The books in the "Discover" series are filled with large, colorful photographs and simple, informative text. This one does not disappoint. You'll see and read about nests, small and large, the animals that build nests, and the different places where nests are built. Five stars.

Cute enough. Very pre-school aged. I really was expecting more from it, but it's okay. Maybe for your very youngest children.

This is a great book to teach children all about nests and where they may be. There are nests in trees or in the ground Nests can be up high or down low. They can be big or small. Some can even hang. With beautiful pictures the author has captured the different kind of nests and the animals that build them. I recommend this book for 2-5 yr olds. This is also a level 1 reader book.

Discover Nests by Juliana O'Neill is an early reader's introduction to nests. With gorgeous full-colour pictures, and simple sentences, readers will learn all about nest sizes, construction materials and animals other than birds that make nests. Great addition to any little one's library.

***Many thanks to Netgalley and Xist Publishing for providing an egalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This is a cute non-fiction book for young children as well as beginning readers. Each page has beautiful photographs and a sentence describing the picture. The words throughout the book are repetitive to develop some confidence and fluency in the young reader, with some of the content words more difficult (i.e. hummingbirds, termites, wasps, alligator etc.) These works might be able to be figured out using picture clues. I like that not only does the author include different types of bird nests, but pointed out that other animals live in nests as well. I read this book with my grandchildren (ages 2 and 4) and they both enjoyed it very much, although the four year old asked a lot more questions.

I really like the Discover Reading series. Everyone I have shared with my grandchildren has been enjoyed by them. I can see my grandson learning to read using some of these books. I requested and received a copy of this book from the publisher, Xist Publishing. The rating, opinions and ideas stated are my own.

This book has simple text and the photos are crisp and beautifully portrayed. Kids will be amazed to discover a variety of animals that live in nests in this Discover Reader Beginning Reader.

The author not only includes birds in her book but other types of animals as well making it a more rounded experience of nest-builders and dwellers. Birds, snakes, alligators, squirrels, wasps, rabbits and termites are just a selected few that are highlighted.

This series offers informative nonfiction for beginning readers and I highly recommend this book. Not only is it suitable for home-sharing but would be a wonderful asset to a classroom or a school library.

I thought this early nonfiction picture book was really well-done with high quality photographs. Perfect for a unit on birds or habitats.

This book is simple and straightforward. It has appealing photographs and short sentences. It's good for the youngest school age or preschool readers.

This is the coolest nest book I have ever seen! I love how the images give a peek into the nest so the children can see what is inside. My little ones are always curious when we find a nest in a bush or a tree but we don't often have the opportunity to see what it looks like. As a homeschooling mom, I am very happy to have discovered this book! I can't wait to share about it with other parents so they can share the inside look of nest with their children too!

Discover Nests by Juliana O'Neill is a book I requested from NetGalley and the review is voluntary. I was expecting a big more from this book. There are 8 pictures, each has a sentence with it. Now if it was an easy reader I would understand that you might want to limit the amount but these are not easy words. Weird. It just doesn't for together to me.

Like the title shouts, this is a small primer for little kids on what nests are all about. From building materials to size and occupants, it shows just about everything there is to nests, because if you think about it, there really isn’t all that much to it.
As expected, most of this is taken up by bird nests, but other animals have their pages as well. I think a rabbit’s hole is more likely to be called a warren, but why quibble? Other than the gross closeup of a slug, the photos were well-chosen. Perhaps a penguin would have been a better inclusion than some of those in the latter pages.

Review to come to my blog in August, and then will be posted on all sources mentioned on my profile when I get back from vacation in September.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

Well, I had expected more. I knew this one would be simple, as it was a first level discovery thing, but I still had hoped for a bit more depth.

This one is all about nests, mainly about birds 17 out of 31 pages is about birds, 2 pages are the ending and don't concern any critters, and 12 pages are about non-birds. While it wasn't that interesting for me too read, again way way to simplified, the photography was pretty on point and I did like the photos they picked out for this book.

However, again, it is just way too simple. Each image is accompanied by one line of text. Things like: Rabbits build nests under the ground or Eagle nests are very large. As you can see the text is also simple and it just feels like no one took a big effort in pasting it on the photography (at times there is just a box around it to make sure the text is visible). I know, I know, this is one for the easiest levels, but even picture books have more text and those are also for the kind of kids that read these kind of easy stuff. I have seen first picture books with more effort, care, love and text than this book. And that is a shame. I am sure it could be more informative without making it too difficult.

All in all, I am not too sure if I would recommend this one. Maybe for the photography?

To be published on the release date.

What perfect timing that this book is being released on the first day of spring in Australia.

This is a good instalment in the “Discover Reading” series, and I think children will find it more interesting than some of the others (not just birds are mentioned).

I thought I’d read this one as we have so many baby birds on our property at this time of year!

As ever, this will work MUCH better as a paper book.

I'm quite a fan of the Discover Reading series. The books combine beautiful photographs with easy to read short sentences of an interesting theme.

Here we look at nests, how birds build them, the various materials they are made of and at the cute baby birds in their nest.

It's fun to see how much the size differs between the nest of a hummingbird and that of an eagle.

Luckily, it's not overlooked to point out, birds aren't the only animals who build nests and we see a fascinating wasps nest. I sure wouldn't want to get to close to that one.
I must admit, I didn't know, snails build nests for their eggs, too, which only goes to show, the beautifully created picture book offers quite a lot.

I read the lovely book together with my little niece and she was excited about what she saw and we both found the sentences well suited and encouraging for early readers,
