Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an ARC of this in exchange for an honest review.

This book was very hard to get into, and it felt as if I had landed in the middle of a story, and not in a good way either. I read through for a bit hoping to see some things clarified or to have the worldbuilding explained in a way that didn't make me feel completely lost, but unfortunately, that did not happen. Ultimately, I had to give up on this one. I might continue it later at some point and will update my review in that case.

Review to come.

This one was better than book one. It had more character building and allowed me to feel what was going on during the book.
El is on a mission - make allies among arete families. That would not be easy for sure, but will she manage with the help of her friends?
I liked that we got a back story of events and that allowed me to suck into the story! And I still love Greek mythology.
I'm really interested in book 3 as it will be the culmination of the series.

I started reading and felt lost. All the characters seemed so together and it looked like a second book in a series. I tried to push through. It was very confusing for me, to be honest.

I came here to leave a review when I read one that mentioned this being book 2!! It didn’t really mention that in its description. Now I’ll look for book 1 and put the puzzle pieces together that we’re missing for me!

I received this ebook copy from the publisher and NetGalley for an honest review.

I Read This Without Knowing It Was The Second Installment. Although There Are A Few Things I Have A Lot Of Questions Of. It Was Very Well Written, And It Kept Me Interested Throughout.

Definitely Going Back To Read The First Book And Then Reread This One.

In this story, El tries to make allies among the powerful arete families, including her own. But she has doubts about her co-conspirators, who don’t divulge many details about the overall plan. Not a good way to build trust.

There’s a lot of antagonists or potential antagonists in this series. So it keeps things interesting. And there are many strong female characters. But the main character, El, bugs me. She gains a lot of power and friends in a short amount of time. It’s...too much. She could be a great character...done day.

I enjoyed this book better than the first. There’s more time spent on building the plot line. But the mechanics of arete powers, blood magic and the politics don’t always make sense to me.

Thanks, NetGalley and Weapenry Co-Op for the ARC.
