I love this book. Meredith Wild never fails to deliver on giving you suspense along with romance. I can’t wait to read the rest of this series!

Isabel Foster is living abroad and teaching English. Tristan is a murder for higher, without a past that he can remember. As he's about to kill Isabel she calls out his name. How does she know his name? Is she the key to his lost memories? Can he follow through with this job? This book was a fast paced adventure. I can't wait to read the next one.

Thank you to NetGalley and Waterhouse Press for letting me read this book in exchange for my honest review.
While I liked this book, it was very action packed and kept my attention, I am only giving it 3 stars. I knew this was a short story but I did not expect the cliffhanger ending. I will now have to find the other installments so that I can find out what happens. I would have like this one better if all the parts were together in one book.

I cannot pin point exactly why this wasn't my cup of tea, but it maybe because it had storyline I've read somewhere else that was also done better. No satisfying end. I just could like this no matter how much I wanted to after hearing so much about it.

I'm not entirely sure why I waited so long to read The Red Ledger Series by Meredith Wild, maybe it was the apprehension of crossing over into the suspense genre, which I almost never do.  I'm a romantic, so I mostly stay within the confines of the Romance genre.

Now I'm disappointed that I waited, I should have known her works always leave me breathless and longing for more. Since the Hacker series I have been a trusting reader that Ms. Wild will deliver on an exciting plot, endearing characters and a writing style that will have you turning the pages until you find the last one which leaves you pining for the next book.

This book was nothing short of Ms. Wild's previous works, her imagination knows no bounds and her writing style gives life to her characters like no one else.

Tristan Red is "murder for hire", his past is darkness, his memories have been wiped after a military mission gone wrong.  His new life, focus on hit after hit, blend in and go unnoticed.  That is until Isabel Foster, daughter of a Pentagon official and unsuspecting victim calls out his name making him fail his mission.

He doesn't remember how they are connected but he's desperate to find out putting both their lives in danger making them both a target.  Isabel knows she is the key to his memories, but she's in love with a man who no longer exists.  Tristan is oddly likeable despite his demeanor and while Isabel may be naive and broken her character shows great strength.

The story ends on a cliff hanger, but lucky for me Part 2 has already been released and I can't wait to dive in!

I received a galley copy of this book from Netgalley.com and Waterhouse Press. Thanks to both for the opportunity to review.

There is a lot of hype online around this book. There are ads everywhere for it. Unfortunately, it doesn't live up to the hype.

The storyline is so far-fetched and implausible; it goes beyond suspension of disbelief right into ridiculous.

Action packed and full of intrigue

Descriptive and full of action. Had my attention from the beginning with what was taking place, what is in the background and the role of Jay and her dad. This is a quick read and relatively short as it is just part one in a multi-part story. Lots of questions with intriguing backstories, but no real answers on what happened to get the memory problems, who is calling the shots, who his friend is, etc. Excited to read the next part.

Thank you NetGalley, Waterhouse Press and Meredith Wild for the chance to read this book and share my opinion!

This is the first book in the Red Ledger series. Isabel is enjoying life in Rio de Janeiro when she sees her old boyfriend, Tristan. He has lost his memory and cannot remember her but she holds his past. He kidnaps Isabel.
This book was not my taste. There was too much romance throughout the book. It would have been good otherwise.

Overall I really enjoyed this part of the story but I’m giving it low marks because I hate when authors break up what should be 1 book into short installments. The book gives no resolution to any of the situations that the characters are in so it was either a waste of time to read or I’m going to have to purchase several other “books” to actually finish the story.

Isabel Foster has gene to Brazil to try to forget her anguish at losing her love, she still can’t get over him so is shocked when he turns up and drags her into a scary, dangerous world. He has lost his memory but being with Isabel starts the process of recall. Fast paced and action packed. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I really didn’t find this book at all believable. (NOTE: maybe spoilers but nothing you don’t find out in the first chapter). I also didn’t realize I accidentally picked up a romance novel so maybe that’s why I hated it. Because like most romance novels the plot and storyline are completely unbelievable, overly dramatic and entirely predictable. Really? Out of everyone in the entire company Tristan is the one sent after Isabel? And a silly high school relationship that they had is the entire cataclysmic reason why they have an undying bond? Oh yawn. Please. Let’s bring on the next book. I wasted entirely too much time on this drivel .

Thanks to netgalley/author for an ARC on this book.

Picked this book based on its excellent reviews and not much of other information. Short book which can be devoured in a few hours.

I liked the fast pace. However not enough history to show why isabel would fall all over for Red or follow him after so many years. I expected a twist which i did not see ....may be that is the point to rope readers , in that case, it worked! i look forward to the sequel.

English teacher in Rio is trying to enjoy Carnaval despite an overeager friend with benefits. Instead her life is forever changed by an old boyfriend, who can’t remember her and has another reason for seeking her out.
It’s a short book, which is surprising when I consider how slow it moves, how often it rehashes the same ground. He needs something from her, but it takes him far too long in his alpha haze to ask her for it. As expected, there are twists and turns in the plot so no one knows who to trust.
Always happy when my alma mater UCLA is mentioned.
Warning: this ends in a huge cliffhanger! It struck me that this was a longer book reduced to smaller portions.
2.5 pushed up to 3/5

A great introduction to this series. I love Meredith other books so I decided to give this series a chance. Well written. Now I just need to read the rest.

I went into this novella knowing very little about the plot. I really enjoyed the escapism I experienced from this story. Red is an assassin, with little to no memory of his past, and little to no concern about it. Isabel is an English teacher in Rio, who lives and breathes her past. She cannot shake the memory of the love of her life, and she fled to Rio to try to escape those feelings. Still, she lives and breathes the memories of her ex.

Isabel sees Red (real name of Tristan) in the streets of Rio during Carnaval, and she instinctively shouts his name. She chases her, not knowing that he's also chasing her for malicious reasons. She remembers the old Tristan fondly, whereas he has no idea who she is.

I liked the romance in this book, the undeniable chemistry between the characters. I loved Red's relationship with his boss, encrypting messaging only. He's a haunted soul, and that definitely came through in this novella.

What I didn't like was how the author forced the reader into the Red/Isabel connection without so much as a prologue. I would have liked to been introduced to this story line a little more thoroughly. Then again, Red, with his memory loss, wasn't afforded that courtesy, so maybe the author is paralleling the reader's experience with Red's.

I plan to read the other books in this series.

This was a hard book to not only rate but also review. I don't think I am going to read the other installments, which if I did, it would likely change the course of my review. This was a fast-paced read but I just really didn't love it. Sure, it was fun and sure there were some intense moments, but overall I didn't find myself caring about the characters or their stories. I didn't feel an intense need to go and read the other installments, which was a red flag for me. Normally, when I read the first book in an installment, I can't wait to finish so I can get onto the next one. In this case, I really don't care if I read them or not. But on the same token, I did enjoy the book as I read it, it just wasn't memorable. TBD on if I find myself reading the other installments.

This is the first Meredith Wild book I have ever read, and I really enjoyed it! It pulled me in from the very first page, and I read the whole thing voraciously. A very short, novella-type book - you could read the whole thing in one (very enjoyable) sitting with no problem. Not too much over-the-top romance, but enough to keep you wondering what's going to happen between the characters. I am really looking forward to reading the rest of the series!

This book makes me yearn for more, but alas, it is like a serial. I have to read the rest of the series to get any satisfaction. Tristan breaks my heart. He is tough and a badass, but he is just a shell of a man. I hope he stays alive long enough to let Isabel into his heart. I can’t wait for the rest of the story.
