Meh... the beginning of this book kept my attention but then lost it pretty quickly. The writing style was different and hard to follow at times. There was lots of unnecessary repeating. I did finish the book, but it was a struggle.
I would like to thank NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

This novel has a great storyline but a little predictable in spots. That being said, I did enjoy reading it. It kept me engaged even though I had the ending figured out. I would recommend it to anyone wanting a mystery/thriller. Thanks to Saint Copy PR and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

This book was difficult for me to finish. I was fond of the idea behind this story and liked the beginning but then it started to get a little too predictable. It got to be a bit repetitive at times as well.
However, the story itself was well written and well thought out.
I think if you don't normally read books from the mystery genre, then you'll more than likely find this one more enjoyable.
I would like to thank NetGalley for this opportunity to read this advanced copy of The Practice Baby in exchange for my honest review.

The practice baby by Ardor has the potential for so much more than what it was. The beginning of the story kept my attention for some time but then it started to lose me. When I finally got to a point that I was back on track it became way too predictable. Maybe it was just me and I have become used to stories where it is hard to figure out whodunnit but either way this one really could have been so much better.
3 out of 5 stars

This was a painfully bad and predictable read. It was obvious from the beginning exactly how the whole story would play out. No real suspense or mystery. Also the lead character was weirdly obsessed with thinking people were gay or remarking how people could be gay. The whole thing was quite uncomfortable to read.
What kind of GP refers a patient and their 19 year old partner for potential ivf and gene therapy? Ridiculous.

I love this book. I read the whole book in one sitting, I couldn’t put it down, it was that exciting. It is an exceptional, well thought out story, entertaining and fast paced. It has believable, true to life characters and the writing has a pleasing flow. The author has a wonderful talent for establishing the relationships of all the characters. I look forward to reading more books from this author.

I am a bit ambivalent about this book- I do like different settings and new surroundings but the story was a little frustrating. It become pretty clear who the bad guys are, and why it takes her so long to figure it out bugged me.
As a single mom and doctor, she tries to uncover the mystery of a death, and it takes her a long time to do it.
Not a lot of common sense, but it is a nice little story for the airplane.

I was looking forward to reading this, though when I finally started, it took me forever to get through.. I don't see how the title connects with the story; for some reason I expected it more to be around Tom in a completely different way.
The story itself was well written, the storyline was nice - though a little bit slow sometimes - the characters and their ways and quirks were good.

Just finished The Practice Baby and I’m still not sure how I feel about it. The suspense and the pace was good but can be very predictable. Everyone and their dead grandma knew who the killer was except for our main character Dr. Dee. I honestly found her to be pretty annoying and had a hard time feeling any remorse for her. I wanted to shout at her out of frustration at times though. I would recommend it to those who want a quick suspense read that you’ll probably forget soon afterwards.

Great holiday book.set in Australia. Can identify with the characters.sort of crime /love story, would definitely buy this book for my sister 5stars

There were many times when I was tempted to put this book down and walk away from its predictable story. I'm sorry that I didn't although I confess to skimming through large parts of it. There is no mystery in this so-called mystery. In addition to its predictable story line it offers little suspense (except perhaps about Raj) and even less flavor of Australia's bush country. While I might accept Dee as a GP, I would not want her for a parent or a friend. She ignored all the appropriate steps, most especially examining the data until the last third of the book and then set out on a journey that she survived only because the author needed her to be the heroine. For other readers who also are lured by the comparison with Jane Harper's wonderful novels I can say only to look elsewhere. I'm sorry to say that The Practice Baby is a complete letdown.

One star is for a book I did not finish.
Two stars is for a book I did finish, but did not enjoy reading. And this was the case with The Practice Baby, because of its predictability. Where were all the twists and turns? I've been screaming to the Kindle screen for the biggest part of the book to open the Peak Flow Charts, which occurred to Dee at 76% of the book. I kept thinking the story couldn't be this thin, there had to be something else going on... was Raj an accomplice? Surely, Adam couldn't have done all of this on his own...

Dee is a gp and single mother whose husband has left her for a student 30 years her junior and moved to the city. Tom is her patient, a reliable patient who is always on time, with a predisposition for Asperger's syndrome. One morning he doesn't turn up for his appointment. This Is unsettling to Dee; she has known Tom for twenty five years, from five days after he was born (one of her 'practice babies') - he has never been late or missed an appointment, except when he was an infant, when he was under the control of his unorganized and marijuana reliant mother, Skye.
The reason for the no show is that Tom is dead. According to the autopsy report cause of death was due to an acute asthma attack, that Dee doesn't believe due to Tom's obsessiveness of monitoring his health. She has a list of suspects and motives, including an ex-druggie stepfather with a past of violence, who helps look after his autistic brother with a possible eye on Tom's life insurance, a non-contactable girlfriend who claims that a man is watching her and the fertility doctor Adam whom Tom had been investigating hours before his death.
Gp turned detective with a close friend and Tom's previous employer Raj, they try to find a missing Leah and get to the bottom of their friends death.
I read this book in a day, I could not put it down. The storyline is well thought out and written excellently, the author did a great job creating the relationships of the people and their past. I have already made my fellow bookworm aware of it's release in the next few months and that putting this gripping murder thriller on their to read list!
