I received a free ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

A great book for kids that have trouble understanding emotions and how to deal with them. The Disney aspect is fun and will draw kids to the book.

Fun book about emotions. Not sure we will purchase or not. Works best for discussion. I will recommend it to teachers though.

Based on the Inside Out characters, Hotheads is a story of Riley using sound anger management techniques in a engaging age appropriate tale. I would use this story with my counseling small groups or in classroom guidance lessons. Thanks Lerner Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC of this title for review.

As a parent to big Riley fans, I thoroughly enjoyed this. It was very much like the movie, characters came right off the pages with the vivid illustrations.

I was excited to read this book and consider introducing it to my library, but to me the story felt a little forced and very long when considering the target audience. The illustrations were remarkable and any fan of Inside Out or of Disney and Pixar animation in general will enjoy them. Riley and her emotions are put to the test when she is asked to babysit even though she’d rather be with a friend. The emotions work together to get through it, but I think I was expecting this book to more explicitly state some coping mechanisms for kids dealing with extreme feelings. Thank you, NetGalley for the ARC!
