I recommend this book for parents or teachers of young children up to about the age of 12. The colorful pictures and clearly written directions make the projects easy for parents or teachers to guide the youngest children and for the older children to do it all on their own. The projects can easily be modified for kids who like to do their own thing. The cat was super cute, but they could easily make it be a rabbit or even a robot. The paper holder, which has a fun colored pencil design could be re-designed as a cityscape or forest.

These cute clay creations will most likely need supervision, depending on the age of the child, but the crafts are so adorable that I don't think it will be that hard to interest most adults. The instructions are numbered, have pictures to accompany each step, and each step usually has three sentences or less (so they aren't complicated).

The materials needed are at the beginning of each project. There will be the initial expense of purchasing several different-colored air-dry clays (clay that doesn't need to be fired in a kiln), or if you don't want to purchase colored clays, you will need to use paint. The projects are rated on the last page according to difficulty.

The book is very short, 32 pages, but the projects are extremely cute and instructions only 5 steps. I've commented on the projects I like most:

Croissant
Pear Box
Cobra
Fish Tray
Jewels
Martian
Igloo and Eskimo
String Doll (very cute!)
House Pendant
Paper Holder
Flower Vase
Paperweight (very cute!)
Cat (cute!)
Cow (very cute!)

My Thoughts:
What Concerned Me: Nothing.

What I Liked Most: Though the projects are meant for children, as an adult I had no trouble finding interest in them.

A little book for children, with instructions on making simple items with air dry clay. The items are quite cute and very simple for the children to follow the directions and have a load of fun.

I love books that inspire creativity in my Granddaughter. In the days of everything electronic it is great to see a book that does just that. This is a beautifully illustrated book on how to create things with clay step by step. I really like the Cat, Flower Vase and Fish Tray and plan on making these with my Granddaughter. There is something for everyone in the book young and old. I recommend it for children 4+. Younger ones may need parents help but it will definately spark their creative side and imagination.
I received this book in exchange for my honest opinion

Clay 5-Step Handicrafts for Kids by Anna Llimós is a book I requested from NetGalley and the review is voluntary. This has 14 different projects, each step-by-step, in clay that range in very easy to more difficult. All would be good for kids from a broad range of ages. The projects are a croissant, a martian, cat, pear box, paper holder, igloo and Eskimo, cobra, flower vase, cow, fish tray, string doll, jewels, house pendant, and paperweight. All are very cute and colorful with pictures and instructions along each step. It looks like a great way to spend time with kids and build confidence and quality time. Love art and crafts! Great book!!!

My golly what an absolute delight of a book is “Clay: 5-Step Handicrafts for Kids” by Anna Llimós! You’ll learn to make the cutest clay objects in the world — no baking required — using only the most commonly available materials and simplest techniques. Teaches children in just five easy steps how to create whimsical air-dry clay models ... including a friendly Martian, a funny cow, a jewel-like necklace, a pear jar, and other unusual objects. For children five years and older, and adults like me who want to indulge their kid side! 😀 5/5

This is a very short book with ideas for kids to make out of clay. Some of the suggestions are typical animals but some are inventive like an igloo and an Eskimo. The designs and very cute and appeal to kids. Great pictures and very easy to follow instructions.

My only suggestion would be to have a page listing the recommended brands of clay and where to purchase them.
