The device of labeling all characters as facets of a human consciousness or a psychiatric coping mechanism gets old. The hero can't be a family man and mere player upon his own internal stage at the same time. It DID NOT WORK. I could not finish this book, mainly because I could not decide if I cared enough to know the ending.
