Christina Dodd definitely delivered with this sequel. Kellen and Rae had a very suspenseful "adventure" together! It really made me feel the difficulties and rewards of bonding with a child that you don't know. I can't wait for the next in the series!

Kellen Adams (Cecilia Adams Lykke) is derailed trying to sneak into the wine cellar, when she notices Roderick Blake in need of a rescue from the roof three stories above. The rescue earned her an injury and while recuperating Max informs her of a job that Nils Brooks suggested for her delivering a rare artifact to someone called The Restorer.

Kellen encounters troubles, one being the stowaway of her seven year old daughter, Rae. Rae overhearing her father, Max, say that they need to bond and decided that was her opportunity to go on an adventure with her mommy. Kellen finds herself without her cell phone, hunted by groups of bad people, a rare artifact to deliver, and a daughter she needs to protect.

Kellen can take care of herself, and she's going to need to teach Rae a few tricks along the way, while learning that her mother instincts are there. After all, they are ThunderFlash and LightningBug!

This is my favorite series! I loved Rae and Zone's character, both very stubborn and determined. I'd love to see Zone show up more, even if he is a hermit. I laughed with the visual when Kellen trying to ditch the Di Luca family for a respite, and hides behind shrubbery, only to get invaded over and over again by those needing her immediate attention. The ending left me excited for the next book in the series!

I would like to thank NetGalley and Harlequin-Romance for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Love the Cape Charade series by Christina Dodd! Quick moving suspense without being overly romantic, interesting characters & settings. The addition of Rae, Kellen's daughter was a highlight of this read! Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy..

Thanks to #NetGalley for this ARC of #WhatDoesntKillHer
There is not enough to say about this book. Dodd’s writing is unique, creative and everything it should be for this genre. So many authors in this category attempt to subconsciously hand over clues to the reader, and with that they sacrifice the mystery. But not Dodd. Her style of writing leaves the reader to contemplate and it's a brilliant breath of fresh air. The characters are deeply developed and investing in them is not difficult to do. I only found out this was the second book in the series after I was finished reading, so it is safe to say it can be read as a stand-alone.

Kellen Adams has been through more than any woman has. . As she starts a new life, she is faced with new challenges, Suffering from amnesia, though, is the least of her worries. As Kellen attempts to put the pieces of her past together and move forward, she is put into a dangerous situation, risking those she cares about most.

Dodd provides a narrative of a woman who has fought through tremendous odds. The backbone of this book is murder, mystery, suspense and Dodd does not disappoint. She is able to skillfully deliver a multifaceted plot with dynamic characters. Highly recommended read. 5 stars.

I am really enjoying this new series by Christina Dodd featuring Kendahl Adams (or should I say CeeCee). It has just the right amount of suspense and time running from the bad guys on a mission. There is a good balance of characters and dialogue versus action. This series is also connected to some of her previous books ( I believe the Bella Terra series which I loved). I was a little disappointed she moved the setting to the winery instead of the resort but I understand why. I just enjoyed the secondary characters in the last book so well. We do get to see them but not as much. I don't want to say more as I have just a bit to go before I finish but I wanted to make sure if you have a chance-pick this one up. Fans of Jayne Anne Krentz and Linda Howard will love it.

While I wasn't a huge fan of the first book in the series, the second is much more interested. and while some details from the first help in understanding this book, you can jump right into this one and pick up on most of the nuances.

What Doesn't Kill Her is a little convoluted, but a good story and I am intrigued by what will happen next. The middle of the book almost feels like it could be the end and one plot line kind of completes so getting into the second half take a little bit of work. Overall an enjoyable story.

This is the second book in this trilogy. I really loved the interaction between mother and daughter and the daughter was my favorite character in the book. I hate that the mystery and the medical part was not tied up in this book but I guess that is what the 3rd book is for.
