I really enjoyed the story and found it to be believable. The twists and turns kept me reading well into the night. This story would make an excellent movie.

I enjoyed this read, but overall the plot wasn't my favorite. Nichol Bain has set himself as a "fixer" and finds himself a bit over his head with his new task. Nichol and Maura's development is fun but overall I don't think it will stand out in my memory.

Another keeper by Julia London. Nichol Bain is known for solving problems. Maura is a poor relation with a problem. Very entertaining to find out if they can solve this one. Highly recommend. I received an ARC for an honest review - honestly a great read.

Enjoyable book in The Highland Grooms series!

Seduced by a Scot is the 6th book in the Highland Groom series. I loved this entire series. The Mackenzies are warm, funny and a very exciting family. Seduced by a Scot is different from all the other books in that it only mentions the Mackenzie family briefly. The heroine, Maura, begins as a Cinderella complete with ugly stepsister – not really a stepsister but close enough. The hero, Nichol, comes in when he rescues Maura as Rapunzel from a tower. The falling in love comes later as he escorts Maura to what Nichol considers a better situation for her – marriage to a wealthy man she doesn't know or care to know. Along the way love blooms when both hero and heroine find they need someone that understands the utter desolation of their past and to fill the emptiness of being unloved and unwanted. They found that they were two people perfectly suited to each other except Nichol had no means to offer the kind of life he felt Maura deserved. She felt differently and was tired of men explaining what was best for her. After arriving at their destination to find the wealthy, eligible bachelor to be quite a fool Maura decides to take charge of her own destiny and love finally wins. Several twists and turns in the book offer some excitement and the return of the Mackenzies at the end made this book a keeper. I would have preferred more of the Mackenzies but maybe we will see them in future books. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC and an opportunity to provide my own opinions on this book.

What a heroine! While I love all of Julia London's heroines, this one really struck a chord with me. So often we see our leading ladies brought down by the challenging upbringing they've had, leaving it to their fella to remind them of what makes them a force to be reckoned with. Not so with Maura! While she has accepted her past, she has by no means lost the fire that is innately within her. I loved seeing her with Bain, holding her own, both when she "disliked" him and when she definitely didn't.

Bain on the other hand is a man made from his own circumstances, preferring to focus on other people's problems in order to push his own aside. The scene where they attempt to collect Maura's very special necklace from her previous home had me laughing out loud. Along with all of their other many adventures as they head toward love.

This is one I know I'll read again, and probably my new favorite in the Highland Grooms Collection! (less)

A lovely read from Julia London that takes us to Scotland and introduces us to Maura and Nichol. Both are very strong characters who have had a lot not go right for them. But they don’t give up - they regroup and plan and plot.

Thank you to the author and publisher for the opportunity for an arc in exchange for honest review.

After the unintentional trouble that Nichol Bain caused Catriona Mackenzie and Hamlin Graham (Duke of Montrose), it was great to see Nichol meet his match in Maura Darby.
Maura cannot seem to catch a break: she’s blamed for the uninvited advances from her guardian’s daughter’s finance, shipped off to a drunken relative, and then will be pawned off to an unknown man as his future bride. Finally Maura decides that enough is enough and she’s going to take her life into her own hands. Regardless of what Nichol says or how much she enjoys his kisses.
Nichol Bain has been able to successfully resolve problems and mediate resolution for gentlemen and nobleman with ease. That is until he meets Maura. She throws the best laid plans into the air and makes him reconsider all he’s ever known. The real question is will both of them be able to overcome personal ideas, family conflict, and an unexpected hostage situation to find their happily ever after?
This was an excellent read that actually had me laughing out loud. Would recommend without hesitation.

Julia London does it again in this wickedly savage historical romance novel, Seduced by a Scot! I've been a fan of London's writing and she has not let me down yet. I highly recommend this devastatingly adventurous love story to all romance fans.

I always go into a Julia London book with a smile on my face. Her characters always have incredible depth and are interesting with just enough sexual tension to keep the reader invested, and this gem was no different.

I have to admit to almost having trouble loving Maura at first, and then as the story of her treatment unfolded I started to see she’s almost like this kicked puppy, constantly unloved, unwanted, and at the same time being told she should be thankful. She gave the family everything and still they treated her horribly. The only one that wasn’t too horrible was the father but even then he proved to be evil because he allowed his daughter and wife to let their jealousy rule them. Maura has no choice but to be sent away to a distant Uncle and when she’s found there its soon discovered she’s been living in filth and hiding from his advances.

Enter in Nichol Bain, a fixer. He’s basically a guy that rich families pay to make their problems go away and he’s ridiculously good at his job, not to mention good looking. He has secrets of his own that are revealed about his parentage which end up making the story even that much more juicy plot wise. His only job is to get Maura married off to a distant friend who is in need of a wife, the only issue is that the more he gets to know Maura the more he beings to respect her and obviously fall in love with her, but he’s never not finished a job so even though his heart is breaking right along with hers, he knows he needs to leave her.

I have to admit that around a third into this book I was already getting nervous about what would happen between all the characters. I felt for Maura she just wanted someone to love her and Nichol is giving the opportunity to be a different person to her. It’s heartbreaking but the ending is totally worth all the tears you shed to get there.

Beautiful prose, incredible imagery, and fast paced dialogue make this one of my favorite historicals I’ve read this year.

When a prominent Scottish family faces a major scandal weeks before their daughter’s wedding, they turn in desperation to the enigmatic fixer for the aristocracy, Nichol Bain. Remarkably skilled at making high-profile problems go away, Nichol understands the issue immediately. The family’s raven-haired ward, Maura Darby, has caught the wandering eye—and rather untoward advances—of the groom.
So, I really wanted to get a hold of one of Julia London’s book.I was really excited when I received it. Then I started reading it. It was ok. I just had a hard time getting through it.

I was provided an ARC by NetGalley and the author. The thoughts and opinions contained in this review are my own.

I truly enjoyed this sixth installment in the Highland Grooms series. The characters were well written and the storyline flowed nicely. I found myself rooting for this couple from start to finish, the personalities were well "fleshed" out, and it made their shenanigans that much more enjoyable to picture in my mind. I'm really looking forward to see what Julia will bring us next!

Entertaining and delightful. Maura is feisty and frustrated by the conventional limitations put on women, while Nichol as an intelligent, managing sort of man proves exactly the right match for her. Read a full review for the Historical Novel Society at:

This was funny. I liked this one well enough. But it wasn’t anything special. I did enjoy the characters though! I do love my highland men! The romance I think was the main selling point for me. I was itching for more and didn’t wanna stop reading because I was obsessed. It wasn’t anything special, was a bit predictable, but man let me tell you! That romance! I’ve heard good things about this author though so I’m really interested in seeing what more she has to show us!

DNF @ 34%
There was so much going on here plot-wise that I couldn’t keep up. It honestly made it impossible to care or focus on the romance between Maura and Bain. If this had been a simple travel romance, I could have really enjoyed it. Also, I honestly couldn’t stand the way that Garrett family treated Maura. With so many story lines and unnecessary shaming, I can‘t push myself to finish this one.

While I freely admit that I was not able to immediately pinpoint Nichol’s previous appearance in and connections to this series, I enjoyed the story from the beginning. There were lots of twists and turns, plenty of amazing characters, and some very sexy moments along the way to keep this story from being boring. Julia London has a way with all her writing that allows the reader to be sucked in to the story, and I enjoyed this story, though not nearly as much I did others in the series. A woman finally finding her voice in a world ruled by men and a man finally coming to understand that the love of good woman can change a man’s life forever—what could make for a better match? I have really enjoyed this series and watching it developed, as each of the couples came together and found love, sometimes in the most unlikely of places. I am looking forward to whatever comes next, either in this series or if it is over then in whatever series comes next.
Nichol Bain is what we would now call a fixer—a man that spends his life saving the aristocracy from themselves when they can pay him, but never settling down or keeping anything for himself. His newest assignment should have been an easy one, with a quick and simple solution, except for one little problem—Maura Darby. The first woman to truly stir his passion and pull him from his shell, but he can’t keep her for himself when his entire reputation depends on him foisting her into a marriage she doesn’t want. Maura is tired of being pushed into one or another unwanted and untenable situation where she has no say in her life, and she is determined to take back control of her life, starting with her passions of you very sexy man that is slowly worming his way into her heart. In the end are they too different to make a life together or can they find a compromise that will allow the both to get everything they ever needed from their life?
I loved getting to know Maura and have no doubt that had I met her in person I would have made her a best friend immediately. Once she decided that she was done being timid and hiding in the shadows, her bravery and mischievousness made her a perfect foil for Nichol’s steady and serious nature. Her ability to think on her feet and willingness to do whatever it takes in times of fear or danger show her to be a truly intrepid heroine. It was amazing to see her coming out of her shell, determining that she will stand up for herself even against Nichol, and find a way to get herself out from under the thumb of those that have always keep her light from shining through. Nichol spent the majority of the story exasperated and confused as Maura ties him into notes again and again. Nichol was also dealing with very intense feelings from his past and having to come to terms with some hard truths about himself, but I think in doing so it made it easier for him to trust in his feelings for Maura. In the end Nichol broke my heart again and again, watching him fall in love and find himself almost as much as Maura was, making this truly a story of self-discovery for two perfectly matched individuals that were badly in need of one another.
Seduced by a Scot is an amazing story, though I honestly cannot place which of the characters was truly the one seducing the other, but I was definitely seduced by the story itself and will enjoy reading more than once. Maura and Nichol were interesting characters on a fun adventure together with twists and turns that led them right into one another’s arms and I loved experiencing it along with them. Nichol is a sexy Scot with a penchant for solving problems for those that should know better than to get themselves into them in the first place; he is sensual and also has an amazing ability to keep a woman on her toes and steal her heart. Maura is a sweet girl who finally decides that enjoying her life and taking control of it is more important than keeping those around her happy. Once she decides to stop hiding herself, Maura becomes a fitting counterpart for Nichol Bain and together they can overcome anything in their path. The passion between them, even when they are arguing, is palpable and enough to make readers wonder is Nichol will be able to resist the innocent Maura. I also loved the epilogue to this story, where previous characters were brought back and we get to see how everything is all connected in the later years for Nichol and Maura. If this is the end of the series I will be sad to see it end, but I know that something new will be coming to keep me interested and thrilled in the future as Julia London is amazing and I am a huge fan. I cannot wait for whatever comes next either way, Julia!

Maura is the ward of a prominent Scottish family and involved in a scandal. The family turns to Nichol to fix the problem. He decides that Maura needs an older gentleman to marry her to take care of the scandal. Maura has other ideas and decides she wants Nichol. How will this problem be solved? Will Nichol and Maura end up as a couple or will he convince her to marry another man? A good read.

I received a copy of this book via Netgalley and am leaving a review.

London's latest Scotland set romance features a mysterious "fixer" for the elite and the woman he is charged with spiriting away from a family scandal. I liked that London explores what it was really like to be a woman with no family protection, always at the mercy of others, and concocts a daring plot to get her and the hero to their HEA.

I've so enjoyed this series by Julia London and this book did not disappoint. Nichol Bain, the man used to fixing all sorts of problems, met his match in Maura and it was fun to watch. Sexy, emotional and Scotland - a winning combination!

Seduced by A Scot was a good historical romance, with some interesting characters who have found each other in the most surprising way.

Nichol Bain was the man of situation, arranging any inquiries for rich families. That time it put him right into the path of Maura Darby, who had to be sent away and marry a man she barely knew.

It supposed to be just a simple business affair turned into something more.

I found the plot pretty interesting, and I was pretty excited to see how these two would lead us. However, it took me a long time to get into the story and really get along with the heroine who wasn’t a character I connected first, the pace at the beginning of the story didn’t help. I couldn’t feel any appeal to her. In spite of her sassy personality, boldness and independence. I really needed some time to get into. Mostly until the half part of it.

And suddenly, when the author finally settled the pace and found the right rhythm, it began to be so much more interesting, totally revealing Maura, giving more depth as the story unfolds. She wasn’t letting any man ruining her life, this situation making her stronger. Poor Nichol didn’t know what was going to hit him. Falling in love with a woman who wasn’t going to be his.

I enjoyed reading Maura and Nichol’s journey. The banter kept me entertained. It was quite enchanting, really hot with a strong hint of sass.

Nichol Bain is very skilled at fixing problems for aristocrats and is summoned by a wealthy man when his daughter's pending marriage is in trouble. He soon realizes the problem and undertakes the removal of the beautiful ward, Maura Darby, from the household. He plans to escort her to an arranged marriage with his friend, Mr. Dunnan Cockburn. Such is his plan. However, Maura is tired of being meek and quiet and neglected by those who should care for her and will not have anything to do with this. The journey has become very interesting.

I loved this story! Nichol finally finds out about his father and their history becomes clearer. Maura and Nichol find each other and warmth, family, and love.

Thanks to the publisher and to NetGalley for an ARC; all opinions are my own.
