I am a really huge sucker for a great, twisty, and thrilling, well...thriller! And although An Anonymous Girl wasn't necessarily "twisty" it was thrilling and got my anxiety peaked a few times and I really enjoy that in a book. I would pick up the book and have a hard time putting it down because the authors did so well at presenting to us two women, with two stories, that seem to collide in the most bizarre way.
An Anonymous Girl was a thought-provoking read. Plain and simple. I really enjoyed the logic behind this book and coincidentally enough... the morality of it. The way these characters were tested and came together but also came apart really piqued my interest in the best way. As a whole- it pulled me in from the beginning and wouldn't let go until I was finished.
The writing, the alternate POV's, the way the authors slowly peeled back Dr. Shields for us and how she was behind the facade really caught my attention. Are people ever really what they seem? I love wondering about the possibilities and I wondered the entire time about her. What was her catch? When will we find out who she really is?
These two authors are an incredible team. If you even kind of liked The Wife Between Us, you'll really love An Anonymous Girl. I think they went to a level where most authors haven't went yet and I can really dig that. I was surprised with how original this book was as a whole, something that hasn't been done for and for that, I am grateful. I love opening a new book each time and reading something that hasn't been read by myself yet. And with this one, I felt that the entire way through.

Wow. This was a book that was hard to put down because you jut have to know what will happen next. Very will written and hands down will keep you coming back for more.

I really enjoy Sara Pekkanen's books and devoured Greer Hendricks' and Pekkanen's novel "The Wife Between Us". As soon as I saw this novel, I knew it would not disappoint. I devoured this novel in 2 days; reading as much as and as often as I could.
This is a fascinating psychological suspense novel that grips you from the beginning. The story line is great, the characters are excellent and the twists and turns keep you interested and engaged. Every time I thought I had something figured out, it turns out I was wrong and things kept changing. But, not in a bad way. They made sense to me and I understood how they could be true.
It is more difficult as an avid mystery reader to keep my interest and not see the end coming. This book proved to me that keeping readers engaged and fooling them is still possible; even more desirable!
I won't get into the plot details, as the blurb gives the perfect amount of information and intrigues a reader on it's own.
This novel about love, morality, betrayal, and the human psyche is riveting. Read it as soon as you can get your hands on it.
I would like to thank NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

Interesting story about “crazy psychologists” but it seemed to drag in parts. At times, I thought it would never end. Still rather entertaining in most parts.
This was an ARC: Pub Date 08 Jan 2019

Seeking women ages 18–32 to participate in a study on ethics and morality. Generous compensation. Anonymity guaranteed.
Sounded intriguing to you? You might want to think twice before you agree to this assignment.
Jessica Farris, a 28-year-old makeup artist in NYC, signs up for a psychology study to help out her family who are in financial distress. She thinks all she has to do is answer a few questions, get paid, and the study is over. But as study conductor Dr. Shields’ questions grow more invasive and the sessions become situations where Jessica is told what to wear and how to act with people, her paranoia starts to set in. As her bank account begins to grow significantly, Jessica finds herself trusting Dr. Shields, until she quickly learns some obsessions can be deadly.
Even though this book doesn’t release until January 8, 2019 and I have a ton of ARC’s to read, I knew I couldn’t wait on this one. After reading The Wife Between Us, I fell in love with these authors and knew this one would not disappoint either! I totally could not put this book down! So much jealousy, confusion and deceit in this thriller!
And can we talk about this cover? It just completely draws you in! I didn’t even need to read the blurb to know this one was going to be amazing!
Thank you to Netgalley for my advanced copy and the chance to review this amazing story! I can’t wait to see what this duo writes next!

Thank you so much to Net Galley for this ARC. I loved The Wife Between Us and I could not wait to read a book by the same authors. They definitely did not disappoint. Hendricks and Pekkanen are incredible suspence writers. They have a unique way of drawing the reader into their story and keeping them intrigued until the very end. This story truly made me think about my morals and what I would have done in a similar situation. Excellent read! I am sure it is going to be a best seller.

Is it normal to sneak into a study on truth and morality using an assumed identity, even if you badly need the money? So begins Jess's introduction into the mesmerizing world of Dr. Shields, the NYU professor conducting the study. Soon Jess find herself in much deeper than a couple of questions would pose. As the assignments get more radical, Jess may soon fear for her safety and sanity. I found this book thouroughly engaging with a great ending. Review given for honest option of ARC.

Favourite book of 2018!
Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen did it again. An Anonymous Girl was an absolute page turner - I devoured this story in less than 48 hours. The plot was full of twists and turns and proved to be unpredictable until the very last page. There was not a single lull or dull moment.
An Anonymous Girl will have you holding your breath in suspense. This psychological thriller will mess with your head. Do yourself a favour and get your hands on this book.

Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen have done it again! Just as well-written as "The Wife Between Us". "An Anonymous Girl" had me on the edge of my seat until the very last page. Well thought out and full of twists and turns I couldn't have anticipated. Jessica Ferris certainly played into Dr. Shields twisted game. Luckily, Jessica is just as devious! Interesting plot and the ending was not anticipated by this reader!

This psychological thriller hooked me in from the first page. The carefully constructed twists and turns narrated by both a psychiatrist and a patient leave you trying to figure out the many pieces of this puzzle. Who is responsible for a young girl's death? What really is this study about? And how do the tragic backstories of both women play into their decisions?
This is one of those rare novels that kept me awake into the middle of the night - I couldn't go to sleep until I read the last page. When you pick up this book, plan your time accordingly - you won't want to put it down either!
Many thanks to St. Martin's Press and Net Galley for this fabulous advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

"Sometimes a simple gift is actually a vessel utilized to issue a warning shot."
"We all have reasons for our actions. Even if we hide the reason from those who think they know us best. Even if the reasons are so deeply buried we can't recognize them ourselves."
To what lengths would you go if you were barely making ends meet?
Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen's latest book, An Anonymous Girl, examines this question when the book's lead character, Jessica, finds herself embroiled in a psychological study for generous compensation. Jessica is working as a struggling makeup artist when a client mentions a psychological study in which they are enrolled. This study piques Jessica's interest as she needs money to make rent and help her family out. Jessica decides to pose as her client to get access to the study. Surprisingly, she is accepted into the study.
At first, the study seems like a financial dream come true. She gets paid a generous sum each time she fills out digital surveys about morality and choices she would make in particular scenarios. Soon, however, Jessica starts to question the purpose of the study and the intentions of the psychologist running it. Jessica feels as though she is revealing her entire life story - good and bad - to the mysterious psychologist behind the computer screen and begins to wonder if sharing such intimate details of her life is worth the price.
She becomes infatuated with the psychologist running the study, Dr. Shields, and wants to know why Dr. Shields needs to know so much information about her study's subjects. Jessica discovers the gorgeous, wealthy, academically brilliant Dr. Shields has a dark past, one that Jessica believes may have led to the death of one of Dr. Shields' subjects. Jessica finds herself drawn closer to Dr. Shields, befriending her with the intention of unraveling the shocking truth about the psychological study and its effect on its participants. The closer Jessica gets the more she questions her initial consent to the study.
I really liked the premise of this book, but I think it could have used a bit more editing; at times it felt a bit drawn out and slow. That being said, the authors know how to weave a clever, engaging story with characters with whom the reader can relate. They are brilliant writers who craft interesting prose that keeps you reading even if the story is a bit farfetched. As a researcher who has to follow the same institutional review board protocols discussed in this book, I can't imagine someone like Dr. Shields surviving in academia (though she was on leave in the book for her misdeeds!). Psychological studies like the Stanford Prison Experiment have been known to take advantage of their subjects, though I would hope those are now far and few between.
Thank you to the authors, St. Martin's Press, and NetGalley for an advanced e-galley of what will likely be one of the hottest psychological thrillers of 2018!

Although I haven't yet read their previous book - (" The Wife Between Us" it's on my to read list following glowing recommendations from members of Bookclub by Mowie), I was really excited when I received an ACT of this book by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. (Thank you!)
The plot for the story was intriguing and I liked how it was written, however there wasn't many twists or turns, the ending was a little disappointing and a bit predictable.
3/5 a sold read but didn't blow me away

Tw for this book- suicide
“Her sharpest weapon is her mind. She wields it mercilessly. If I succumb to panic, I’ll loose.”
WOW. JUST WOW.
This book was not at all what I was expecting. I’m a big fan of suspenseful stories, thrillers, but this one is not like ones I’ve read before. It was very atmospheric, and I found myself not being able to put this down. I wanted, needed, to know what was next.
I found myself just complete invested in this story, and relating to the characters, their flaws and their thought processes.
I can only hope this is turned into a movie because it was just THAT GOOD!

Great characters, a fast paced plot and wonderful twists. It kept me reading late into the night. Highly Recommended for fans of psychological thrillers.

Another great book by Hendricks and Pekkskan, authors of The Wife Between Us.
Jess is a makeup artist, struggling to make a living in NYC, when she gets an opportunity to make some extra cash by participating in a psychological study. How hard can it be to answer some questions by a college professor? Well, this wouldn't be a thriller if it were easy, amiright? Jess gets caught up in a mind game that is twisty, not knowing who in the world to trust. A very quick read and recommend it!
Thanks to NetGalley for the Advanced Copy in exchange for my honest review.

Honestly, I tried. I really tried! I was gifted an advanced copy of this book by St Martins Press (THANK YOU!) and thought I could wait to read it. I just couldn't wait any longer.
Jess is desperate for money. Her sister is handicapped and her parents can barely make ends meet. Her parents think Jess is a makeup artist for the rich and famous, but its far from the truth. One day, she overhears one of her makeup clients talking about a psych survey they are getting paid to do. Jess wants in. She arrives and completes the survey as advertised, but seems to do way better than the rest of the participants. Soon enough, Jess becomes the sole subject of the morality psychology test, but is it really what it's all cracked up to be? The professor seems to have a hidden agenda...but what is it?
I'm just going to flat out say it - this book is amazing. It was everything I hoped it would be and more. I kept texting my friends who had already read the book trying to figure out the end and predict what was going to happen. I could never get it right - the book blew me away each time. That is what I call an excellent book. This book is already in the works of becoming a short series television show and I can't wait. All the stars for this read! It's well worth the wait. PS. Go read The Wife Between Us while you wait!
5/5 Stars

An Anonymous Girl starts with an intriguing premise- an invitation to participate in a psychological study. Things quickly unfold from there. I was turning pages quickly to find out what in the world was going on and was satisfied with the ending. I hadn't read this duo's previous book, but I would consider reading it because this one was so enjoyable. Perfect if you need a fast-paced, creepy read without going into violent territory.

Mind games. Survival. Vindication. In that order, plus so much more. An Anonymous Girl was a “don’ttalktomeIhaveonemorechaptertoread” book.
Jessica is a struggling make up artist trying to make ends meet in the Big Apple. When she hears of a research project, led by psychologist Dr. Shields, she intelligently, but not so honestly, decides to join- after all, the extra cash would do her some good. What transpires next is an extremely codependent relationship (with a whole lot of shade) between Jessica and Dr. Shields that leads the reader down a path of twists, turns, and WTF’s.
I picked this one up in between a couple heavy reads, which was the perfect decision. An Anonymous Girl cleansed my palette in the best way, and left me a little hesitant to turn the final page. Hendricks and Pekkanen did a an amazing job building character relationships, but not to the point of predictability. If you only have a couple hours available for reading, no problem, you’ll fly through this one- it’s that good. I haven’t read their other novel- A Wife Between Us, but if it’s half as suspenseful as this one, count me it.

Wow! I devoured this book. It's been a very long time since a book kept me up all night because I needed to know what happened.
Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen are expert storytellers. I figured out some of the twists before they happened, but it never took away from the story.

A thrilling novel of suspense! My first read of a story by these authors and definitely not my last.. I am going to get my hands on The Wife Between Us ASAP. I think that pretty much sums up my feelings about this book. Thanks to Net Galley, the publisher, and the author for the opportunity to read the advance copy. My advice is to pre- order and put some un-interrupted time aside to read.
