I thoroughly enjoyed this book by Laura Ingraham. I am not familiar with her show on Fox but I have heard many of the controversies surrounding her. This book detailed the populism movement in the USA and focused beyond simply the election of Trump in 2016. This book was well written and gives the reader a conservative look at populism in America. I would like to thank net galley for the ARC! I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in American politics and history. This book was an easy read and kept me hooked, a definite 5 stars out of 5.

I try to read books written by authors that have opposing views than me politically, so this book caught my eye. I wish I could have the time that I wasted on it back. The author lays out her opinions but in a stubborn manner that comes off as argumentative in her writing. I enjoy books where I can read others' opinions to see why they believe what they do and to help understand the other side a little bit more. However, this book made me want to avoid reading books like this in the future.

Busting the Barricades, What I Saw at the Populist Revolt by Laura Ingraham was received direct from the publisher. I have heard of the author and seen her on television. This sentence kind of summarizes what is currently happening in America, no matter what the media may say: “more people are working and taking home more pay.” If you dont believe that, maybe you should go kneel during the National Anthem while a 100 year old statue gets removed, all the while lamenting about “Russia, Russia, Russia.” The author takes the reader through the never spoken of populist revolt going on through the Reagan era to modern day, which has been my adult life, having first voted for Reagan at 18 years of age. If you are interested in politics during this time frame or know someone who is, grab them this book. In actuality, everyone should read this book so they can see the histronics the progressives are using on us all and to see, with their own eyes, what has been happening.

Book Review: Busting the Barricades: What I Saw at the Populist Revolt by Laura Ingraham

Clear-eyed, incisive perspective from the most-listened-to woman in America on political talk radio and host of the Ingraham Angle on Fox News, who counts among her credentials junior speech writer for President Ronald Reagan and clerk for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.

What may not be as well known is Laura’s Aeschylus Moment. "The early death of her mother was followed some time later by a much publicized engagement, the shocking discovery of breast cancer, followed by the breaking of her engagement and the punishing regimen of her cancer treatment, replete with the physical horrors of chemotherapy and radiation. A considerable Aeschylus moment by anyone’s standards, the period also includes her conversion to the Catholic Church." - American Spectator, October 2007.

The Revolt? The election of Donald J. Trump as President of the United States, the unlikeliest candidate who never ran for office. Laura's perspective extensively runs the gamut of decades of a build up for the "revolt" - Goldwater, Reagan, Bush 1, Clinton, Bush 2, Obama, including the 2006-2007 Shamnesty, the Tea Party, pallid candidacy of McCain, the primary defeat of Eric Cantor, and the 2016 Presidential Election and her speech at the 2016 RNC convention.

The barricades? The political class and bipartisan establishment in Congress (also known as the Swamp) hostile to his America First priorities, academia, Hollywood, a press corps that would rather see the country fail than see him succeed, the protestor class that's increasingly violent, and the unhinged resistance dominated by radicalism and anti-Americanism.

In closing, the author notes that the greatness of America lies not in its wealth, its armies, its beauty, or even its rich history. The greatness of America is that here, we are trying to build a country where the people - all the people - are the rulers, and not the servants... that if this simple truth is restored to its proper place in American life, then the "Trump revolt" will have been a success.

it was amazing

A marvelous journey through the political landscape from Goldwater to Reagan. .. and then Reagan
onward up to and including the Trump conservative-populist movement. Ingraham narrates the tumultuous times, political events that have transpired up to the present time. Along the way, Ingraham provides her personal insights she obtained through her various involvements in the political machine .
She continuously provides appropriate critical analysis and wit to shed light onto the circumstances and importance of each historical political event. Her analysis of these important events as they unfold in history provides a significant and cogent argument for the necessity of the conservative - populist movement. An attorney by training she has certainly evolved into much more... after law school she entered into politics as a speech writer for Reagan ... then clerking for Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.. and then entering the Media arena on radio in 2001 and finally as an amazing TV guru on Fox News in October 2017. Thanks to Netgalley and St Marins's Press for providing an Uncorrected Proof of this highly enlightening book in exchange for an honest review.

Respected conservative radio and television host, Laura Ingraham, has written a smart, detailed description of modern American politics. Ingraham begins with her perception of the beginning of the populist movement in America with a thorough description of Reagan’s political stretch as President of the United States. She deftly presents a smart and detailed description of the affect of every president through President Donald Trump. The book ends with a question of where the populist movement will go from here. Intelligent and well-researched, Laura Ingraham shows her understanding and knowledge of world politics today as well as in the past.

This book should be impeached from every list just like the president she supports. She has loose lips, has no idea what she is talking about and is down right dangerous. I wouldnt recommend this to my cat.
