Overall this was a cute romance. I find the whole matchmaking service angle fascinating so I may look into the actual novel this manga is based on. Probably my favorite of all the manga romances I read this month. Additionally, like the other manga, this book was started and finished within 1 hour.

Book Review

Title: Matched to a Billionaire

Author: Mio Takai, Kat Cantrell

Genre: Manga

Rating: ****

Review: So, we are introduced to Daniella on her wedding day, where we learn she is getting married to a man that she has never meant before. We then jump back several months, where we learn Daniella was looking for someone who could provide for her and her terminally ill mother and Leo is looking for someone who would support his very hectic and work-obsessed lifestyle. Both join a matchmaking service and obviously end up matched together where they agree to tie the knot almost immediately.

During their wedding, Daniella notices that Leo doesn’t kiss her properly or even spend their wedding night together and it continues this way from weeks and Daniella is getting lonely, but she is grateful as Leo has provided her with everything she has ever wanted and proper nursing facilities for her mother. We also learn that learn is so focused on work because he grew up poor as well and never want to return to that life, but he is also conscious of the fact that if he relaxes he might end up slipping back to that life.

As we cross into the second half of the story, we see Daniella and Leo developing a friendship, but it hasn’t transitioned into the realm of a physical relationship yet. In the end, Daniella and Leo have their issues but they do manage to work it out and find a nice balance in their relationship. Overall, I liked Matched to a Billionaire, but it did seem like a generic, run of the mill romance novel.

Thank you, NetGalley for the preview of this graphic novel.

This was such a cute read. I have always been a fan of 'Get married for benefits and fall in love later' trope, so this was. perfect.

Too short, too simple but with a wonderful artwork.
I love manga comics and it was very funny to read a romantic story in this format, the drawings are great, mostly focus on the MC. However, the story is too short and rush, it seems an experiment more than a book.
But I find the idea a lovely one and I hope to read more manga romance soon.
Thanks to Netgalley for the copy!

This was a cute read. Dani and Leo agree to marry for personal benefits but then fall madly in love with each other. Interesting enough that I may check out the actual novel.

The drawings are by far the best thing about the entire book, I really like the drawing style that is used in this manga harlequin romance. The illustrations have a certain charm to them, especially those of the heroine who comes across as very innocent and joyful.
The hero is mostly depicted with his mouth slanted downwards, which fits his rather morose and aloof personality, but makes it hard to understand why the heroine would fall for him.

Daniella marries Leo, sight unseen, through a matchmaking agency. Cinderella meets a billionaire investor, promising, but it goes downhill from there.

I dislike the emphasis on looks in this story: Leo's seems drawn to Daniella almost exclusively because of her appearance and while at the agency, Daniella is told she needs a make-over to be reborn into an attractive woman...

Some things also just don't add up. Leo grew up poor and still lives in fear of becoming poor again. He's gotten quite irrational about it. However, that doesn't stop him from giving Daniella, still a stranger at that point, a credit card with no limit on it.

Their love seems quite shallow in nature. I can't understand what she sees in him, on a personal level. Apart from the material things he offers, he just treats her quite shabbily, and comes across as very cold. And not in the sexy "I'm hiding my loving heart beneath an aloof exterior"- way.

Matched To A Billionaire is a sweet romance about two people thinking they want something out of life only to find out there's so much more to be had when you dare to take a chance.
This is not my first foray into a Harlequin romance manga comic and it won't be my last. I love it mostly for the artwork and seeing the characters being depicted from the artist's imagination. There's something very charming about a romance in a manga comic. And the drawings of scenes of Leo and Dani being intimate? Sexy as all heck.
One thing I do need to mention though is that you need to know how to read a manga comic. It took me a little while to figure it out but basically, you need to read from right to left in the dialogue bubbles. Going from left to right, which was what I was inclined to do, makes no sense. That said, I still found it a bit confusing because the sequence of the narrative boxes didn't follow a logical top to bottom order since the artist took some liberties with the format of scene on the page and it jumped around a little bit. There were times when I was a little confused about which box to read first.
Aside from that, the story was a delight, if quite abridged. I guess that can't be helped considering the manga comic format does not allow the detail of the full content of the book itself and both the artist and author need to be selective about what to include in order to tell the full story. Even with the much abbreviated version of the story, I still felt I got the gist of everything that was going on.
Leo and Dani both want stability in their lives. Leo needs a wife to run his life and make it smooth. Dani needs enough funds to take care of her ailing mother. Neither of them bargained for what they got in each other.
Leo is a bit of an enigma at the start and also somewhat predictable. He's a successful venture capitalist but he's driven by a past that has left a mark on him. He's afraid to stop, afraid to enjoy life, and afraid to love again. He has a tendency to be consumed by his passions and what he does, and for him, right now, it's his work. He doesn't think there's room in his life for anything else. Enter Dani, and his life is turned upside down. She takes her duties as his wife very seriously and cares for him beyond his expectations. Small, caring touches in his life that eases him and surprises him. It was sad to see Leo's confusion and fear over his feelings for Dani. I'm glad he finally gave in to his desires and passion, and finally admitted his feelings and the impact Dani had on him.
I liked Dani. She was sweet, caring and good intentioned. She truly wanted to make the best of her marriage of convenience and be the best wife she could be to Leo. Even while being distressed by Leo's coldness and distance, she never once chastised him. She accepted this life was what she signed up for in exchange for funds and care for her mother. And despite Leo's behaviour, she continued to not only be a dutiful wife, but was genuinely invested in Leo and their life together. I admired her perseverance and hanging in there for as long as she could. She deserved every bit of love and happiness she found in the end.
This was a fun way to spend twenty minutes of reading time. It's a quick read and perfect for when I'm in a time crunch. There will be more romance manga in my future.

Matched to a Billionaire is about what we would expect from the genre: marriage for convenience sake that turns into something more with time. I liked that we had two gentle characters and for once, a guy who isn't an alpha male. As usual, events of the past make the male lead narrowly focused and short sighted - and it takes the love of a woman to 'fix' him.

Story: Dani's mother's illness has eaten through all their expenses. As a last resort, she signs up for a matching service that is known for its exclusive clientele. The hostess, Elise, matches her with a man driven to succeed and wholly fearful of failing. Dani isn't sure how to deal with her workaholic husband at first - he is kind but distant. But they soon come to learn that each provides them an escape from the social prisons in which they found themselves.

I did enjoy this particular title more than many I've read recently in this genre. No alpha male, just a gentle man trying hard to escape dirt poor poverty of his youth. Dani seems to be a sensible girl willing to make the most of her situation but admittedly taking the easy way out by marrying a wealthy man.

The illustration style matched the story well. Neither character was too good looking or too boring - just a nice mix. The scenery didn't get in the way of the story and the characters felt and looked unique and distinct. Reviewed from an advance reader copy provided by the publisher.

It was the perfect romantic story. I enjoyed that the female protagonist was a strong lead. Daniella decides to agree to a marriage agency, that is a cross between eharmony and arranged marriage, to provide her ailing mother with medical support. She ends up being paired with a man that's a workaholic but kind and considerate. Daniella is resourceful and strong, but also sweet and gentle when it comes to love. They end up finding out their marriage of convenience isn't enough for their desires for love.

Great manga artwork relling a rather flowery story about a workaholic man who finds love when he is matched to a woman who is seeking financial security.

Too far fetched for me but nicely romantic.

Copy provided via Netgalley in exchange for an unbiased review.

The story of this manga was not to my liking I have to admit, and he was absolutely not believable as a character, so this was not the right reading for me.

La storia su cui si basa questo manga non mi é piaciuta per niente e lui non era per niente credibile come personaggio, quindi diciamo che questo volume non fa per me.

THANKS NETGALLEY FOR THE PREVIEW!

So... this book/graphic novel was as I expected it to be - nothing too complicated and romance that will make me cherish the couple and wish them luck.
Daniella comes from the poor family and needs money - desperately. She comes to a dating agency and is matched with the guy. Who is he? What will happen? Will they manage to create something as they meet at the altar for the first time...

I really enjoyed the art and the story for this manga. Now I might need to go and read the actual story and compare the two.

A billionaire and a woman in dire straits are matched by a matchmaking agency and only meet at the altar after a conversation on the phone for what starts as a marriage of convenience. But life has other plans for them and love finds its way into their hearts... kind of slow burn, but effectively rendered romance.
