Wow! Juliette REALLY loves Nate and she is willing to do anything for them to be together. I’m in awe of her devious, calculating mind and the lengths she was willing to go to. I couldn’t wait to read the next chapter to see what she would do next. It was definitely suspenseful. What a great read!

What a page turner! This is a fast paced, cleverly plotted mystery by an author to watch! Recommended to fans of mystery!

Thank you to Graydon House and Netgalley for an advanced copy of this thriller. Juliette, Elizabeth, Lily – the woman with many names – is hung up on Nate who broke up with her months before. She gets a job at the airline where he works, she sneaks into his flat when he’s away and she plots and plans on how she’ll get him back. I enjoyed the insider’s view of how flight attendants see their passengers. Turns out that’s accurate because the author worked as a flight attendant.

However, I found the incessant plotting tedious. Juliette never quite has a full plan of action or any follow through. And wowzer, I really felt cheated by the ending. I totally didn’t care for Juliette. I looked hard but couldn’t find any redeeming qualities.

I would recommend this book as a good insider’s view into flight attendants and passengers on flights, but as a thriller, not so much.

Uhhhhhhhhhh . . . . .

Once again I am the dissenter in the ranks amongst my friends and their high ratings. However, at 3.68 this book doesn’t have a high rating from the masses in general so maybe I didn’t read it completely wrong??? I also chose to pick it up during a time when my attitude was pretty much in the toilet, so maybe that can shoulder part of the blame. Thanks work for being so extra last week, you turd!

I really wanted/expected this to turn my frown upside down. I mean, you know your homegirl likes the stalkers. And all the comparisons to a certain someone being dropped had me expecting You 3.0 - only with 100% more vagina.

The Perfect Girlfriend had potential. Hell, it started out with our main gal breaking into her ex-boyfriend’s apartment while he was out of town. Her lack of self-awareness even made me chuckle at times . . . .

“I have seven missed calls from Nate and one from James. It feels like harassment.”

Buuuuuuuuuuuuuut, it was really slow going for me – the ridiculous(™Ron2.0) was off the charts – which would be A-okay if things didn’t go from farfetched over-the-top storylines to ones that kinda made me sad.

Also? I would have MOTHER.EFFING.LUUUUUUUUUUURVED it if the whole Nate was simply a red herring for a fun twist I didn’t see coming. Buuuuuuuuuut, it didn’t happen and what did happen just left me feeling meh.

I had such high hopes for this one. It was predictable and though there were some great moments, it wasn't at all what I imagined.

Juliette is in love with Nate. Does it matter that they had broken up 6 months earlier and Nate wants nothing to do with her? No. Because Juliette has a plan to win over Nate. And she will do anything to stick to the plan and get Nate. Anything.

When I started reading The Perfect Girlfriend, I wasn’t expecting the main character to be crazy. I mean it, she was cray-cray. I loved it!! This is the first book I have read that is told from the protagonist’s side. Again, loved it!! Juliette was the perfect antihero.

I will admit, I did feel bad for her. Juliette didn’t have the best life growing up. She was responsible for her 4-year-old brother at 10 years old. When he fell into the pond and drowned, she was blamed. She became an outcast at school, with kids teasing her or ignoring her. Boarding school was no better. She was bullied by Bella and her friends. Then, she was used by a mystery boy at the one party she went too. All those incidents helped shape her into a stalker. I thought to myself, at different points in the book, what if she got help when she was younger. What if she didn’t go to boarding school. Would she have turned out differently?

Nate bothered me. I couldn’t see what Juliette saw in him. He had zero personality. He was dull. He was “meh“. I didn’t see the appeal. He didn’t even treat her nice when they were dating. At the risk of repeating myself, what on earth did she see in him? Of course, it was revealed at the end of the book exactly what the appeal was.

Same goes with Bella. I didn’t understand why Juliette was stalking both Nate and Bella. Then it was mentioned that they were brother and sister. I then had a “Gotcha moment“. I still didn’t get the whole obsession with Bella until the end of the book. Then I was like “OOOOOO, makes sense now.“

I loved watching Juliette’s stalking escalate. She started small, breaking into Nate’s apartment/logging into his Facebook/getting a job where he worked. She went bigger, putting a spyware app on his phone and computer/showing up at events where Bella would be/bringing friends over to Nate’s apartment. When she went huge, she went huge. I’m not going to say what but I was amazed that she was able to pull off what she did.

Which brings me to the end of the book. I was not thrilled with it. The book was excellent up to the last few chapters. Then it seemed like everything was being rushed. I wasn’t expecting it to end the way it did. Saying that I was underwhelmed was an understatement. It was the ending that lowered my review from 4 stars to 3 stars.

Is this even real life? Was this an actual book? Not saying that I didn't enjoy it, it was just so ridiculous. Lily/Juliette is such a fucking weirdo. She is just..wow. I know that sentence is super descriptive, but I don't even know what to say about her. I have a "wow" for this. You definitely need to suspend your disbelief throughout this novel, but I got through it nonetheless.

I was unable to get past the first chapter because of the child's death - just not something I want to read at the moment. Library will purchase however because of recent publication successes with theme of obsessive love.

Crazy girlfriend, huge obsession, this book had me hooked from the beginning. For me this book took me a bit to get into at first, I would say it was a slow start.  But once this book got going, wow, did it go.  I really enjoyed this scary psychological thriller about obsession.  It was fun to step into something different.  *This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.*

"A fresh mantra springs to mind.

If you love someone, set them free.
If they come back, they’re yours. If they don’t, make them."

Juliette is in love with Nate and will follow him anywhere. She now a flight attendant for the same airline that where he works as a pilot. This way she can always keep an eye on him.

It's fate, they are made for one another. The fact that Nate broke up with her six months ago is just a commercial in their fabulous life together. She's going to win him back because she is the perfect girlfriend.

Hamilton's unreliable narrator is complicated, neurotic, and impulsive. Elizabeth (Lily to Nate) is now going by Juliet, her middle name. She is reinventing herself to win Nate back. The reader engages in a tug-of-war where Juliet is concerned. On one hand, we feel sorry for her given her tragic past, but on the other hand, she is so extreme and delusional.

Like most psychological thrillers, the strength of the novel lies within the writing. Hamilton pens some complex and interesting characters, yet none are particularly likeable. In fact, Nate is especially dull—perhaps this was done on purpose to juxtapose his character against the manic and impulsive Juliet? There are times where you do have to suspend your disbelief, but all-in-all a fun ride. Buckle up, with Juliet as your flight attendant, there's always turbulence.

Thank you to Netgalley for a copy of this book.

The Perfect Girlfriend follows a woman who is actually the total opposite of perfect in her attempts to reclaim an ex. I don’t want to give specifics away because they are what made the book fun. The twist was clever and the story was wound together nicely. I enjoyed the ending although the last 10% or so did feel rushed.

Well-written book about an obsessive girlfriend. The author does a great job of creating “creepy”

The main character is 400 kinds of crazy. The author pounded that home throughout and it felt repetitive at times, making a portion of it feel like a slog. The link between the past and present felt really tenuous. Closer to a 2.75 than a 3.

I've never read a Karen Hamilton book, but The Perfect Girlfriend sounded like something I would really like. I like twisty creepy stories and this one sounded like it would be.

There were a ton of twisty creepy things in the story, but I did find it pretty slow to start and not a whole lot going on at the beginning. I was impatiently waiting for crazy things to happen, but it didn't happen right away. I wasn't completely satisfied with the way that the book ended, to be honest. I wanted more from the ending, but it just wasn't there. Juliette definitely had a few screws loose and she made for a good character. Things happened in her past, which made her the way she was, which was actually a little sad.

Overall, I liked The Perfect Girlfriend. It had it's twists and creepiness to it. I would have liked if more happened, but for the most part it was good and at times hard to put down. Even though I wasn't happy with the ending, there were a lot of good things to make up for it and I was still invested in the story and wanting to know how it played out. It didn't blow me away, but I also didn't hate it; it was still pretty entertaining at times and pretty messed up other times.

Oh my gosh, this book gives new meaning to the word obsession!

Just when you think you’ve seen it all! Or in our case read it all, comes this little gem of a thriller that will leave you speechless!

Her name is Lily but also goes by her middle name Juliette. It just depends on who she interacts with or what situation she finds herself in. She has separate Facebook accounts for each persona. Her primary goal? Get married. And not to just anyone! She is determined to have Nate - whether he wants her or not! Lucky boy, Nate. Whatever it takes, no matter who gets crushed in her path. Make no mistake, she is driven to make him hers!

Lily...Juliette is more than capable of reinventing herself, even taking on a whole new profession and moving to a new city! Any barrier will be breached. There is no stopping this. Love will conquer all! Or should I say over-the-top obsession!

Karen Hamilton writes a tense thriller that explores the lengths someone will go to satisfy their perceived love interest! I was left shaking my head at how far off the deep-end this woman would go! Yikes!

Poor Nate! Does he even stand a chance? Well, of course friends, you’ll have to read this one to find out!

Something fellow reviewer (Felicia) on Goodreads said in their review of this book has stuck with me. It really should be the tagline. "What in the cray-cray did I just read?" After reading the whole story, I still don't know. For a debut novel, Karen Hamilton really took delusional to a whole new level. Elizabeth/Lily/Juliette; she goes by many names and each one is more scary than the other. The story started off slow but kept me just engaged enough to keep going. You just never knew what she was going to do next.

"If you love someone, set them free.
If they come back, they're yours.
If they don't, make them."

This was Juliette's motto, and she really, REALLY stuck by it. She was manipulative and controlling and deceitful, but you still kind of felt sorry for her. Kind of. The only thing that bothers me is the ending....

I will definitely be picking up Karen Hamilton's next book. Not sure how she can top this one though.

Well, this is a short review because this book is so insipid that I don't even want to waste my time coming up with something substantial to explain why I didn't like it. I just don't care but, because I received a free copy of this title from Netgalley, I feel obligated to write something.

This story is so pathetic. Right away I figured that the MC, Juliette, must have had some type of mental disorder because, why else is she stalking her ex MONTHS after they broke up?

And what stalking this is! Not even interesting. I was getting a headache with all the little side things that were going on in here.

This book is more like a lot of useless blah blah blah to fill out pages. Really, this is beyond boring but... books must be written and printed, right?

What did I just read? Juliette, Lily, whatever you call yourself...you are a major mix of crazy and psychopath and it was awesome! This book was binge worthy and an amazing, omg kind of crazy! I could hardly put the book down because I needed to know what she was going to do next! I won’t think about revenge the same because Juliette has the market cornered on that. Fun, amazing and addicting read. And I don’t even really hate her. What does that say about me? Haha.
