I tried to read it many times and focus on the scenes and characters, but the style and repepetitive words made it impossible to afvance. As far as I could see, the world may have potential, but ot seems more like an uncorrected draft than a published novel to be honest.

At the beginning, it was kind of confusing. Remember, this is for YA. As I moved along, I knew it would get better. I was in for a ride. I was NOT disappointed.

This is about a young teen who's discovering about herself and who her parents really are after an incident that happened. This all came about when one man who wants absolute power wanting to crush her father and destroy the family at all cost in order to cover up his past. So as her father is being cast to the Hall of Souls. Meridian begins her journey with her friends to save her father, her family, and everyone around her.

There is a love triangle involved in there but I won't get into it.

I cannot wait to see what the next book brings! I still want to continue on with Meridian's journey!

I'm going to give this a low 4 stars because of the way it started out and I almost put it down. I'm glad I pushed on because it became interesting.

Also, I want to point out that the cover is gorgeous! Perfect for this novel!

I received this ARC from BooksGoSocial through Net Galley. Thank you!

This book was not what I expected. It just felt weird somehow, there are too many charcters in it so it was hard to follow and the the writing style felt off. I just couln’d get used to it. Usually I very much like young adult books but this is not for me.
The plot seemed interesting enough and has fairies in it but I couldn’t finish the book.

M. D. Fryson, has taken the common Fairy trope, and intertwined it with Spirit Guides, Mystical Realms, and Time Discrepancies, to create a Teen-Fantasy story that smashes all boundaries. It is a busy novel, which could have benefited from some more back story (perhaps this is to come in the next novel?), to add more depth, and relatability to the entire premise. Yet, there were some definitive aspects of this novel which I thoroughly enjoyed, it’s most enjoyable moment, was the portrayal of inter-personal relationships within the novel, the young-characters bonding, and the romantic aspects throughout.

I received an ARC of this from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

So I should probably apologize upfront because it kills me to give harsh reviews of books. I don't like to do it but this novel was an epic let down for me.

The good news: It was such a great idea for a novel

The bad news: The execution was terrible.

I was unbelievably frustrated reading this but I was also determined to finish it. And finish it I did. Do I want to read anything else from this series? Initially, I thought I did, but now it's a hard pass for me.

The author's writing style drove me mental. What really irritated me was the way she wrote her dialogue between characters. It was clumsy, stilted, robotic and it just didn't sound natural at all. There was little use of contractions and it sounded way too formal. It made the relationships between characters seem unrealistic and cheesy. Which brings me to my next point. There were way too many characters and I didn't see the point of at least a quarter of them. They were very one dimensional and I was just shaking my head at how easily they fell in love with each other..

There was also no clear separation between drastically different events. In one sentence I was reading about Meridian and crew and then without a break in paragraph, but in the same line as the previous sentence, all of a sudden we were in Etheria with Warrick, who was babbling on about something or other. It was really confusing and jumpy.

There were so many holes in the plot. My main question is whatever happened to Warrick's trial? I must have missed it somewhere...or did it even happen? There were so many unanswered questions and things that just don't make any sense. Like the ending....

Anyways, I digress. I'm sorry, I'm just not a fan and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

What a fun and intriguing book! This book has well written characters and wonderful world building.
There are so msbmnt great paranormal characters
... Spirit Guides, Fairy folk, Witches, Demons and so many more! This book has a lot to offer a Paranormalworld lover.
I enjoyed the characters, but the humor really made this book for me! As a huge sarcastic smarta$$ ... I enjoyed the quirkiness of the characters.
(I received this as an advanced reader copy)

The premise illuded to an intriguing story, however I found this book frustrating. The writing style was offputting akin to what I would expect for a young audience, though the plot was an adult concept. Unfortunately this spoiled what could have been an exceptional tale.

Love this book! Truly a breath of fresh air in the paranormal realm. The originality of this story amazed me. It was not like anything I have read before, and that was one of my favorite parts. That and the characters. These were not your typical paranormal/ fantasy characters. They were more like people you would meet in life. These two things combined for a really great story. The ending was great! I cannot wait to read the second book of the series and see how things continue.
