I keep reading this series and I'm not entirely sure why. I loved her Sea Haven series, and enjoyed her Sisters of the Heart series. This series just doesn't work for me as much. I feel like she's spending far too much time relishing the descriptions of the horror these people went through as children. I am interested in the characters and their stories, I'm just repulsed by the descriptions of torture and rape. It's like she's trying to desensitize us to the horror with repeated descriptions. It might even be working, because those scenes are just boring and repetitive. That said, I know some people really love this series. I just don't get it.

Another exciting heartfelt story in this series. Recommended for the sexy bikers and the tough, emotional women they find to complete their lives.

I don't remember requesting this book. I've found the last several books from Feehan I haven't enjoyed. So I've stepped away from her writing. I don't want to leave bad reviews for an author due to my breaking up with them.

Despite Christine Feehan being a huge name in the paranormal romance genre, I had never read one of her books. There's just too many books to read and too little time! However, the blurb for VENGEANCE ROAD sounded really interesting, so I figured no time like the present to try this new to me author that everyone else already knows. After reading this book, I have to say that I really enjoyed Christine's writing style and the rich depth of the story. It's a hefty book, and definitely feels fuller than most romances. I will say that I was surprised at how light the paranormal aspects of the book were. Think more light paranormal-esque rather than full PNR. But I didn't feel it detracted from the story at all, it just wasn't what I expected.

Onto the romance; I have to admit, the hero was just a bit too much for me in VENGEANCE ROAD, and because of that I had a hard time connecting to the romance. Don't get me wrong, I like a uber strong and protective alpha hero just as much as the next gal, but Steele, he's a whole another level of control freak. His past is explained throughout the book and the reasons for his almost insane need to keep Breezy in sights at all times made some logical sense. However, there were many times while reading this book that his action and behavior were just too much, and frankly made me feel uncomfortable. It's written in a way to try and paint it with Breezy being the perfect match for him and not caring about that level of control. And yet... I felt like screaming through the pages at her to RUN away as fast as she could it was just that intense. This unfortunately is just not a normal reaction while reading a romance novel, even when you love fierce and damaged alpha heros as much as I do. Steele was just too much for this romance lovers heart to overlook.

All in all, while I enjoyed the storytelling and the writing style of my first Christine Feehan read, I couldn't really connect to the story due to the hero and his all but abusive level of control. I'll definitely try other books from this author in the future as I felt like there was great potential while reading this book, but VENGEANCE ROAD itself just didn't work for me.

The Torpedo Ink Motorcycle Club rides again in the second installment of Christine Feehan’s paranormal biker series. This book is the story of the club’s VP, Steele, and his former ‘old lady’ Breezy. As the daughter of a deplorable biker, Breezy has sworn off club life, but when she’s forced to find Steele she’s once again plunged into a lifestyle she detests. I enjoy a good former-lovers tale. I like when a couple has a backstory rife with dramatic angst and Vengeance Road delivers.

The paranormal aspects of Torpedo Ink are subtle. The members of the club are gifted Russian assassins trained for dispassionate cruelty. Some of their gifts include mind and wildlife control as well as stealth – to the point of supernatural – movement. The group barely escaped their depraved captor and horrific destiny to establish a close-knit club and de facto family in America. As a result of their conditioning, the group is merciless when they need to be and have established a network of a vigilante nature.

I’ve read both books in the series; Vengeance Road and its predecessor Judgement Road. They are fabulous reads, but will not be for everyone. Some readers may find the books a little over-long. They contain descriptions of horrendous violence and abhorrent abuse – mental, physical, and sexual. Despite their terrible past, members of Torpedo Ink have a strong moral compass and attempt to use their knowledge of a seedy, criminal underworld to exact a brand of cold, ruthless justice. The male members of Torpedo Ink are chauvinists and their language and behaviour had me rolling my eyes more than once; the language and terminology while likely accurate for the lifestyle is awkward at best and abusive at worst. This is certainly not uncommon for this genre. Finally, this book is teeming with graphic descriptions of sex. Fans of Feehan have come to expect generous amounts of scintillating sizzle. Torpedo Ink is no exception.

Warnings issued, Vengeance Road is a special brand of paranormal romance and Torpedo Ink will certainly be a fan favourite. I, for one, plan to follow the series like a bad-ass patch-chaser.

I initially started with a paranormal panther romance by Feehan that turned out to be fairly mediocre with a disjointed plot, too many details not flowing without effort, and more erotica than substance. However, the excerpt I read of her forthcoming novel, “Vengeance Road,” had me intrigued and I requested a copy from NetGalley to review. It was decidedly more entertaining, with a fluid story line and stronger character development. I have not read much of her other work, but I would say if you are hoping for a titillating romance with a fair amount of erotica and fun character interaction, she is a reliable good read. I recommend “Vengance Road” for all its motorcycle induced romantic mystery thrills.

This is the second book in Feehan’s Torpedo Ink series. This is a spin-off of her Sisters of the Heart series. In Bound Together (the fifth and final book), Viktor Prakenskii brings his motorcycle club to Caspar, which neighbors Sea Haven. All Viktor (Czar) and his club want is to make a home. A home that Czar has been promising them since they were children in Russian forced into “schools” that almost destroyed them.

Steele is the Vice President of Torpedo Ink. Steele doesn’t regret much in his life. There isn’t time for regret. There is one person he will never forget: Breezy Simmons. While undercover at the most dangerous motorcycle club in the country, Steele met the only woman that would ever be meant for him. It seriously fucked with his head when he found out that she was only 17. When it was time to bring down the club, Steele didn’t want her caught in the crossfire so he did the only thing he could. He chased her away with words he would never be able to take back.

Now Breezy is back and she has a message for Steele. Walking into Torpedo Ink is one of the hardest things she’s ever done, but she has no other choice. Her own father and brother has abducted her son. Steele’s son. Their son. She will do anything to get Zane back, even walk back into the life she has left and never wants to be a part of again. However, she doesn’t count on Steele’s feelings for her. Or that he would even have any feelings for her after the things he said to her when he dumped her.

Now that Breezy is back, Steele will never let her go again. He’s angry that she didn’t find him when she was pregnant, but he forgives her. He forgives her for a lot of things. WTAF? He’s the one that left her. He’s the one that ran her off. Sure, he gave her money, but still. WTAF. Steele drove me batshit at first. Literally I wanted to strangle him. When they were going to meet someone at the beginning of the book to get some information on Zane, Breezy walked out and saw everyone on their motorcycles. She never wanted to get on a motorcycle again so she just sort of froze. This was Steele’s reaction:

“What’s the hold up? Get a move on, woman. We’re going to be late.”

He got better toward the end of the book. It soon became apparent that Steele has severe PTSD stemming from his time in Russia. It was heartbreaking to read. Simply heartbreaking. Breezy (I really disliked this name. A lot), was always there for Steele. She simply let him be. She never asked more than he could give. She was just a calming presence in his life.

I really did end up enjoying this book when I started to understand Steele. Breezy had her own past to deal with and Steele was with her through every moment. These two needed each other. They just had to find a way that was right for both of them. In the end, it’s really about compromise and knowing that relationships are perfect. It’s life.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I got this ARC from Netgalley because I really like the author and I loved the show Sons of Anarchy. Breezy is a girl who is in big trouble. She has been blackmailed to get into a rival biker gang and kill their #1 and #2. There is a huge problem...the #2 is her ex who also happens to be her baby daddy unbeknownst to him. To make matters worse, it is her own father who beat her up, kidnapped her toddler, and mandated the kill order. Her ex, Steele, is a hardass dude with a lot of emotional baggage that crops up when his heart opens up to Breezy and his son. He will basically go to the deep puts of hell and back for his woman, his son, and his MC. As usual in a book by Feehan, the sex is steamy and graphic. This is not a lighthearted romance. It is painful, emotional, and very sexual.

I've been waiting to type up my review of Vengeance Road by Christine Feehan because it did take a bit to finish the second book in the series. I'm still getting a feel of the series to find if I honestly like this series or not. I love MC Romance, and I love what Christine Feehan has done with the characters in the series and how they are not the usual Motorcycle Club. They are assassins trying to put down roots in California. They're also trying to make a difference and go after the bad guys, especially ones that are traffickers, pedophiles, etc. They didn't become assassins overnight, and each book so far goes a little deeper into the characters backgrounds and how they became how they are today.

The second book in the series introduces the readers to Steele who is the VP of Torpedo Ink. He's also known as the Doctor for having healing abilities. His world is about to turn upside down when his past comes back into his life which he ended up telling he didn't want anymore in his life. Breezy Simmons is back, and she needs Steele's help. Steele is not going to let her out of his life a second time, especially after finding out what she needs to him to help her with, which is not something he was expecting.

Things I liked in the second book:

1. I love the Torpedo Ink characters and how they protect each other. They feel like a Motorcycle Club, but I love that they are Assassins with their abilities. This book went a little further with more into the other characters. I like Code and Lana.

2. I also love how the secondary characters step in to protect the main characters and help influence them in the stories for their decisions. Breezy needed a lot of convincing since Steele said some rough things to her to make her leave him. There's also Blythe and Czar in the story with their kids that influence her about Torpedo Ink is different from her from the club she grew up in with her father and brother.

3. The action-packed scenes and how the Torpedo Ink characters, plus Steele and Breezy took down the bad guys in the story. I despised the bad guys.

Things I didn't like in the second book:

1. The surprise at the beginning of the book. It's one of the big no's for me in stories. Although once I read further into the story and found out what Steele did to Breezy, I hated him for what I did, then, of course, he gave his reasoning too.

2. Steele has intimate pictures of both him and Breezy that he had one of the other Torpedo Ink guys took of them. Breezy had no idea of it at first.

3. Steele is VERY controlling and protective. Some readers may not like Steele. I mean he has cameras everywhere in his house, and he wants to know where Breezy is at all times. It's kind of crazy. Although, towards the end of the book I found out why he was like this and I understood him better. It took a while though.

4. I hate abusive relationships of any kind, especially when it comes to women and children getting abused. The former club Breezy grew up in with her father and brother was like that, and I hated them in this story. (They also were sick and twisted.) I was rooting for Torpedo Ink to take them down immediately and felt for Breezy.

Story Rating: 3.5 stars

Steaminess Rating: 4 stars

Standalone or part of series: Book is part of Torpedo Ink series.

Do I recommend this book?  I recommend if you enjoy MC Romance with Dark elements in it.

Will I read other books from the author? Yes. I'm also going to continue reading this series because I want to read some of the other characters books that I'm interested in finding out more about in the series.

Tropes/Elements/Triggers: Second Chance Lovers; Motorcycle Club; Assassins; Heroine was very young, when she was with Hero. Hero had no idea that she was underage and it bothered him; Hero has pictures of both himself and the heroine while having sex without the heroine's consent; Hero: VP of Torpedo Ink, Tortured/Damaged, Very Controlling, Assassin, Doctor; Heroine: daughter of rival MC, abused by father/brother and used by former MC.

While I really loved the book overall I felt that it was really repetitive in the emotions and conversations between the main characters.

I was incredibly excited for Vengeance Road! Judgment Road was amazing and I was anxious to see how this special MC continued. These men are different. They all have special abilities, but they are not a predominant part of the story. Every one of them comes from a special school in Russia where they endured unbelievable, torturous conditions. They have been through a lot and Christine Feehan spares nothing as their pasts are described. I was shocked, I cried and my heart broke into tiny pieces.

Breezy grew up in a MC and experienced a lot of abuse. When she finally got away from it all, the last thing she wants is to be pulled into another MC. However, Torpedo Ink is not anything like the MC she grew up in. She needs help, and she’s come to the MC to get that help. There is a big connection to this club that drives her to find Torpedo Ink and ask for their help. Breezy is a strong person, even though she didn’t seem to be to me at first. But as she takes on Steele, and all of his problems, her personality comes out and you see just how perfect she is for Steele.

Steele and Breezy go through such an emotional ride and the threat they face is so personal. I was scared for them and was shocked by how Feehan didn’t hold back with the treatment of the characters. It pulled me into this world where I was terrified for everyone. Vengeance Road is dark, gritty and fascinating as you dive into a world of abuse, death and severe trauma. You are left with such an emotional connection to the Steele after all he’s endured and what he deals with on a day to day basis. I can’t get this couple out of my head after days of finishing the book.

Each of the characters has a shocking, terrible past and I’m left dying for the next book. I want each of these characters to find happiness after everything they’ve been through. Savage showed a lot of roughness in this book and I’m wondering how Feehan is going to get around his issues.

I don’t think I can properly explain the feelings that Vengeance Road provoked from me, but I can’t recommend this series enough. Just be prepared. It is raw and deals with some pretty terrible issues that are not for the faint of heart. I love Torpedo Ink and the next book can’t come fast enough for me!

I try to read all of Christine Feehans books. I have enjoyed all of her series. Vengeance Road is part of a new Motor Cycle club series. I as m not as fond of this series as I am of the others. It is grittier and darker than some of her other series. This story, about a club member and his former girlfriend had as an interesting twist. She reaches out to him to help save the son he didnt know existed. I will try to read the next book but the series has not captured my attention like her other books. Just personal preference.

Really enjoyed this story! Breezy has to get to Steele even if it kills her, but if she can’t get him to listen to her someone will die. Steele can’t believe when Breezy walks into the clubhouse and sees him in a compromising position but with a grace she has always had she gives one of them a note for him. Steele let Breezy go three years ago but he had a job to do and he had to save her life but he was never happy after that. When he reads her note he refuses to let her leave and he and all of his brothers will be together to get this done and maybe help heal the pain he left behind so maybe the can be a couple again.
Strong characters and a sense of family.

It’s a good idea to read the books in order so you won't be lost, but I think this book could be read as a standalone.

Steele is the VP of Torpedo Ink. They are a biker club who are seeking to right some of the wrongs of the world. The men and women of Torpedo Ink were raised in "boarding schools" in Russia, where they learned things that most adults never do: how to fight, seduce people, and how to kill. Those who were strong, survived. The survivors carry the guilt and weight of those who did not.

Steele met Breezy when he infiltrated her father's biker gang. That club was part of a larger group that trafficked men, women, and children for their own enjoyment and monetary gain. Steele loves Breezy but he knows that he has to send her away so that when the club falls, she will not be caught in the middle.

Now, she's back. It’s been three years since he sent her packing and he hasn't been able to find her. She hid herself well, but her father and brother managed to find her and now they are using something she holds near and dear against her, to make her do their bidding. Kill Steele.

When Steele finds out that they beat up Breezy and are now holding their son hostage until they know for sure that Steele is dead, he's determined to bring down everyone that had a hand in hurting Breezy and their child.

The characters of Steele and Breezy are well written and the reader can feel the emotions humming on the page. Both Steele and Breezy have a lot of guilt and angst to confront and deal with before they can truly make a relationship work.

I enjoyed this story and can't wait for the next book in the series.

(3.5-3.7 stars)
The Torpedo Ink series is a unique take on motorcycle clubs and how not everything is as they appear. I think this is what I like most about Christine Feehan’s newest series; these men have endured so much at the hands of monsters and yet they still thrive to be better, do better the only way they know how. Torpedo Ink is action-packed, fast paced, and emotionally charged.

“Baby, you’re reading the situation completely wrong. I know you don’t need saving. I do. I need you to save me.”

Breezy Simmons has had a hard life. She grew up in and around clubs; her father was the leader of one so she knew what life was like for women in many of them. She was beaten, passed around like trash, and expected to meet the every whim of the men in the club. After she’s banned from the only life she’s known she learns to lean on nobody but her self. Steele has lived through lifetimes and lifetimes of horrors. The time he spent with Breezy was the best in his life so when she shows up out of the blue, slams a letter down on a table, and runs like a bat out of hell, he knows he won’t be able to let her go this time. I loved both characters. They were easy to connect with and their stories left my heart aching. Breezy came off as strong when it mattered most, but she understood the life of a biker club well. Steele knew his faults and accepted them head on which I found refreshing.

Overall, it was a good read. I don’t want to spoil the plot or giveaway the pleasant surprise in the beginning, but I will say this is definitely a second chance romance that will warm your heart. There were a few things about the story that didn’t sit well with me, but I think Feehan brought it up well, explained it, and showed the importance of it. I also had to keep in mind the type of people her characters were and the background that they have.

Torpedo Ink is a series I do want more of. Even with the nuances that gave me pause, I still found it to be enjoyable. Feehan has been and will always be a favorite of mine.

This is book two in this fantastic new series.
Steele is the VP of Torpedo Ink and he had Breezy once and pushed her away and now she has returned with more than just bruises.
The club is now on a mission to save a precious bundle that Breezy never told Steele about. Breezy, however, is not that meek woman she once was. After a horrible life, and being thrown away by Steele she is strong and he isn't going to win her easily.
Action packed, chills and emotions just like a great book should give.
I can not wait to see whose story we get next. I suggest this story if you love a great MC book with all the emotions. I think it can be read as a stand-alone however I'd suggest grabbing the first book.

I was gifted this fantastic book by the publisher and I thank them very much for that.

I do like this series but there is a lot of details that are hard to keep track of. Sure there is a legend but at times I can feel quite lost but once you get over that the characters are hard not to love.

In Vengeance Road this time it's Steele's turn to fall. And whom he falls for is Breezy Simmons. A young woman who he met in the past when he was undercover, but then she was YOUNG.

Steele likes his woman the more the better but that is to fill a missing piece of him, whom walks back into his life giving him and his men a warning. However, she just didn't come for the warning as she was also carrying a very large secret that shocks Steele and the others.

I did like Breezy and Steele but at times Breezy's youngness got on my nerves with her never taking the time to listen and only to assume. Once she gets over that, which took quite awhile, she finally realizes that not is all what she assumed (shocking... not).

Besides that the book has many layers and dimensions to it. As well as many characters. With all the details it makes it a bit tough at times but worth the struggle. However, I can't wait for more from this series.

4.5 stars--VENGEANCE ROAD is the second instalment in Christine Feehan’s contemporary, adult TORPEDO INK slighty-paranormal, erotic romance series focusing on the men and women of the Torpedo Ink MC. This is Breezy Simmons, and Torpedo Ink MC vice president Lyov ‘Steele’ Russak’s story line. VENGEANCE ROAD can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalment is revealed where necessary. The TORPEDO INK series is a spin-off from the author’s SEA HAVEN SERIES but you do not have to have read the original series to follow Torpedo Ink.

NOTE: Most of the characters including Torpedo Ink club president Victor ‘Czar’ Prakenski, and his wife Blythe Daniels were introduced in the final instalment of the author’s Sea Haven Series BOUND TOGETHER.

WARNING: VENGEANCE ROAD contains scenes, and makes reference to graphic violence, rape, murder, torture, child prostitution, and abuse against children, women and men, and therefore, may not be suitable for all readers.

SOME BACKGROUND: At the tender age of ten years old, Victor ‘Czar’ Prakenski set about to save and rescue over three hundred children from one of four Russian child sex-slave operations but in the end only eighteen survived. The Torpedo Ink series focuses on the survivors: their stories, their history, and their happily ever afters.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Steele and Breezy) VENGEANCE ROAD follows the second chance romance between Breezy Simmons, and Torpedo Ink MC vice president Lyov ‘Steele’ Russak. Four years earlier Lyov ‘Steele’ Russak went undercover with the Swords MC where he met and fell for Breezy Simmons, the daughter of the Swords MC President. Things went from bad to worse when secrets were revealed, and Steele maliciously pushed Breezy out of his life. Fast forward to present day wherein Breezy is desperate for Steele and Torpedo Ink MC help, help she knows will permanently bring Steele back into her life. What ensues is the rebuilding relationship and romance between Steele and Breezy, and the potential fall-out as Breezy is unable to come to terms between the man that she loves, and the man who pushed her out of his life.

Steele is a natural healer but like all of the Russian sex-slave survivors, Steele is a trained assassin; a stone-cold killer who isn’t afraid of protecting the people he loves. When Breezy’s past begins to spiral out of control threatening everything and everyone she loves, Steele and his Torpedo Ink family make it their priority to save one of their own.

The relationship between Breezy and Steele is one of second chances; a rekindling romance that struggles with sins of the past, and Steele’s treatment of our heroine three years earlier. Steele struggles with the memories of his time spent as a child sex-slave for the Russian mob, memories that continue to haunt our story line (anti) hero. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic, aggressive and intense.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and charismatic secondary and supporting characters-Steele’s Torpedo Ink family- a family of survivors who have endured years of torture, rape, abuse and an education in the world of the deviant and sick.

The world building continues to focus on the years of abuse suffered at the hands of the Russian mob: the recovery and revenge; the betrayal and ramifications; the heart break, and damage caused to a group of children (now adults) and their struggle to accept, grieve and move forward with lives. As I have stated before in many of my reviews, I have remarked on the author’s increasing violent story lines and abuse against women and children but in the case of the Torpedo Ink series, the violence is part of their history and lives-ingrained and imbedded –into their very existence. The story line heroes are not the perpetrators of the violence and abuse against the women they love but are the saviors and salvation of those who suffered years before.

VENGEANCE ROAD is a heart breaking, painful and graphic story line of abuse and betrayal; vengeance and retribution. The characters are animated, broken but recovering; the romance is hard and impassioned. Christine Feehan pulls the reader into the dark and gritty world of Torpedo Ink.

Review brought to you by OBS reviewer Caro

Although this is the second book in the Torpedo Ink series, this is actually the third story for a member of the motorcycle club and let me tell you that Vengeance Road is my favorite so far! The other two stories started off the series really great, but this book if filled with surprises that leave the reader wanting more.

Breezy Simmons has had a difficult life within her father’s motorcycle club, she was forced to do things she didn’t want to yet that did not stop her from taking care of as many kids in her same situation within the club. Her life changed when Steele joined the Swords along long time friend and brother, Czar, undercover in order to bring the club down. Breezy and Steele were together for a year until Steele banned her from the club in order to protect her because of their relationship. Three years have passed and Breezy is back to ask for help and warn Torpedo Ink about the Swords’ plans.

Looking back at the previous Torpedo Ink books and their female characters, Breezy has the most in common as main female character with her love interest. She was raised in an abusive environment and then, in a away, helped by Steele’s club to leave that life behind and start anew. Breezy becomes an independent woman who is able to get her G.E.D. while balancing work and life. When her life once more changes because of the Swords’ plan to bring Torpedo Ink down, she sets her mind to do everything she can to get herself out of trouble and only looks for Steele as a last resort.

What Breezy doesn’t know is that Steele has been looking for her ever since the events of Bound Together and Hidden Currents were solved. Steele had pushed her away because he didn’t want her in danger knowing that Torpedo Ink was going into war with the Swords. Steele, like the rest of his brothers and sisters, had never had someone special to care for until he met Breezy while undercover. Now that he knows that Breezy is safe he is going to try everything he can to get her back and her forgiveness.

The Torpedo Ink series is one of Christine Feehan’s book series with topics that deal with difficult themes. The stories talk about sexual abuse, kidnapping, human trafficking, drugs and alike, some themes of which readers heard of them in her other series but were introduced in the Sea Haven and Drake Sisters books to start off this series. In Vengeance Road both Steele and Breezy have been victims of abusive childhoods and understand one another. Breezy struggles with the idea of joining Steele and his MC not wanting to relive her childhood. At the end of the book, though still a little unsure, Breezy makes a new home along the Torpedo Ink members and begins trusting their MC life.

“Let’s get married. What’s mine belongs to you anyway. Not the bike, but the rest of it. All of it. It’s mostly got your name on it if it’s worth anything.”

This was a great book, with interesting characters, surprises and plenty of more information to look forward in future books. Readers still get mentions of past events and characters from Bound Together and Hidden Currents that could give us one of those big character reunions that only Feehan knows how to write! If you’re a fan of Feehan you can’t miss this book, it keeps you reading and at the edge of your sit from the moment chapter one begins.

Reviewing an ARC ebook version.

This is the 2nd book in the Torpedo Ink series (1st book being Judgement Road) I like that this series builds upon characters introduced in the previous Sea Haven series.

I enjoyed this story. I like the characters, and what their purpose in life has come to be, as rescuers of young children. I definitely will be reading the rest in the series and would recommend it during reader's advisory session. However, that recommendation would be peppered with a major word of caution beforehand about the mature content.

I realize that it is a romance, and due to the storyline, and what the characters went through in the younger years, that it would have some sex scenes, but it almost seems like there was a sex scene every 5-10 pages. Having read this author over the years, it seems like the books just keep getting more "raunchy", I found that there were times where I just skipped the heavier sex scenes (3-4 pages at a time) since it really wasn't needed to follow the story.
