I have read a few Mary Burton novels now and this one did not disappoint!

I adore the mix of suspense, crime and romance although there was just a pinch of the latter in this book but it was not to its detriment.

Faith McIntyre is the town's medical examiner and she frequently works cases with Texas Ranger Mitchell Hayden. The most recent case is a little too close to home for Faith as it brings her identical twin sister Macy, whom she did not know existed, to town to investigate too. Macy is an FBI agent who is informed of her adopted fathers torture and death and she believes there is more to this than meets the eye so sets about her own investigation with clues left behind by her late father. Macy ends up the victim of a hit and run and so it's left to Faith and Mitchell to piece the final pieces together.

There is more to this novel and a linked sideline involves 'baby farming' and it was brilliant to read how this all pulled together; I genuinely had no idea who the 'baddie' could be until the final chapter and that is the best kind of suspense story when you don't anticipate the ending!

A fast-paced storyline that made me keep turning the pages with plenty of suspense, intrigue and twists around every corner - very highly recommended. I felt like the story was left open enough to go into more detail for other characters in future novels and that would be very welcome from me!

My thanks to Montlake Romance via NetGalley for providing me with this advanced reading copy in exchange for an honest review.

I have read Mary Burton's books for many years. She writes some of the best romantic suspense around and Cut and Run is an excellent example of this. The story revolves around medical examiner Faith McIntyre and the twin she unexpectedly learns about when FBI agent Macy Crow is run down in a hit and run. Texas Ranger Mitchell Hayden is investigating and along the way three 30 year old graves are discovered with the remains of 3 young women. The danger and suspense builds as Faith and Hayden work to determine just what happened 30 years ago and who was responsible. The story is fast moving and rushes to a surprising finish that I didn't see coming.
Faith and Hayden's relationship started as purely a physical need between two people that have known each other for some time, Faith was friends with Hayden's late wife. Mary slowly and quietly builds the chemistry between them into a believable and satisfying romance.
Fans of romantic suspense with an emphasis on suspense will enjoy this book.

I have now read 16 Mary Burton novels!!! I really enjoy her writing. I feel like she writes good crime/suspense novels that have an added touch of romance instead of the other way around.

This new book features the brother of Kate Hayden from her previous book, The Last Move and a new set of characters. I really like Faith and Mitchell together. They worked well as a team to figure out the mystery. There were a lot of twists and turns in the story. We are given pieces of the puzzle throughout the book but I feel like there was still a surprise at the end.

This book introduced many characters that I hope to see again. I'd really like to hear more about Macy, Maggie, and Kat. I feel like the ending left it open to carry on the story.

From the beginning I was hooked, a young pregnant teenager locked in a basement by God who knows who, next scene, Texas Ranger Mitchell Hayden visits the site of a gruesome murder by torture of Jack Crow, an ex-Vietnam army medic, thus propelling both Hayden and Faith into discovering a link between the present and the past. Discovering the sister she didn’t know existed and the status of the pregnant teenager only adds to the intensity of the book and with so many twists and turns it will keep the reader on edge.
Thank you NetGalley and Montlake for the opportunity to review this book.

CUT AND RUN is an above average tale with a few unfortunate tropes and cliches. First is the title, which is overused as a book title to the point of being trite. The long-lost twin sisters who just happen to be an ME and an FBI agent trope is unbelievable and frankly ridiculous. That being said, this is another great RS effort by Mary Burton. As always, she did a great job of putting it all together. The relationship between Faith and Mitchell was well drawn, and the suspense part was as good as you would expect from Burton. This would be an enjoyable series about the two sisters should Burton choose to delve further into their lives.

For medical examiner Faith McIntyre, seeing trauma cases is nothing new. But when one has her face, well things go from strange to down right dangerous. FBI agent is in town for her father’s murder and when she is seriously hurt in a hit and run, Faith, Texas Ranger Mitchell Hayden find out that the past has come calling and it will take Faith and Hayden all that they have to solve the case because there is a killer out there determined to silence Macy, Faith and anyone else that was part of what happened decades ago.

Wowsers, I was just blown away by CUT AND RUN. This is pure entertainment and I loved every minute of it. It’s a fast-paced story that held my interest till the very end. I had no idea who the bad guys were, and the surprise reveal left me with my jaw open to the floor. Mary Burton is one of my go to authors when I need a romantic suspense book to read (among others of course) and CUT AND RUN is by far one of her best works to date. I had issues with Her Last Word (last standalone book) and found this new release is better than I anticipated. It has romance, action and a mystery to keep you guessing. This book just ticked all my love buttons!!

Meet Faith and Macy. Two very different people who find they are long lost twin sisters when Macy comes to Texas to claim her father’s body after he is viscously murdered. Faith is shaken as she finds out that Macy looks like her. As the Texas Rangers close in and Faith tries to figure it all out, the past finds a way to make itself known. The question is, can Faith figure out what happened all those years ago and try to stay a step ahead of a killer determined to silence all those involved long ago? Man I just loved Faith. She is determined and kept me glued to the pages of the book as she raced after clues with the Texas Ranger Mitchell Hayden. The scenes with Faith and Hayden were at times sweet, sexy and I enjoyed the sparks that flew between these two. I would have loved to see more of Macy within the storyline but felt it helped move the story along a little better with her minor part in CUT AND RUN. The author does a great job in keeping the mastermind behind the killings secret until the very end of the book and I can honestly say I had no idea who that person was so when the big reveal was happening, my jaw fell to the ground in shock. The characters are exceptional and diverse. They were very well written, and I liked how Ms. Burton kept the focus on a select few characters with a lot of others keeping the storyline moving along nicely.

CUT AND RUN is by far one of this author’s better books and I am hoping she returns to the Texas Rangers again as I enjoyed seeing them in action in CUT AND RUN. If you enjoy a pulse pounding, action packed mystery that will keep you glued to the pages than you need to check Mary Burton’s CUT AND RUN and settle in for one wild ride.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement

A mystery full of twists and you won't see coming. Faith and Hayden have their hands full following a trail of clues that lead them on a wild hunt for a decades old killer. While some parts of the mystery are easy to figure out, others are surprising and twisted, while the characters are interesting enough to keep the reader engaged and invested in the outcome. Definitely a story worth reading.

From first to last page readers will cling on to hope that Macy will be able to wake up one day and bring justice to those who killed her father.

Faith McIntyre is strong willed but found a person whom she connected with sex but nothing more. Texas Ranger Mitchell Hayden is strong wants to find the truth no matter how much it might hurt the second woman he fell in love with.

The story is mind blowing that people could be so cruel and the desire for money that they would kill anyone in the way.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher Montlake Romance for the advance copy of Mary Burton Cut and Run.

Cut And Run – Mary Burton

I was fortunate to receive this novel from Netgalley.com as an Advance Reader Copy, in exchange for an objective review.

Texas Ranger Mitchell Hayden heads out to visit an old informant who called with some news and finds him dead in a lawn chair on his deck, with injuries clearly inflicted by another, indicating that Jack Crow was likely tortured before he died. As Mitchell assesses the scene, he notes that the home was trashed by someone who was looking for something, but there are no further clues to be found.

Dr. Faith McIntyre, medical examiner for Travis County and occasional lover of Mitchell, performs the autopsy on Crow’s body, discovering that the victim didn’t have long to live, due to pancreatic cancer. She and Mitchell surmise that Jack had wanted to clear his conscience of something.

Macy Crow, FBI agent and daughter of the deceased, arrives into town to assess the circumstances of her fathers death as well. Accessing a small hidden panel in her father’s home, she finds some clues he had left, including a burner phone with three addresses. As she visits each place, she becomes more convinced that there is a problem. One of the addresses leads to the ME’s office – and Macy discovers that she’s a dead ringer for Faith. Then she is run down by a truck and left for dead.

As Macy fights for her life, Mitchell and Faith investigate the secrets that died with Jack, and Faith tries to trace her roots and find her relationship to Macy. But someone else is watching too, and doesn’t want Faith to find the answers…

This book had me from the first page, and I read it cover to cover in a few hours! Great storyline, classic suspense/romance/intrigue and I loved the characters!! Hoping for more of Mitchell & Faith in the future!! Great read!

Be ready for a roller coaster ride with this suspense novel! Mary Burton has a way with her writing that sends you in a whirl then drops the bottom out from under you- it's an exhilarating ride!

I don't even know where to begin with explaining this one except to say don't miss out. There are a cast of characters worth mentioning but the love interests are medical examiner Faith McIntyre and Texas Ranger Mitchell Hayden. These two perform a slow intense dance with one another but at arms length. With the intense drama of this novel the distance shortens between the two until they are face to face with dealing with what they exactly have.

Throw in a unknown twin in FBI Agent Macy Crow, the unearthing of murders of women who disappeared 30 years ago, and too many crazy people to mention and you have enough suspense and drama to keep you reeled in until the end. I loved this book!

4 Stars.
Cut and Run was my third Mary Burton book and it definitely won’t be my last.
The story revolves around Dr. Faith McIntyre, a medical examiner in Texas who discovers the victim from a hit and run looks exactly like her. Eerily exactly like her. The twin sister she didn’t know she had. The victim is FBI agent Macy Crow, back in Texas to discover who murdered her father.
Now Faith, along with her new lover Texas Ranger Mitchell Hayden are following the clues left by Macy and the growing pile of dead bodies turning up, to get answers for the current murders and find out what happened to Faith’s parents.
I really enjoyed ‘Cut and Run’, I had a hard time putting it down. It was a great romantic suspense novel.
