happened but I found myself very confused and I almost did not finish. I forced myself to look at other reviews and most are 4-5 stars. I mean, I couldn’t be the ONLY one not enjoying this book so i kept going. Oh I’m so glad I did. All of a sudden, things started to make more sense and I found myself wanting to devour it until the end. 4 stars for me but only because of the confusion I had through the beginning. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my advance copy for my honest review.

Jessica is a young woman with financial problems and her low paying job is just not cutting it. When she hears of a research study that pays well she is desperate to become a participant. The study is about Morality and Ethics. Jessica becomes involved In the study in a rather unethical way and that begins her downward spiral. What seems like easy money for answering difficult questions soon leads her down a path of despair and fear.
There are three main characters in this novel. Jessica, Thomas and Dr. Shields. Jessica becomes trapped and feels helpless, like an insect stuck in a web. The spider is Dr. Shields.
This is a psychological thriller that only became more addictive and stress inducing as I got deeper and deep into the story. I give this book a solid 4 stars. I received an ARC copy of the book from the publisher and Netgalley. This is my unbiased review.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for issuing me an advanced readers copy of An Anonymous Girl by authors Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. After reading their first book, The Wife Between Us, I knew I was going to be in for a treat. It puzzles me how two people can come together and write one book, but however they do it, they do it with sheer perfection. It’s a psychological suspense novel that centers around a psychologists obsession with her own husband. It’s a story of ongoing mind games and manipulation that keeps you wondering who is telling the truth and who is the real sick and twisted one. It grabs your attention right from the beginning and doesn’t let go. I enjoyed reading this so much and was pleasantly surprised at how it all ended. It’s a book I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys reading thrillers and suspense and I give it a 5 star rating. I can’t wait to see what these authors will come up with next!

Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for the opportunity to read this advance copy in exchange for my honest review! This book officialy comes out on January 8, 2019, pre-order it today!
As soon as I heard Hendricks and Pekkanen were penning another novel I could not wait to get my hands on it. The Wife Between Us blew me away (by the way, go get that book NOW if you haven’t read it) and I could not wait to see what else could come out of their 2 minds. I was not let down.
The story is about a young woman who ends up in a research study to make some extra money. The research is all about morals and ethics and is put together by a professor at a local, well known university, who should probably have her own morals and ethics checked out.
This psychological thriller is told by Jessica, the young woman, and Dr. Shields, the professor. They alternate chapters so it gives us a unique perspective and keeps up guessing throughout the novel. Just when you think this is going to be a predictable read, it’s not. There are not many twists and turns but enough to keep you interested. As we get further in to the book the characters grow and show us sides to them you just cannot predict to see. The book really picks up in the second half after the stage has been fully set.
I will say I was a little let down with the ending. I expected it to end with some big bang and it just fell flat for me. It felt rushed at the end and it just, ended. I did not get the closure I would have liked; however, it does let you know what happens with the relationship Jessica and Dr. Shields have. I would have like just a little bit more at the end to satisfy myself.
I am giving this book 4 stars. It keeps you going and guessing. I did think I had the book figured out before I got to the halfway point. That’s where the book really picks up and has left you with enough little pieces you have to read to see how they all fit together. I will say, Greer and Pekkanen sure do have some twisted minds! I hope they collaborate yet again, these ladies know how to throw you for a loop!

Thank you to netgalley for an ARC of this book.
I found this book to be a perfect slow burn. In the beginning, you aren't really sure what is happening, so you want to keep reading to find out. Once you get to the meat of the book, you don't want out of down. This book had a way of making the reader want to figure out what is going on in the character's heads, and the author is an expert at mind games.
I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good thriller, but doesn't require a lot of action. If you are someone who hates alternating points of view, this book is not for you (but you're missing out).

I was given an ARC for An Anonymous Girl by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen in exchange for an honest review.
Jessica, a working class girl, misrepresents her way into a study promising easy money. Ironically, the study focuses on morality. She signs up, answers the questions as Subject 52, then collects her check. When she is asked to return and continue the study for even more money, she quickly agrees. She likes learning more about herself and feels like this her own personalized therapy session. She meets Dr. Shields and the relationship grows closer and more focused. Jessica finds herself sharing her deepest secrets, but soon finds out Dr. Shields has a very specific agenda in mind. How far will Jessica go to gain financial support for her family? How far will Dr. Shields go to save her own marriage? This story pulls you in and keeps you reading until the disturbing end.

I was excited to have the opportunity to obtain an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of this book on NetGalley.
“Every lifetime contains pivot points—sometimes flukes of destiny, sometimes seemingly preordained—that shape and eventually cement one’s path.”*
Due to her money woes, makeup artist Jess bluffs her way into a paid spot in a psychological research study on ethics and morality. She catches the notice of the lead researcher and gets pulled in deeper. Instead of simply revealing her dark secrets, she is asked to take the study out of the lab and into real world scenarios. The payments continue to rise, as do the researcher’s expectations and the risk. Jess starts to wonder if her assignments are part of the study or something more personal. When she learns something disturbing about the last subject who gained Dr. Shields’ special attention, Jess realizes that there’s no way she can walk away unscathed.
AN ANONYMOUS GIRL is a great follow up to THE WIFE BETWEEN US. The authors keep the reader guessing about who can be trusted. Jess is a relatable character, and her determination and gumption to uncover the truth made this reader cheer. The story is told in the points of view of Jess and Dr. Shields. The researcher’s point of view is written in second person, referring to Jess as “you.” This is a bold choice, but it’s well done and effective in providing a clinical distance that fits with the character of Dr. Shields. The book is divided into parts, and each new part signifies a major revelation in the story.
AN ANONYMOUS GIRL is full of the kinds of twists and turns that make thriller lovers happy.
*Please note that my review is based on uncorrected text.

Twisted!! This story is about two main characters. Jess is a young, struggling make-up artist trying to make it in NY. She participates in a paid study through a university to earn some extra money. Dr. Lydia Shields is the psychiatrist who is running and conducting the study. The book is written from their two points of view. The NYC setting in winter added immensely to the drama.
This is an excellent psychological thriller! The whole book was tense and ominous, as the study continues and we get to know the two women well. This is the second book I have read - and loved - from Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. I loved The Wife Between Us and these authors are masters at twists and turns. I can’t wait to read their next collaboration.
This book has all the ingredients for a terrific book, including the thread of morality vs evil constantly running through it. Very highly recommended!

Jessica is a freelance makeup artist who is trying to make ends meet and pay for her sister’s care. When she signs a lucrative offer to participate in a moral and ethical study , she expects to just answer a few questions and leave but the study gets more intense and Jessica soon realizes she’s losing control of her own life.
Anonymous Girl is a fast paced, twisty psychological thriller which is difficult to put down once you start . A gripping tense read with an almost perfect ending.
I would like to thank St. Martin’s Press & NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review.

This was definitely a psychological thriller complete with the psycho psychiatrist. Jessica had lots of faults of her own but she learned to be an impressive opponent against Dr. Shields which moves the story asking. The story was rather slow but will keep readers interested with the cat and mouse games. There is a good bit of building up suspense in places and then coasting. A lot of the story I could guess but the ending fell flat.

FANTASTIC book!
I did not want to put this book down...Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen did an amazing job of capturing my attention and making my heart race!
Jessica Farris (aka Subject 52) thinks she's participating in a psychology study on ethics and morality to earn some quick, easy money. Her desire to earn money to help her family ends up getting her caught in a web of manipulation and deception when she's asked for further participation in the "study" (which of course comes with the allure of more money).
Dr. Shields is conducting the "study." I think the authors did an especially good job with her character - she's beautiful, smart, and is an expert at reading people. I could almost feel Dr. Shields evaluating ME as I read the book!
Thank you to St. Martin's Press for providing a copy for review.

“Sometimes an impulsive decision can change the course of your life. I don’t want that to happen again.”
Thank you so much (@netgalley and @stmartinspress) for this arc due out January 2019.
Jessica leads a less than ideal life: a makeup artist in NYC living paycheck to paycheck. One evening she stumbles upon a client’s text message about participating in an “ethics and morality” study. For the generous payout, Jessica jumps at it - all while not knowing what’s expected of her.
Dr. Shields, who heads the study, takes an interest in Jessica, aka “Subject 52.” She asks Jessica if she’d be willing to expand her participation - for more compensation. The more Jessica gets involved, the more strange her assignments become.
The beginning started off slow, and I began to question where this book could possibly be going.
However, the second half of the book unraveled a ton of plot twists. When I think I predicted what the study was about, I was a little skeptical and creeped out, and I needed to know more! The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end.
Overall this was a great read, but I liked The Wife Between Us better.

- a lot of plot and story
- the main "bad" character is fun
- but the other ones are meh
- explains too much at times
I think this will be a very enjoyable read for most readers. But if you're really into the mystery thriller genre, there's nothing stylistically groundbreaking or super well-written here.
I was very excited to get this book as an ARC and so muchos gracias to the publisher for clicking that APPROVE button! xoxo

This book was incredible, I couldn't put it down but yet didn't want it to end. I love how the authors expressed the story line throughout the two lead characters. The plot twisted were timed perfectly to have that jaw drop moment at the end.
