I started reading this because I missed Bridgerton and while this satisfied my craving somewhat, it wasn't nearly as good.
I loved the setting with the whole anonymous Duke of Seduction scheme, but I feel like the mystery aspect was a bit lacking. This can also be because this was my first historical romance ever, but the insta-love felt a bit forced to me as well.
While I loved Beck and Lavinia as individual characters, I didn't necessarily love them together.

Lady Lavinia Gillingham is a bluestocking, happily studying science especially geology. She is also happily unmarried and hopes to keep it that way. William Beckett, Marquess of Northam is also happily single enjoying his reputation as a rake. This tenth book in the Untouchable series brings two people together who just can't help but bring out the best in each other. It starts with a case of mistaken identity in the library at a social gathering. She is there to read, he is there to met his latest. He finds her charming and wants to help leave her wallflower status behind. You see Beck has a secret, he writes poems for the paper, highlighting a different wallflower he feels is deserving of some attention. The problem, not every girl he writes an ode to wants the attention. Although this read does not have had much intrigue or danger as previous books in the series, it is still a good read Even without the intrigue, the book is a fast read and nicely done. it is always enjoyable to revisit with characters from previous books. There are some delightful characters who still need a story, so this series is not finished.

I absolutely loved this book and the Duke if Seduction. Lady Lavinia was a breath of fresh air and unlike typical ladies of the ton. Beck had demons to deal with before love could touch his heart and I’m glad Lavinia could help him. Looking to read the rest of the series.

This was my first Darcy Burke and it was sweet and steamy with great leads. I really appreciated Lavinia's lack of appreciation for being thrust into the limelight the way she was. I thought that the deception re: the Duke of Seduction would go on longer with the need for a big grovel, so it was a great surprise to see it revealed so soon and they fall in love by working together instead.

This cute historical romance teaches readers to embrace their interests! I found this story to be novel.

Beck is the “Duke of Seduction”. He is a sensitive man who writes poems in the newspaper, anonymously, that bring forgotten women into the spotlight. Levinia is one of those girls, after an altercation with Beck in a library. She uncovers his secret and they fall in love.

Levinia is my favorite type of heroine. She is a bluestocking who has to marry. Beck is a bachelor poet who plays the guitar. He is a very sensitive man, yet does not show that side to anyone.

This was an easy to read romance that lightly touches on mental illness with Beck’s character, although this is not in a definitive way. By the way the author describes him, he appears to have very drastic mood swings. I wish the author had explored this more.

Overall I recommend this novel, it was pretty good.

Darcy Burke’s ‘Duke of Seduction’ is an enthralling tale of romance and a headstrong heroine who doesn’t want anything to do with marriage. But, when Beck comes calling, her heart changes it’s beat! I enjoyed reading this novel! This author is in a roll with writing love stories that touch the heart! I highly recommend this book to all readers of romance!

Darcy Burke is a master a creating memorable characters. The situations and scrapes they find themselves in are nothing short of genius. I couldn't put The Duke of Seduction down!

I liked the heroine, she's a woman of science and she's adorable. And the hero too. He's the "Duke of seduction", he writes poems about wallflowers to help them find suitors and do a good match. He writes about Lavinia and she's angry because she didn't want the attention. I liked that there wasn't any silly misunderstanding and that Beck apologized. He had good intentions, he wanted to help, even if the women didn't ask for it but he was quick to apologize and to try to do things better with Lavinia.
He's a hopeless romantic even if he says that he doesn't want to marry.
This was a slow burn friend's to lovers romance. I liked the characters but sometimes I found the story boring.

The Duke of Seduction is Book 10 of Darcy Burke’s Untouchables series, but don’t worry if you picked up this one first. You can read them in any order, even though previous characters do make occasional appearances. Each story stands perfectly well alone.

The Duke in this one is actually a Marquess to be precise, but he has an alter ego - one who pens poems dedicated to young ladies in a popular newspaper. The young ladies he praises are usually the unnoticed gems, sometimes actively wallflowers, and his notice propels them to sudden fame among the Ton. Thus far, three have made successful matches.

Now, he’s unexpectedly turned his sights on Lady Lavinia Gillingham, who couldn’t be more furious about it. More interested in geology than flirting, the last thing she wants is a bunch of useless dandies dancing attention on her. The only kind of husband she might be interested in is one who shares her scientific bent, or at the very least will permit her freedom to pursue her own interests.

Beck, Marquess of Northam, meant well. After accidentally offending Lavinia, he just wants to see her happy, but on realizing he’s actually complicated her life he has to try and help. The more time he spends with this intelligent young lady, however, the more he realizes he’s falling head over heels!

I adored Beck so much! A musician and a poet, he hides his sensitive side from everyone, but felt safe enough around Lavinia to let her see his hidden depths, and she can’t really help falling for the rake with the heart of an artist. I thought they made a lovely couple; his respect and admiration for her practically shone out of the book.

This is the third I’ve read in this series, after Duke of Ice and Duke of Lies, and it’s the third I’m going to give five stars to. Darcy Burke doesn’t seem to be able to write a bad book. If you love historical romance and you’re not already reading her, do yourself a favour and add her to your TBR shelf.

Steamy and romantic - loved this new book in the series as much as the last ones.
Beck is the Duke of Seduction. Although he is a rake, he anonymously publishes poems about women in society who he thinks could use a confidence boost, all in memory of his late sister.
He sets his sights on Lavinia, who seems like a wallflower but, in actual fact, is deliberately avoiding scrutiny so she can pursue her one passion, geology.
The two of them embark on a strange friendship and endeavour to help each other, which inevitably leads to some explosive moments on the page.
A highly entertaining read.

Am seriously enjoying these historical romance fictions books. Second historical fiction book this week that I enjoyed. We meet Lavinia who is interested in science but unfortunately is also in the marriage mart but she has no problem being a wallflower. Her parents have given her an ultimatum to get married this season. She ends up meeting the notorius rake Beck, Marquis of Northam end knocks him on his butt since she isn't the type to be interested in his flirtation. Beck tends to write poems of wallflowers so that they can get noticed by the ton, thinking he is assisting them, he unfortunately writes about Lavinia and she is not happy, she is set to find out who is doing that and that they stop because she is getting unwanted attention..Enjoy!

Lavinia and Beck share a great story. Darcy Burke shares their story in true romance fashion. A book that will not disappoint!

This book had a lovely relationship at its core, and I liked the inclusion of the poetry which was done well.

The hero was a lovely character, he had a reputation with women, however because of the sad fate of his sister, felt sorry for all the wall flowers and does his best to bring some of them into fashion by writing anonymous odes to them which are published in the papers. When we meet William, he is a popular member of the ton, but he suffers from depressive episodes as a result of the death of his sister, and he uses music and poetry to ease his soul. His championing of a number of wallflowers has resulted in two being married and one being betrothed. He sees Lavinia Gillingham and decides to bring her into fashion, little realising that it is the last thing she wants. Unfashionably scientific, and keenly I tested in fossils and geology, Lavinia only wishes to be married to a man who will respect her interests and value her for them. The notice of the poet just brings her unwanted attention and spurs her parents to advance their plans.

William has never realised that his attentions in the press might be unwelcome and is mortified by this - I really liked how this was handled, as it is unusual in a Regency for the hero to be/admit he is in the wrong.

I loved the relationship between the two main characters, that he was the arty, dreamy one, that he respected her bookish and scientific tendencies, that he resolved to do better in his championing of wallflowers, that they talked to each other to resolve their differences.

The love story advances quickly, once he kisses her by mistake at a ball, and can’t stop thinking about her.

The writing was lighthearted, often funny, and easy to read, and the love story refreshingly free of black hearted villains and unrealistic plot contrivances.

Well worth a read if you are looking for a clever, bright and funny romance.

I really enjoyed this book. Lavinia was a great heroine. I liked how she was fine with not being successful on the Marriage Mart and happy with her small group of friends. Beck was a tortured hero. He felt guilty over his sister's death and was determined to discover what really happened. The story was witty and fast-paced from the beginning to the end.

Enjoyable characters, fun little read, with plenty of romance.

This book had me hooked and I couldn’t put it down. Lavinia finds herself mistaken for his lover by the marquess, Beck. From the first accidental kiss Beck is smitten with her, he just doesn’t know it. I like that they built a solid friendship with trust before falling in Love.

I like that Burke has strong women characters who challenge the beliefs of society and are not afraid to show their intelligence and having a male counterpart with a softer side of being a musician and poet. I am looking forward to another story in this series of The Untouchables by Darcy Burke.

Such a steamy and heart skipping romance. I loved this swoon-worthy read, the characters were really enjoyable to follow and the plot was just right.

Lady Lavinia's romance with the Marquess Beck is a pretty typical use of the commonly used toupe of the misunderstood bluestock young woman fighting against marrying for convenience rather than love. Lavinia wants to focus on her studies of geology and wants to prolong the search for a husband. Of course Beck also knows as the Duke of seduction thinks he would help her find a good husband by writing a poem in the paper. This increases her popularity and the gentleman come calling. She resents this and so begins the search for the Duke of seduction although he's right in front of her.
They were a nice couple but missing that unexplainable sizzling chemistry.

I enjoyed this story though the premise of a nobleman writing poetry in a publication and calling himself The Duke of Seduction seemed rather far fetched and I had to laugh at an individual having the surname of Evenrude! Despite this, the story flowed well and kept my attention and was a pleasant way to spend a rainy afternoon.
