I would recommend this story to all thriller lovers .This book took me by surprise. It kept me interested throughout the story and I needed to see what was going to happen. I truly enjoyed the pacing of the story and the well written characters.

Good book about what it means to be a mother, a wife and a friend. Hewitt does an excellent job of exploring how we are different people in each of these roles and how the lens through which we see others in relationship to ourselves can distort the truth, sometimes with terrifying consequences.

This was an ok read but I found it quite slow at times . A good story but I just felt it was lacking something.

A story about family, love, loss and friendship. The writing style was great and just flowed.. The pace was good, and it was a great story about consequences.

Rambled a bit too much for me. I expected a more fast-paced book and it's really not what I got. A very slow burner. I wish I can say it gets better but it felt stagnant throughout for me.

What an amazing story of secrets...between families and between family members. As the book begins, you are wondering what really happened to bring these two women and their children to their respective lake houses.

Well, get ready! You will be in for unbelievable revelations. The characters are well developed and their personalities very unique. You definitely will develop strong opinions about them. Lots of family dynamics, love, loss, and emotional and physical trauma.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookoutre for my advanced review copy. All opinions and thoughts are my own.

A story of real girl power and friendship and how we always think the grass is greener instead of being thankful for what we have. Tessa and Rebecca are two very different women struggling with their own fears and secrets. Both women are likeable characters and the children even grew on me. Things got a bit hectic at the end and became a real tearjerker but overall a good read. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for letting me review it.

This was a great read. A story about two women who are consumed by their own needs that they overlook the pain in their children. This is a book you will want to sit and read without putting down. Very intriguing characters and all likable.

A gripping novel that is full of exploring new friendships, your past, relationships, parenthood and the struggles of life in between. Two women who meet and form an unlikely friendship. They have their own share of secrets and things they are hiding from one another. This novel explores their journey as their two lives intertwine together, and secrets are slowly revealed. Several twists and turns, revelations and self-discovery.

Although this isn't a genre that I regularly read, I enjoyed the book. The characters were easy to relate to and I liked the style of Hewitt's writing. I will definitely recommend and look forward to reading more from her. Thank you for the advanced copy.

What a beautifully written book. I don't regularly read this genre, but enjoyed this sweet book, and recommend it for anyone who wants to read some uplifting in the day and age.

While this book seems like it would be a thriller from the synopsis, it really isn't until the very end. It is a well written book with good pacing and character development-not my typical read but still kept me interested and invested enough to finish it-I was disappointed that it didn't quite match up with how it was presented. Still a good book, definitely would recommend for fans of Jodi Picoult.

This is a good modern heart warming fictional story. There is a bit of a twist which holds the readers attention to the end of the book.

Tessa hasn't had an easy life recently. Ever since the death of her mother, things have been a struggle. Add to that the fact that she has no friends and everyday life is even harder. Her solution: take the kids away from the city for the whole summer and see what happens.

Rebecca has been cast away. After embarrassing her husband at a work function, she's been exiled away from their normal summer in The Hamptons. Instead, she winds up in nowhere New York next to people well below her social class.

Tessa and Rebecca form a seemingly one-sided friendship, with Rebecca constantly planning and paying for everything. That is until Rebecca's secret comes to light and Tessa takes on more than she should.

The story progresses through Tessa's living in Rebecca's shoes and Rebecca's road to recovering from the secrets that have been secured inside her head for years. Each woman coming one step closer to seeing why they have ended up the way they have.

An extremely engaging story with an ending that I never saw coming.

I struggled with this book. I think it was the pacing. Based on the synopsis I was expecting more of a thrill ride. There are strong characters, each a bit flawed. The events in the story are a bit far fetched, but overall the book was entertaining. I saw someone compared it to a slow burn, and perhaps that is where my struggle can be explained. I would rate it about 3.5 based on the characters and the overall story, it just wasnt what I had expected, or what I needed this time.

The Secrets We Keep is a highly recommended read I could not put my kindle down, I just had to find out what happens next, I was drawn in by the characters Tessa and Rebecca immediately who are joined together during a summer holiday each with hidden problems of their own, I enjoyed every minute of this book.

The introduction of Tessa and her children was so well done that I could picture the kids and their moods and even the faces they were making. They were so well painted I was entirely hooked and emotionally drawn into their situation. The picture isn't filled in though and the gaps take the entire novel to slip into place. That could be a little frustrating at times mostly because motive for certain actions are unclear for so long. That is how we do suspense though!

Tessa is an interesting juxtaposition of confident and unsure. She is intimidated by her seemingly perfect neighbour Rebecca and yet finds herself running two households and all the kids lives with ease when she is needed.

The two women become really close... to be honest though I was never really comfortable with their relationship. It may have felt more authentic from the inside but from the outside it made me nervous. And there was reason to feel that way... but I'm not going to give it away.

The novel is slow burn with cautious intensity and I loved the intrigue and the bonds between women and mothers. I wish I could have known what happened further down the line on their lives.

I loved this book by Kate Hewitt but wished there had been a few more ends tied up!

I would like to thank the Netgalley website and Bookouture Publishing for this partnership.

I was immediately attracted to the blanket, where you see the mother and daughter holding hands, and the catchphrase: "How can you keep your child safe when you can't protect yourself?

We find Tessa there who will spend some time in a rental house by the lake to hide. When one day the family next door wants to invite Tessa to their home at all costs. Rebecca has a deep secret, Tessa seems to be the only person she can turn to. Except that the closer these families get, the more one will pay the high price at the end of the summer......

A captivating, moving story filled with suspense and twists and turns with engaging characters. I love the author's pen.

As an avid reader of books, I look for just one kind. The kind that you can’t put down. The kind you lose sleep over because you just have to read 1 more chapter, and before you know it, it’s 2am. The kind that leaves you unable to think about anything else, long after the last words have been read. This was one of those kinds of books. Beautifully written? Heartwarming and gut wrenching all at the same time. Thank you so much for sharing this story with me.
