Well, it’s official. Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen have proven that The Wife Between Us was not a fluke and have solidified their spot on my list of must-read authors.
An Anonymous Girl is a lightning-fast, unputdownable thriller about Jess, a makeup artist in New York, who sneaks her way into a morality and ethics study because it pays $500 and she’s struggling financially. Little does she know that with that one seemingly innocuous decision, her life will turn completely upside down. Alone in a room for two hours at a time, Jess must answer questions about morality and ethics as they appear on the laptop screen. The questions are bizarre and incredibly personal, and her answers are being read and responded to in real time by the elusive Dr. Shields. If Dr. Shields is not satisfied with her answers, Jess has to dig deeper and answer even more honestly. The study consumes her, and eventually, she is summoned by Dr. Shields to continue the study in real-life scenarios...and that’s when things get really strange and a mighty tangled web is woven.
This book was five stars for me from the very beginning. All I wanted to do was read it 100% of the time. And when I wasn’t reading it, I was just going about life waiting impatiently for the next time I could pick it up. I highly recommend giving this a read when it comes out in January, especially if you loved The Wife Between Us! Now I’ll justt sit here and wait impatiently for another book by this dynamic duo!
Thank you so much to NetGalley for the advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

After an impressive debut with The Wife Between Us, An Anonymous Girl is an interesting and very addictive read where it’s impossible to figure out what the real motivations behind the characters are. Jess is a makeup artist with money trouble who sees the opportunity to get some easy cash by participating in an interesting psychological study. She lies to get into it, so she starts at a disadvantage when joining a study about morality. The mysterious Dr. Shields starts by asking hard questions that lead to a more involved project. The story kept throwing surprises at me, starting by the identity of the Doctor and up until the very end. When one of the characters is a psychologist adept at manipulation all bets are off. But Jess is not an ingénue who will blindly follow. She knows that she can only rely on herself so her actions are unpredictable. All the characters are so complex that they kept surprising me over and over. The conclusion is so suspenseful and heart-stopping that I couldn’t put it down.
I chose to read this book and all opinions in this review are my own and completely unbiased. Thank you, NetGalley/St. Martin's Press!

Thank you to @netgalley, @greer.hendricks, @sarahpekkanen for an advanced digital copy !
The two authors who wrote The Wife Between Us have a new book coming out in January 2019!
An Anonymous Girl tells the story of Jess, a struggling make-up artist who signs up for a study with the enigmatic Dr. Shields. What first seems like easy money quickly turns into something far sinister. This novel has everything you want in a juicy domestic thriller: betrayal, passion, secrets, manipulation, obsession, ulterior motives, and much more. How far are we willing to go for those we love?
Okay, y'all! First off, I just have to say: THE HYPE IS REAL! This is probably the best psychological thriller I have read this year. I literally could not put this one down. I found myself reading it in the middle of the night, while I was nursing my baby, cooking dinner, and every moment in between! I saw a bunch of people posting about this one, and I was SO excited when I received an email from NetGalley saying that I had been approved for an advanced digital copy. I read the first page of An Anonymous Girl, and I couldn't put it down. I read The Wife Between Us earlier this year (it was one of the first books I read in January), and in my opinion, this one was better (and I really liked The Wife Between Us). These two authors are a dynamic duo, and they have left me wanting more! I highly recommend this one! Put it on your TBR for 2019!! 5/5.

4.5/5 I have read a lot of psychological thrillers so I love it when I pick something up and it's completely different from anything I've read before. This book revolves around the relationship between a psychologist and her test subject. Both the protagonist and antagonist are just bizarre enough to keep you guessing, but realistic enough to make the plot seem real- which works well to amp up the tension. There are external love interests (of course), but the relationship between our two main characters is the most compelling part.

Jessica is a makeup consultant who overhears one of her customers voicemail messages about a study that is being conducted that will involve answering questions and being paid a handsome sum of $500 for 4 hours. Sounds easy...morals and ethics...how difficult can this be...so why is her customer not going to attend??? Jessica decides that she will sneak into this study and be a substitute and earn the $500 for herself...afterall what's the harm???
After the initial two day computer based questionnaire is completed, the PhD who is conducting the study reaches out to Jessica and asks her if she would be willing to complete a more in depth, real life study/experiment where she would be highly compensated, and she would also receive some counseling sessions. Still sounding benign and intriguing to Jessica she agrees.......and the twists and turns of the book begin!
This book is like a roller coaster ride, so buckle up, and hold on tight! The authors are sooooo clever in their writing that you will not see what is coming next....fully loaded with surprises at every turn of the page! I absolutely loved this book, and highly recommend it!
Many thanks to Netgalley and St.Martin's Press for providing an ARC of this book.

An Anonymous Girl is a precisely and intricately told story of an unexpecting young woman finding herself in a dangerous situation that potentially threatens her life. With the hope of earning extra money, Jessica enrolls in Dr. Shields psychological study in which the questions become troubling. Things get eerie when Jessica meets the doctor and she agrees to take the study further. Tension runs high throughout the narrative. The characters are well drawn and readers will find themselves wondering if any of the characters are trustworthy. What are they capable of and what are their secrets?
I found this to be an outstanding book. It is a true psychological thriller that keeps readers totally engrossed throughout and right up to a surprising conclusion. Highly recommended.
.

I actually enjoyed this novel more than than the duo's past work The Wife Between us. The premise and the pacing were very interesting and I feel like the speed of the action worked well for its purposes. I feel like some novels draw out the tension too long but this one had the right amount of tension but also doubt for a psychological thriller. Enjoyed the characters, even the evil ones, and I liked that our main character stuck up for herself in the end.

Interesting story with an intriguing concept. While it took me a little while to get into the plot, it kept me reading and I did enjoy the story. Great twists. Would definitely recommend to other readers.

This was very disturbing and a dramatic departure from the books I previously read by Sarah. However, it was suspenseful and well written wondering whom led the charge against unsuspecting girls. I would read it again.

First and foremost thank you @stmartins.
To say you always know what I need is grossly inadequate.
.
To Greer Hendricks. All I’m going to say is well played ladies. Well played.
.
To be fair. I was not a huge fan of The Wife Between Us. If I’m staying true to myself, I think I was thrillerd out last year. However, these ladies weave an addictive tale and An Anonymous Girl was no different. In my opinion it was better.
.
An Anonymous Girl was so different. If a thriller is going to work for me (lately) it has to have a different premise than the cookie cutter situation that has been so prevalent these last few years...since The Book. You know the One that everyone compares a thriller to. I loved The Book. But that doesn’t mean I want all thrillers to follow along. Thank you @greerhendricks for bringing a completely different premise!!
.
Y’all know my style. I’m not going to speak to in-depth about the synopsis. This novel is told from two different POV’s...the psychologist holding a study on morality and one of the participants.
.
That’s all you get. I would recommend this novel. The set up is well thought out. The idea completely original. The writing absolutely addictive. You will want to preorder this book to be ready at your bookstore or your library in January on release date! This is going to be a popular one coming off the wildly loved The Wife Between Us.
.
I’m settling on four 1/2 stars.

This book was amazing. Greer and Sarah have done it again in this mystery/thriller. A woman sneaks her way into a study for women aged 18-32. It’s a morality study but does Jessica really know what she’s getting herself into? A story of deception and obsession unravels in this book. You won’t want to put it down!

I loved The Wife Between Us but enjoyed this one even more. The twists and turns. The perfect pacing. The believability of the characters. Six stars!

Jessica sneaks her way into a psychological study on ethics and morality. Her answers intrigue Dr. Shields, who decides to involve Jessica in a research project involving her husband's fidelity. At first Jessica dives headlong into the project, but once she meets the husband and he warns her about Dr. Shields Jessica begins to question the project and Dr. Shields intent.
I thought this book was a bit too predictable. There wasn't much suspense, the book unraveled just as I expected. Although I found Jessica to be a well rounded character, Dr. Shields and her husband seemed very stereotypical. Overall, a bust.

AMAZING!!! It really kept me guessing to the very end!! Made my heart pound, made me really feel for the characters.

I received an ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This book tells the increasingly tense story of a young woman whose participation in a research study may not be all that it seems. It is told in first-person chapters alternating between Jessica, the young woman, and Dr. Lydia Shields, the psychiatrist running the study. Jessica and Dr. Shields are both well-developed, interesting characters, and the story is deliciously, deliberately ambiguous about who you should or should not trust. As with their debut novel, this book is well-written and well-plotted. But while I thought The Wife Between Us was a bit forced in its “the next Gone Girl” style, I found this story more original, and ultimately more satisfying. Highly recommended.

This book was amazing! I enjoyed the author's first book and this one did not disappoint. Thanks for my copy!

I don't know how Greer Hendricks come up with these stories. Just like The Wife Between Us, An Anonymous Girl keeps the reader on a ride with twists and turns. Unlike with their previous book, this time I was able to predict a few times what I thought was coming but there were still many things that happened that I did not expect.
I felt like I was torn. I didn't want to put the book down yet I was scared to know what was going to happen. I really didn't get anything accomplished this weekend except reading this book. I had to know how it was going to end. This story does present some questions about what a person would do when faced with moral decisions.

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC.
Well written, suspenseful. Better than their first book. Really good story. Page turner, satisfying ending.

good read. easy. fun kept me interested the entire book. will recommend to friends. thoroughly enjoyed.
