I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I love fairytale retellings and Lucy Tempest did not disappoint.

This is an Aladdin retelling with a gender swap. We follow Adelaide as she fights for the Prince's heart against forty-nine others in order to steal a lamp for a Witch.

This is the first book in a series that I can't wait to see where else this takes us.

An Aladdin retelling with a twist! This was so exciting for me to pick up and devour! It took the story in a new direction and kept me hooked from the very beginning!

I really enjoyed this retelling of Aladdin, it added an exciting twist to a story I have loved since I was a kid.

Fairytale retellings are a favorite of mine in the Fantasy genre however Thief of Cahraman just could not hold my interest. A combination of the writing style and the actual storyline made this a DNF for me. Such a dissapointment as I had really high hopes.

I loved The Selection series but this one just wasn’t for me. It’s got great reviews however so you should give this a try if you’re interested.

I received this free eARC novel from NetGalley. This is my honest review.

This has been on my TBR pile for so long, and I'm glad I finally got around to it. I really enjoyed the storyline and seeing the characters change throughout the story was a great character development. The plot was great and kept my attention. I'm glad I got the chance to read this and will be on the lookout for more in the future!

A little slow and predictable at times, but I ended up really enjoying Thief of Cahraman. I had seen it compared to the Selection series, which I adored, and I found this book to be similar in some of the best ways! I sometimes find fantasy texts to be hard to follow when it comes to keeping up with the characters and locations, but this book kept me engaged. Thank you, NetGalley, for the ARC!

I enjoyed this YA fantasy! I was initially attracted to it because I had never read an Aladdin retelling. Although it is a retelling, the story feels new because “Aladdin” is now “Adelaide”. As she experiences set backs and challenges along the way, there is some romance included but I didn’t feel it was the main focus.

Would definitely recommend this book if you’re interested in YA fantasy.

I was so excited about this one but unfortunately it just wasn't for me. Not sure if I'll give the next book a try

Thief of Cahraman, was such a great read, I truly enjoyed reading this YA novel and looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

In the first book of the series, we find Adelaide thinking her life as a thief is over until a witch whisks her away to a far-a-way kingdom to participate in a heist. Stakes are high as she assumes the role of a noblewoman.

I love fairytale retellings! This on is a retelling of Aladdin. I loved Adelaide and really connected to her character. I enjoyed the world building. Excited to read the second book in this series.

This wonderful book was an original and refreshing fairy tale retelling. I enjoyed reading Adelaide's story very much and the gender swap from Aladdin to Adelaide was brilliant. I was also thrilled to note references to other fairy tales through the story that I'm sure will become their own stories at some point in this series.

A wonderful Aladdin retelling that takes you away to a faraway place. A lovely addition to your day.

Okay this is Aladdin meets The Selection and I loved every minute of it! The plot and characters were so well written and I have fallen in love with this world. If you love fairytale retellings, definitely give this a read.

After multiple attempts to read this book, I just couldn't connect to it. I love the idea of this book. The synopsis sounds so entertaining but the first 25% is very slow. This book just didn't work for me.

A slow start and the world-building development needed some work. Retelling or not, it could have used some originality instead of borrowing from The Selection.

This review is more of a general review of the whole trilogy than one of just the first book.

This trilogy is described as a retelling of Aladdin, and as I have not really read anything like this before, I was intrigued. To be honest, throughout the first book, I didn't see that many parallels to Aladdin. However, as I got into the second book, and definitely the third, I saw some familiar elements and themes. I think the author did a great job retelling this classic fairytale in her own unique way, without simply rehashing the same thing again. The world and characters she created are interesting, and there is room for other retellings. In fact, this book, while it comes to a conclusion, sets up the fourth novel in the series, which I have cued up to read.

I read the trilogy back to back over the course of two days. The second and third book leave off right where the previous book ended with no jumps in time, so the story was really easy to follow.

My only complaint is that, because the story is written for a YA audience, it does have a bit of a YA feel from time to time, but I was aware of what I was getting into when I read it and that didn't take away from the story. That being said, the characters were well-developed and the story was well-written that it was compelling enough for me to get lost in the world and read all three books.

There were also a few times when characters were in situations that were time-sensitive and they carried on long conversations that were not realistic to the scenario, but at least during these conversations things were explained that added to the story rather than having them chatter with a bunch of filler.

All in all a fun fairytale fantasy that has that hint of familiarity while being a completely new story.

Thank-you to NetGalley and the publisher for my advanced reader copy.

I received this as an eARC and audiobook to read for free in exchange for my honest review. Thank you to The Folkshore Press and NetGalley for giving me access.

It's Aladdin meets The Selection Series! This was such a fast read! I enjoyed the story more than I thought I would (that'll teach me to judge a book by its cover)

While there are some blatently obvious predictions, it was still fun to see the characters come to the realization of what you've known from the beginning.

Definitely will be reading the rest of this series and Tempest's other retellings!

This was a middle-of-the-road read for me. While I liked a lot of aspects, there were some things I disliked, and overall, I just didn't feel strongly enough about the book to really warrant adding an in-depth review to the blog.

I requested this book because the cover really caught my eye! I also love fairytale retellings, Aladdin and I enjoyed The Selection. So this seemed like a good pick. But WOW! I really wasn't ready to love it that much.
