“So, why are we here?”
“So you can breathe.”
This book was a surprise, I didn’t expect it to be that good.
This is the story of a woman, Kelsey Fry, who fights every day against a choice she made in her past. Being a mother is never easy, no matter the circumstances, but she was a good one, because she did what was best for her baby: guarantee a life full of possibilities. This doesn’t mean that the choice never haunts her. And it brings us to their first meeting: A TATTOOOOOO. Yes, she wants to keep her memories permanently on her body and she needs Alex Dosek (more like she didn’t know she needed him). He hated her for what he thought she did. In the past he was her number one judge, because of his own darkness. But the woman in front of him now, needs to have someone listening to her. He decides to be that someone.

I loved how things easily developed between them, and I’ve loved the positiveness of the whole group of friends, that have each others’ back. When you grow up alone, you don’t trust anyone, but Kelsey quickly feels Alex and his group, these new protective brothers she now has. Of course it’s never easy and an unlucky day brings the past to her face. Her daughter needs her. And she won’t stop, she will do what’s the best.

The writer was good, the reading was quite fluent. There are emotional parts, funny and romantic ones with the right balance. So it’s a 4/5.

I’ve learned that you don’t have to put yourself first when it comes to those you love, but sometimes being taken care of is enough to have the answer.

“When you know someone’s ugliness as well as you know their beauty, then you’re intimate.”

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book, but was pleasantly surprised by how quickly I became engrossed and before I knew it, it was done. Still Rattled (and Rattled) is a wonderful story of an independent woman reeling from emotional guilt, but not wanting to be saved, and an equally determined man who feels it’s his duty to do just that.

Including Rattled (the first book in the series) in this book is an added bonus, as the reader is up to date with events and doesn’t feel like something is missing. Overall, this was a true to life story that kept me thoroughly intrigued by its twists, turns and compelling heartache till the very end. I look for ward to reading more from Ms Charles.
