This book addresses many topics in a short amount of time. Though the topics addressed were serious the book moved quickly through the resolutions. Not everything can be taken care of in such a short amount of time but the book did try to bring to light that even though people may try their best to shelter themselves from the evils of the world it can find you and you must seek the tools to live with or overcome what is presented to you. And it's always best to do it fully supported.

Prolific author Davids starts a new series, set in Maine, with a fledgling Amish community and plenty of layers (and not just the outerwear needed for the stark cold and snow). The author’s trademark wit and charm are fully in place, and readers will fall in love with the endearing characters - particularly a dog named Sadie Sue who steals hearts just as much as she steals the show. Her relationship with Michael (who is recovering from PTSD) and with Jenny (the heroine’s little sister) are both so well-written that readers may find themselves wishing a dog like Sadie Sue would find them too. At the core of the story is Bethany Martin’s struggle to raise her siblings alone (particularly her troubled brother Ivan), her blossoming friendship with Michael, and Michael’s battle to overcome his PTSD. Well-written with a sweet romance and lovable characters, this is the perfect choice to get in the mood for Christmas and winter weather!

In this book, Patricia Davids has given us a compelling story of two people who are facing difficulty and uncertainty as to what their futures hold. I was drawn into the story from the first chapter. I could empathize with the struggles of Michael and Bethany. There’s a strong theme of faith, hope, and forgiveness all throughout this book, and the ending fills your heart with encouragement and hope.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Bethany Martin and her grandfather have been raising her siblings since her little sister, Jenny, was a baby. But now that their grandfather has died, and her younger brother, Ivan has been getting into trouble. The Bishop tells her that Ivan should go to stay with their uncle after Christmas, but Bethany is determined to do everything that she can to keep her family together.

Michael Shelter has come to Maine looking for a fresh start, he's expecting to work with Elijah, Bethany's grandfather, but when he arrives she gives him the bad news.

Will Bethany be able to keep her family together in time for Christmas?

Michael is still trying to recover from the past that is haunting him. He finds a dog, Sadie Sue, who starts following him around and seems to sense his PTSD attacks. Bethany offers him a job, and the use of their cabin, to help them stay on top of their business. He tries to keep to himself, but the Martins draw him out, inviting him into their lives. He is especially good with Ivan, giving him good advice, helping to guide him into manhood. He is also great with Jenny, and so is Sadie Sue.

I like how Bethany and Michael get to know each other, they both have a great sense of humor. Bethany appreciates Michael's support, and is working to convince the Bishop not to have Ivan sent away. Michael admires Bethany's commitment to her faith and her family.

Frank is a good friend to Michael and to Bethany, he encourages them, and gives great words of wisdom to Michael.

There is a lot going on in this story, and I like that. There is great interaction between Bethany and Michael, as they work together to help Ivan. All the while Michael is trying to deal with his past on his own. Great characters, that you want to cheer for, and a fantastic ending.

"An Amish Wife for Christmas" tells the story of Bethany, a young Amish woman who is tasked with caring for her younger brother and sister, while trying to maintain the family farm. Set in Maine in the newly established Amish community of New Covenant, the story focuses on Bethany's growing attraction to an Amish newcomer, who seems to harbor some dark secrets to be overcome. The ways in which Bethany and her siblings help him become part of the Amish community make up the main story line.

This book was the first one I read by Patricia Davids. I am a big fan of Amish romances and novels, and this one ranks right up there as one of my favorites. The plot moves forward at a good pace. The characters are interesting and keenly drawn. I especially liked the inclusion of problems such as vandalism, domestic violence, and PTSD. Past Amish novels I have read sometimes seemed to paint a picture-perfect existence of Amish life in small rural communities. This one seemed quite realistic and provided a very enjoyable read that I could not put down.

This book was provided to me by the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The opinions provided here are entirely my own.

This story takes place in a very small Amish community tucked way up at the top of Maine, and consists of just a few families. Bethany Martin’s Grandfather was the one responsible for making the move to this remote area, and now he has passed. This girl has a lot of responsibilities for a young woman, she is the sole caregiver for her teenage brother and six-year-old sister.
Enter a new comer who it seems has an arrangement with Bethany’s grandfather to work and live on the property. An answer to a prayer, well, she has a real challenge in her life, her young brother.
Will this new comer be able to help her and be the answer to her prayers, or will his demons keep him prisoner?
We find some really sweet moments, and see some very sad problems, but are there answers here, and in time for Christmas?

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Harlequin, and was not required to give a positive review.

Patricia Davis always seems to give the most gut wrenching Amish Romance stories ever. This one made me cry a time or two and even laugh, but the faith thru out the book kept me going.

Bethany is trying her best to raise her siblings ever since her parents passed away, but is having a hard time ever since her brother is causing a much in the community.
She meets the every so caring and strong willed Micheal, and knows he was guided to her by faith. Micheal he has secrets and only God knows if Bethany can work threw them all.
A beautiful story of strong Faith and Love A wonderful holiday read!

I recently discovered Patricia Davids when I received an ARC for an anthology she was part of. I loved the story she wrote and promptly bought and read a number of her other books.

I was so pleased to receive an ARC for her new series. I really enjoy her writing style. Her characters are always such lovely people that are a joy to read about.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy.
