I savoured this book, enjoying it completely. Complex characters and a suspenseful story line kept me engaged. leaving me both fulfilled and wanting more at the same time. A classic, well-crafted Mary Burton story you don't want to miss. And if you're new to her writing, you will be hooked and have plenty more to read.

First Thoughts:

I just became aware of this author just a couple of months ago and I am officially addicted to her writing. I always like a good mystery with romance thrown into the thick of it. This has the right amount of action and suspense. Plenty of moments of surprise. If you're into diverging yourself in a world of solving crimes and finding time to find the good in life this is the book for you!

Summary:

Faith is a medical examiner who finds herself immersed in a world of crime that is tightly connected to her life in more ways than one. She soon embarks not only on a journey of trying to solve a crime but unraveling her lineage.

Texas Ranger Mitchell Hayden is a hard-edge man who is hell bent on decoding clues until he solves the crime. He's all about his job and he's not looking for love. But this latest crime has him in the sights of a beautiful woman named Faith.

Soon the two join forces together trying to not only solve the hit and run of Faith's possible twin sister FBI agent Macy Crow but the trail she left behind before her hit and run.

The clock is ticking down and bodies are piling up, will these two decode the clues before the killer comes after them?

Plot:

I loved this story, it had a lot of ups and downs that left the reader reading late into the night. There were plenty of twists and surprises along the way to keep the reader entertained. There were scenes of crime and scenes of redemption. Lots of scrambling and a race against the clock. You can really get a sense of the urgency in each scene. There were parts where it allowed the reader to take a breather and have a little comic relief. If you're into murder mysteries excitement this is down your alley. There were a couple of predictable scenes, like I guessed some of the things from nearly the beginning of the book but the main mystery of all; the person who did it, was a surprise to me. So it didn't deter me from enjoying the book.

Romance:

Ahh, romance. There was some sexual tension between Faith and Hayden. They even had a interesting past and soon the two are fighting to keep things how they were before but love's cupid keeps drawing them closer. Though this wasn't the major part of the book, it was beautifully in-twined and created a great atmosphere for a mystery romance.

Characters:

Faith was an interesting character. It didn't take me long to get connected with her. Though she was a bit naive in some scenes. But she was strong emotionally in others. Hayden was a little cold to me in the beginning. It took me awhile to get connected to him; to even root for him. Which is a little odd because all of her previous books I've read from Ms.Burton I've always immediately or close to immediately connected with them. Macy Crow was a secondary character but she added texture to the story that allowed the main plot to flow. The serial killer was a great mystery and loved reading from his mind. *shiver*.

Transformation of the Character:

Faith in a way transformed but it wasn't as noticeable as others have been in the past. It was subtle and fluid. Hayden's transformation was more noticeable and I enjoyed seeing him grow into the man he was meant to be.

Description:

The information was well researched and though I'm no medical examiner or law enforcement officer it really rang true to me. The description of the autopsies and the way the clues were left really left a realistic feel to the story. The scenes of the crimes were tastefully done, done enough to get the point across but not too grisly. I just really enjoyed how each scene was described from the scenery down to the clues. They were all important factors to the story. The way the characters minds were described were well established too. It allowed the reader to understand what was happening and why it was happening. Just the description of the characters themselves allowed the reader to really picture how they appeared and identify them later on without a single name being uttered.

Style:

This was written in third person and multiple point of views. Being written in third person just allowed the reader to see a wider view of each scene and get to understand the information in a better perspective. And being written in multiple point of views allowed the reader to understand the story better. To get all the pieces of the story and put it together into a giant puzzle. Very well thought out. And Burton's writing is a real treat. Very easy to get lost in her writing and pass the hours. This book will be finished before you even really even grasped everything that was written in the story.

Quote of the Book:

"Two buzzards circled overhead...Like him, buzzards didn't have an elegant reason for being. Like him, they cleaned up mess death left behind."

Last Thoughts:

I really enjoyed this book and will continue to look forward to other books written by Mary Burton. She has a way with mysteries that has really grabbed my attention. Totally recommend this to any reader in for a fast and unbelievable read! Highly recommend to go pre-order this book now!

Mary Burton is one of my favorite romantic suspense authors and Cut and Run was an awesome example of why. It is a great stand alone novel but you’ll see familiar characters from other novels and I really appreciate the continuity when I’m reading. If you’re looking for twists and turns with a great plot line you’ll find it here. Perfect novel for your first Mary Burton read. You’ll definitely come back for more. Thanks to the author and her publisher for letting me read the advanced reader copy of Cut and Run!

Mary Burton proves herself to be an author worth taking note of in her masterful suspense, Cut and Run. Medical examiner Faith McIntyre's world is shaken when she discovers the secrets her parents kept regarding her adoption lead to a twin sister who has just landed in the hospital as the victim of a hit and run. Macy and Faith's connection to another victim lead Texas Ranger Mitchell Hayden deeper into a dark world of kidnapped women and hush-hush adoptions.

The story immediately draws readers into the mystery as a potential lead is found tortured and dead. Mitchell Hayden takes the reins and quickly and brings Faith into the investigation. Even though Faith has possible personal ties to the case she still makes it clear that once she's invested she's seeing it through to the end. I loved both Mitchell and Faith because they're driven and focused on the case, despite personal trauma. I thought it very interesting that they had a physical arrangement that didn't involve any labels and kept it professional around others. It was a positive change of pace from romantic suspense plagued with instant attraction story lines. There wasn't any angsty drama between the two struggling to figure out their relationship, so the plot was absolutely driven by suspense.

Cut and Run is a dark romantic suspense you just can't miss! Mary Burton guides readers through a plot that leads to a satisfying end that has just the right amount of closure and still allows the characters' futures to be left up to conjecture. It's perfect for fans of Rita Herron or Cynthia Eden! If any of her stories are like Cut and Run, I'm definitely looking forward to reading more!

Mitch Hayden is a no nonsense Texas Ranger trying to get over the lose of his wife. Faith is a no straight to the point Medical Examiner. When people start showing on her table with their throats slit and teenage girls go missing these two go on the search for the killer. When one of the family members of one of the dead guys shows up and looks just like Faith who is an only child things start to heat up not just with the case but with Faith and Hayden. I received an ARC copy for an honest review. Nice job Ms. Burton.

When a medical examiner plays detective in a cold case from thirty years ago.
FBI agent Mary Crow follows the clues left behind by her father. Following these clues unknowingly puts her danger.
There’s several intricate pieces to this puzzle. Keeping track of all the new evidence is tricky while also trying to follow the current leads.

Medical Examiner Faith McIntyre discovers she has a twin sister, but that’s only the beginning to the truths she uncovers. While her sister lays unconscious in a hospital bed Faith picks up the clues left behind by Mary.

Several components make up his mystery in regards to solving the cold case of missing girls. All the twists and turns payoff in the end revealing an epic secret.

Mary was very thorough with the details, facts, and process for retrieving evidence. The way the evidence is being found is fascinating, yet it’s missing that edginess that has me gripping the pages with excitement. I wasn’t buzzing with energy. The big reveal was an unexpected surprise, yet not too shocking.

Stacking up the monster pile was creepy.
This was an okay story. It was well written, yet I still filtered through some information. Some information just didn’t feel pertinent to the growth of the story or characters.

I had forgotten how much I do tend to enjoy Mary Burton's book. This book kept you on your toes from beginning to end. We have Faith McIntyre a medical examiner who is no pushover and she is truly dedicated to her job. Her new romantic interest Michael Hayden has just landed a case where there are a lot of questions and both want answers. We have lots of betrayal, lies, and eventually answers.. Grab a copy and enjoy because you will and you will be busy..

Started and finished the same day! Thank you Net Galley and Montlake for letting me receive this arc. Thank you Mary Burton for your awesome story writing! I thought I knew who it was, and I was wrong. I loved strong independent medical examiner Faith. Texas Ranger Michael and Faith....was an interesting play out. This book was a complete page turner, gut wrenching, heart pounding, mystery, suspense, dark and twisted, with a HEA.
The best of both worlds. I highly recommend this book to everyone, if you have not read Mary before grab this book, be aware this is not for the faint of heart.

Author Mary Burton has a super suspenseful story in her latest book, Cut and Run. The heroine of this story, medical examiner Faith McIntyre is one tough cookie. She doesn't hesitate to step in and investigate some strange happenings including trying to solve the puzzle of why a woman who looks exactly like her is in town and found close to death in a dark alley. Our hero, Texas Ranger Mitchell Hayden is with Faith all the way. He is determined to protect her and keep her safe.

Mary Burton always delivers when it comes to well-written, fast paced, thrilling suspense stories. Cut and Run is no exception. I loved the suspenseful storyline and the thrilling end. I highly recommend this book!

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of Cut and Run by Mary Burton that I read and reviewed.
I loved this book. It was excellent from start to finish. I can honestly say I had no idea who was behind the the killings and all the other crimes in the book. I was shocked when who was behind all the twist and turns were revealed at the end.
I also loved the pairing of Faith and Mitchell in the book. They were a very interesting couple and their relationship was a great. I enjoyed how it grew throughout the book.
This was one of Mary Burton better books and I would recommend it to anyone who loves books with romance and suspense because this book was full of both and it kept me on the edge of my seat and I could not put it down.
I can't wait to see is Mary comes out with Macy's story because I would also love to see what happens with her.
I am giving Cut and Run five out of five stars.

I really liked this book. I really liked the second chance romance between Faith and Mitchell. The mastermind and accomplice to the murders was a surprise. To find out, read the book, which drops on 10/9/18. This book is stellar!

This is the first Mary Burton book I have read, but it won't be the last. Not a cozy mystery but a gritty thriller that grabs you, keeping you turning the pages until the end. The characters are interesting with, hopefully, the possibility of more stories about them. I definitely recommend this book and I can't wait to pick up her earlier books. I received an e-book from NetGalley in return for an unbiased review.

As always Mary Burton delivers with a cracking breakneck speed thriller that demands to be devoured in one sitting!

If you are familiar with Mary Burton's work Cut and Run won't disappoint and if you aren't then this book will have you itching to get your hands on her previous books. From start to finish there is not one dull moment and enough revelations and plot twists to have you second guessing leaving traces of doubt as to who is masterminding the sickening crimes.

A brutal murder of a man who has been tortured, a hit and run that leaves a FBI agent in critical condition, a missing pregnant young girl, all seemingly connected somehow to medical examiner Faith McIntyre. And if that wasn't enough for her to deal with it becomes apparent that other historical cases are also connected. But how, why and who will take some seriously dark and twisted turns to make the pieces all fit together.

Faith is a brilliant`protagonist and alongside Texas Ranger Mitchell Hayden their characters and relationship was great, but for me Kat, the troubled teen stole the show. With a chip on her shoulder, hormonal and a touch of a rebellious nature, there is just something about her that is endearing with glimpses of the bright young lady she will become.

The characters are all interesting and have you invested in each of them. I would love there to be a follow-up to this book so we could go back and see how they are all fairing up and what life has in store for them next.

I throughly enjoyed this book and it is definitely one i would recommend, don't be deterred by the romantic suspense category, romance certainly isn't the plots core. It is one for fans of Karen Rose and Karin Slaughter.

Cut and Run is out on 9th October 2019

Mary Burton does it again with another sucks-you-in-from-page-1 page-turning thriller. I just love her writing, and love knowing how quickly captivated I will become in each of her books. Great characters. I really hope to see the twins and Kat again!

Oh yes! Mary at her finest. Although this is an unbiased ARC review I'm all in for Faith's and Macy's story. Two strong main characters and a number of strong side characters hold your interest and allow for an intricately blended plot. I couldn't put it down. I know this isn't a series with Her Last Word and The Last Move but I sure would like a couple more to let us see more of all these characters.

Another Grand Slam by Mary Burton. I love her books and have read them all. This book I devoured in 24 hours because I would not and could not stop reading, When FBI Agent Macy Crow arrives in town after her father is brutally murdered, she is the victim of a serious hit and run accident. She is the spitting image of Dr. Faith McIntyre the medical examiner. Texas Ranger Mitchell Hayden along with Dr. McIntyre piece together clues from the cases of missing teenage girls to uncover a chilling and deadly scheme. I wish this Author could write faster. Thanks to NetGalley, Montlake Romance and the Author for allowing me to read and review this book.
