This is an upbeat and positive book that helps kids to identify and manage a wide variety of emotions. It is brightly illustrated (as can be seen from the cover) and somewhat interactive.

Four big emotions are featured here. They include happy, sad, fearful and angry. No judgment is attached to what some might consider “negative” feelings.

This book will be welcomed by parents, teachers, mental health providers and, of course, kids. It is a nice resource.

Many thanks to NetGalley and DK for this title. All opinions are my own.

I have been kind of looking around for a book that describes emotions in a simplistic style and makes it easy to understand. When I saw this book I was thinking that I had found an answer.

Upon looking at the Table of Contents I found myself disappointed for it seemed that their idea of simplifying was just a few basic emotions.

Yep so far I haven't been the brightest bulb when it has come to the book. The actual book itself though is much, much more than either of my first two judgments.

Although it focuses on just a few basic emotional blocks the book does go further into studying some other "secondary" feelings based upon that block. As a result the reader will get definitons on a few feelings that will help them to tell the difference between some that seem so very similar.

The book also starts going deeper with exercises to help you control your emotions, explanations on why you feel that way or how it makes others feel, what your tears are composed of, etc. As a result it becomes a very heavy-reading book.

There are illustrations that gives the reader insight into the brain, cubical shaped emotions and a few others to break-up the wordiness but I fee it wasn't enough. As a result a book I was thinking was for young children is more than likely to be better off for children that are further up in the grade school level and maybe even more likely middle schoolers who might not want to know about all this by that age.

From the company that it came from it would meet the expectations I have come to expect from them on being an informative and educational book. But for the type of book it was mentioned as being I think it went too far, which as a result makes it an overload to any reader who picks it up.

My Mixed Emotions is a great addition to homes, classrooms, and counseling/therapy offices.

Children struggle with emotions and how to process them. This book is great for teaching children to identify their emotions and also offers suggestions for working through them. The book is easily navigated by breaking the information down into 5 sections: "Feeling Happy," "Feeling Angry," "Feeling Fear," "Feeling Sad," and "The Wonder of You." The book is further broken down into subsections with page numbers for easy navigation when searching for particular subject matter. The book tackles emotions attached to common issues such as being the new kid, separation in families, bullying, and jealousy. I appreciate that resources for professional help are given at the beginning of the book. My children enjoy the illustrations and the emoji faces. The science behind emotions is particularly useful for older children and aids in explaining how emotions are a normal part of life and that we all experience them. However, the science behind them is a bit advanced for the younger readers. The illustrations are helpful, although some pages are very busy. I definitely recommend this book and intend to purchase a physical copy.

I need to purchase several copies of this book for my resource room. It fits perfectly with the curriculum I use for my students that need help with their social emotional skills. Great descriptions and visuals for all types of learners.

I was really excited to read this book. I downloaded the book, but every time I go to open the book it crashes the app. It only does this with this book, none of the other books I have downloaded.

This is a wonderful book for parents and preschoolers for understanding emotions. The book breaks down the four main emotions; happiness, sadness, anger and fear. It talks about what our body is going through when we experience these emotions and what might be triggering us to feel this way.
Wonderful pictures and descriptions! Great resource for a preschool or parent of a little one with big emotions. Sometimes it’s hard to understand what we’re feeling and this is a great tool to help make sense of it all.
Thank you to DK and NetGalley for this wonderful e-copy! We will be looking at this book in class today!

My Mixed Emotions is a great resource for young children! The images are bold and engaging and the text easily flows in a way that even young children can understand. It really breaks down emotions, even complex ones, and help kids to understand each feeling and what happens in their body when they are feeling those emotions. It really helps children identify and express a wide range of emotions. We have an ebook version of this but I'm going to add the physical copy to our library! I read it with my 1st grader, it has helped us to talk more openly about emotions and how we can manage them in positive ways. It's also been really helpful with my younger, preschool aged, daycare children, It helps them identify emotions and learn to express themselves more clearly.

Thanks DK Children and NetGalley for the ARC of this title. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.

Magnificent, both in content and graphic presentation.

This book can work excellent for educators, therapists and parents who want to accompany children to learn beyond the basics about their emotions, even with more precise and technical language. In the first section of the book, with clear graphic schemes, information and vocabulary, children can learn how to be clearer and understand their emotions very well, the body sensation, their origin in their brain, their purpose and importance.

In the following sections the authors break down the 4 main root emotions such as Happiness, Anger, Fear, Sadness, ... so that the children understand the stages of their reaction, symtoms and the related sensations, the emotions that can trigger it, excellent handy tips or quick fixes, how to deal with that emotion and a moral principle related issue, in addition to challenges that children can experience in their daily lives and how to handle it, simple and useful exercises to relax and calm down ... .adorable field of flowers activity to feel grateful for personal qualities!

The authors deliver the information constructively and positively, providing tools for the development of emotional intelligence, the fundamental learning of humanization and socio-emotional skills (self-awareness and self-regulation), helping children to acquire the clarity that gives them the power to handle their emotions, choosing among several options to express themselves and act, giving them the option to improve their interactions by interacting with their peers and flowing in the different life experiences.

I give props for writing this book. The topic is very important.
Can’t do a real review because the download never worked properly and check-ins with support/their asking of the publisher didn’t make the file functional.

[Will be happy to revise this response if informed the PDF gets updated. Cheers.]

I thought this book was cute.  There is actually A LOT in there.  This book explains the four main feelings: happy, angry, sad and afraid and then goes into specific things that might make you feel that way and seeks to help kids make sense of things and understand their feelings.  This might be a good book for all kids, but could be a useful tool for kids who have trouble expressing themselves.

This book is a perfect introduction to emotions for kids. I thought the layout was appealing, timely (the emojis!) and great for young elementary students. My favorite page was the silhouette bodies that were lit up with the places you may feel a certain emotion (example: happy might be felt in your heart). I think it was a great visual representation of the common feelings we have and why a feeling can impact the rest of our body and mood. The tips for helping move beyond a feeling and realizing that feelings are scientific make this a powerful tool for teachers, parents and counselors.

Excellent resource for caregivers of young children to help them learn how to manage their emotions. Often times discussing emotions can be tricky but this new release provides helpful instructions with drawings and graphics galore to simplify the process and help children learn to identify and work through these difficult situations.
