Book Review- The Importance of Being Wild by J.J. Sorel

This book had so much potential. Bonnie had lived through a traumatic experience with her ex-husband and the death of her father. The author has so much emotion to use that wasn’t. Bonnie was such a flat character. I was so disappointed. She was so under written. She was too detached from everything even when in her own head. I didn’t believe it.
I had a hard time relating to the characters. The author made them too unrealistic. Her sister was a call girl, considering her childhood didn’t surprise me but come on. It was a psychological time bomb. They acted a bizarre type of normal.
Curtis’ family is totally dysfunctional. No one deals with anything in this story. It truly annoyed me. I was disappointed that the author projected this view that the characters were “fine” when they truly weren’t.
I wish there had been the confrontation of pasts and feelings. Show the reader how messy their lives really were and work to change it. It was a detachment moving through the motions. It was hard to believe the paring of the couples not enough displayed emotion. This story had so much potential I felt the author didn’t do enough with it. I give it a 2.5 out of 5.

It took me two tries to read this book. I took a break for about a month and then came back to it. Sadly, I just could not get into this book. I honestly feel I did try.
Bonnie inherited her bar about a year ago when her father died and left it to her. She meets Curtis when he randomly comes to her bar for a drink. She falls hard for him. But secrets are exposed and there relationship is shaky.
A sweet romance - just not for me.

Bonnie has struggled to feel alive for a little over two years. When Curtis walks into her bar, their mutual attraction gives her a different sort of energy, and she suddenly begins to live again. But as their connection grows, will it be deep enough to quell the fear and insecurity plaguing Bonnie all her life, or will Curtis' past prove to be too much for her to handle?

I found myself glued to my phone screen as I devoured Curtis & Bonnie's story. I enjoyed the author's nod towards literature and the creative arts. I found it truly enjoyable, but am really looking forward to reading Bella's story.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book, which I received via NetGalley.

Bella and Bonnie are twins that are shaped by their past, Bella beautiful and confident but still emotionally broken, Bonnie shy and insecure who struggles to believe that a man as handsome as Curtis could really like her. I found it took me a while to get into the style of writing but I enjoyed the story as it unfolded.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Importance of Being Wild by J.J. Sorel
Bonnie and Bella were left the 'Wild Thing' bar from their father. Both working to start a new chapter in their life. Bonnie is getting over a very bad marriage of abuse and false hope. Not believing that love really is out there nor feeling as if she deserves it works to keep her feelings down. But when she looks at Curtis it hard to stop her emotions. Curtis starts to build her feelings and self respect back until something happens that causes her to doubt everything.
Enjoyed reading their story!

This is Bonnie and Curtis book, I really enjoyed reading this book! Bonnie is a twin (can t wait for her sister book!) Curtis is a musician, he has some dark secrets that come out a little too late and Bonnie has a seriously messed up background and her twin is one messed up person ! This book had a little bit of everything! Suspense, drama, really hot steamy scenes! Definitely don't miss out on this book! Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for sharing this book with me!

I did not really enjoy this book. It was hard to get into. I've read other books by this author so I was sad that this was such a miss for me. Unfortunately, this is not a book I'd recommend.

You know how sometimes you are watching an accident waiting to happen and you can't turn away, that is how I felt about this book.. When I started reading I asked myself "what in the heck am I reading?" Did I finish it, unfortunately and asked myself "Why?" when I could have read something so much better. These people were seriously screwed up, especially Bella. That girl needed help. This was the first time i ever read from the author and it will be my last.
