What a great, fast paced read. This is definitely one that I will be suggesting to my patrons! I appreciated that there was very little explicit language. This book will appeal to a wide audience. I also enjoyed the physiological insights throughout. Just an excellent read!

"Sometimes an impulsive decision can change the course of your life."
Because Hendricks and Pekkanen did such a great job on The Wife Between Us, I was thrilled for the opportunity to read An Anonymous Girl. Combine this writing team with a study on ethics. As a psychology major in college, I'm familiar with research studies.
Jessica, a make-up artist, joins a study on ethics and morality because of the compensation (money, money, money). Money and morality intersect. Burgundy nail polish, an ecru wrap, and texts play important roles.
While reading, you might want to consider your own answers to the questions on your personal ethics. Shudder! Who among us is perfect? A thought-provoking thriller with twists. Ethics, morality, money -- how far would you go?
I had one question about the plot after I finished the book, but don't want to ask it here ..... would be a spoiler. Am eager for Hendricks and Pekkanen's next book!

OMG! WHAT? WHAT? WHAT? That was basically my mind throughout this entire book. I was completely hooked from the first page and I have to admit after the author's first book The Wife Between Us my expectations were very high for this book. It did not disappoint. Reading this was like following a very intricate treasure map- in the most exciting way. Everything from the characters to the setting of NYC to the plot was written in perfection. Such detail and such genius- this is a thriller not to miss!
Thank you St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for the ARC and incredible on the edge of my seat experience!

You're in a tight spot for money, and an opportunity appears to have fallen in your lap to earn some quickly. What started as a simple and quick weekend survey turns into more and more lucrative opportunities...if you'll just follow blind instructions from your charismatic tester...
I loved this book. I anticipated that I would, because I loved the authors' previous book "The Wife Between Us". This was a one-day binge read for me; I just got so excited to see what was around the corner and next.
Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen are stars at weaving stories centered around relationships. Husband and wife, parent and child, friends, siblings, boss and employee, clandestine lovers - this tale really entirely relies on codependent relationships. And don't we all have one relationship that is just a tad too codependent? What happens if that codependency turns threatening? Can someone you know intimately be your biggest threat? As the tester in the book questions - "have you ever hurt someone you care deeply about"?
There are so many layers in this book. It's a psychological, interpersonal thriller of the best kind - it truly took me to the end to decide who the protagonist really was. The only characters that I really loved weren't central to the story - but they seemed so pure. Our main players all had likable characteristics - and they'd all been wronged or hurt in different ways, eliciting reader sympathy - but I never truly grew to like them - and I never trusted any of them. The ending was fantastic, and unexpected. You think you know something and then the rug pulled out from under you several times in this book. The surprise element is really what kept propelling me forward to read this entire book in an afternoon!
Highly recommend; you won't be able to put it down!

This book is a thriller that you won't soon forget. I read it in one day and was still thinking about it several days later. Jessica is a makeup artist that is helping her family with expenses. She hears that there is a psychiatrist who is doing studies on a morality and ethics research project.. She will be paid for this. Dr Shields is in charge of these studies.. Jess is now Subject 52 and she signed NDA so she can't discuss things with anyone..Dr Shields asks her questions about whether she would lie or cheat and a few other things. She begins to send Jess to bars to pick up a man that she has chosen. . Dr Shields gives her gifts and begins to think she owns her. She gives Jess more money and continues to ask her to do things. Jess finds out that one girl in the study has committed suicide. Jess finally figures out that she is because my used as a pawn in some depraved game she is playing. Dr Shields and her husband are all involved. This is a great story of deception, lies and deceit. I really liked the story.. The characters all had their own agenda. Surprise ending when all the secrets come out . I definitely recommend this book . I received this book from Net Galley and St. Martin's Press for a honest review and no compensation otherwise.

I could not get through this book fast enough. I had no idea what was really going on until the very end. The suspense was great. The ending was a bit disappointing because it felt forced. It just didn't fit with the character I had built up in my mind. With that being said it was still one of the best books I've read this year.

This book was amazing, could not put it down. It's a psychological thriller and a good one. I would have thought switching the point of views between the protagonist and antagonist would have ruined the plot, but far from it. It made me feel like I was between the characters and made the book almost a little darker of a read. I don't want to say more, it would give away too much, but I enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.
Please note, I received a copy of this book from NetGalley, but that did not influence my review.

I received a free e-copy of An Anonymous Girl by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen from NetGalley for my honest review.
I was thrilled to receive this book, having loved The Wife Between Us! I dove right in and couldn't put it down. This book, just like The Wife Between Us, is a psychological Thriller.
An Anonymous Girl starts off with a psychology experiment. Jessica needs money, so she signs up for a study to earn some quick, easy, extra cash. A harmless computer questionnaire at a University. Seems easy enough, right? The questionnaire consists of very personal questions. After she completes it, she is contacted by Dr. Lydia, who is in charge of the the assignment. She tells Jess that she was chosen to continue and she would be paid, of course. The questions grow more intense each day though, until Jess is suspicious of who she trusts. So many lies, so much deception and what seems like no way out. . . .

Wow this yet awesome thriller from St. Martin's Press! Thanks so much to SMP and to NG for the ARC!! I could not put this own down once I started it. Jess is a struggling makeup artist who manages to sneak her way into a research study at NYU to earn some extra money. Little does she know that she is soon to become involved with a very twisted research psychiatrist who will begin to control her every move. Both character are very well-written and will immediately draw you in because they are also both intelligent and will not stop until they get what they want. Jess doesn't appear this way at the beginning but the more "research" work she does for Dr. Shields, the more she changes. Don't want to divulge too much about the plot. Definitely do not miss this gripping suspenseful mystery!!! Fabulous story and loved the ending as well!!

This one had me hooked right away and will be a definite must read for plenty of people when it comes out. Jess participates in a study done by Dr. Shields thinking it will be easy money. What Jess did not know was how wrong she was. This book is filled with suspense, obsession, and deceit. I really enjoyed this one! Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this in exchange for a review.

LOOOVED this book!!!! I thought I had it figured out and it kept twisting and throwing me off. Highly recommend!!!

Great book. This story sucked me in from the beginning. It kept me on the edge of my seat, and I couldn't put it down until I had finished it. Love, love, love this writing duo.

There is something incredibly unique about Hendricks and Pekkanen's writing that elevates this thriller above so many of the rest. An Anonymous Girl is twisted and suspenseful in a way you hope each thriller will be - it was truly impossible to put this book down.
I gave this book a well deserved 5 stars not just because the plot line was so well done but because the writing was exceptional. This is not a simple thriller - there is nothing simple about this book. It's unsettling, terrifying, and unnerving. An Anonymous Girl succeeds at every level - an accolade I have not been able to endow on a thriller in a long time. Very rarely does a psychological thriller touch on so many different themes and concepts while remaining addictive and surprising. Very, very well done.
Thank you to St. Martin's Press and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this title. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Only time I had to put it down was potty break!
5 hours later, my dog is REALLY jealous of this book.
Holy cow! What a roller coaster ride. A total mind games! Something that should should scare the hell out of you more than the zombies! Seriously! There were layers of plots, twists, and surprises that kept my attention. I did NOT want to put the book down. There were some highlights I wanted to added on here but I’m going to wait til close to publishing date. I’m amazed how these two incredibly talented ladies wrote this book together. The only reason I gave it a high 4 stars was cause of the ending. Thank you for restoring my faith in thriller/suspense/mystery!
I received this ARC of this amazing thriller book from Net Galley and St. Martin’s Press for my unbiased review. Thank you! I really enjoyed the ride!

Not since Donna Tarrt's "The Goldfinch" have I suffered through a book this long. I am not generally a slow reader -- I usually blow through Sarah Pekkanen's books in hours. WZhile her first collaboration with Greer Hendricks was very engaging, this one was just too long, too drawn out. For a psychological thirller/suspense attempt, it was not even all that surprising. It's the sophomore collaboration...I just hope the next will be more promising.

3 stars: I really liked the format of the book, chapter perspectives alternating between the two main characters. The plot line was interesting and kept me entertained. During a time where psychological thrillers are over-populated in new releases, I look for something unique to the story to set it above all the others. I didn’t find that with An Anonymous Girl. While it wasn’t completely predictable for me, it also wasn’t shocking. If you like thrillers and suspense, I would definitely recommend this as an entertaining read!
Thank you to Greer Hendricks, Sarah Pekkanen, the publisher, St. Martin’s Press, and NetGalley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

I love the writing style of these authors together!! This is the second book of theirs that I have read & I couldn’t put either down. Jess is such an easy character to like. You worry about her as she enters into this psychological study & you understand how she feels about the questions. It is shocking how she gets drawn into the life of the doctor who is in charge of it. Loved the twists & how you still had things to figure out until the very end. A must read!

This is a taut and riveting psychological suspense. The tension keeps on building chapter by chapter and you can't put this book down. Jessica sneaks into a psychological study on morality. What transpires then is nothing short of horrifying. Psychological mind games are played throughout this book. You don't know who to believe. Once again Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen have woven a story so deep that it entrapped me in its pages. The characters are complex and richly developed. You will know them. The writing is exquisite and the dialogue mesmerizing. This story will make you question everything. I felt the fear and confusion. This book keeps you so focused that nothing else matters. I highly recommend this book to all who want a read that keeps you guessing. Amazing book!! Thank you to NetGalley, Bookish First and the publishers for one of the best books that I have read this year. All opinions are my own.

This book was just as good as The Wife Between Us and is such a perfect psychological thriller. I couldn't put it down and read it in less than 24 hours.

OH MY GOODNESS!!!
This book was FANTASTIC!!
I loved their first book - The Wife Between Us, so when I had a chance to read An Anonymous Girl, I jumped at the chance. I love the writing styles of Greer and Sarah. They flow so seamlessly together.
These characters are so well written, you feel as if you are there with them, watching everything unfold. The twists and turns in this book are delicious and perfectly timed. Just when you think you know whats happening, they change the way the game is played.
This book is an original story line, that will reel you in and keep a hold of you until the very last page. And when it's over, all you'll be able to think is WOW.
