I’m not sure how I feel about this one still. I liked it while I was reading it but I found it very forgettable. I did really like the characters and the story line.

Unfortunately, this felt like it had bits and pieces of a lot of the psychological thrillers that I have read, therefore none of it felt fresh or original for a reader such as myself who reads a lot in this genre.

Perhaps a reader who only reads psychological thrillers on occasion will find this book more satisfying.

This was a good thriller, I really enjoyed it. Although, it gave off some serious Gone Girl vibes and that for me was such a let down when trying to get into it most of the time. All in all a good novel, just a bit predictable and over done.

I love thrillers, but this was different than most if the other's that I have read and enjoyed. This was a fun, twisty psychological thriller full of secrets.

As Long as As We Both Shall Live is a story of broken love, and unreliable characters (did he push her?) and not learning your lessons. A dark, slow burn domestic thriller.

The book almost reads like satire because of how outrageous the plot and characters are. I read a lot of thrillers and I’m having a hard time thinking of a comparable novel. The writing is colorful with smart insights about relationships. Characters aren’t likable but they aren’t meant to be. Very fast read I finished in a weekend.

I almost put this book aside early on.

But I didn’t.

This who shot who, who faked whose death thriller/mystery, the truth is not revealed until the very last word. But is it the truth? Are the many subplots connected, or are they not? I’ll never tell. You will have to find out for yourself. All I’ll say is that the apparently most unlikely pairs in noveldom are portrayed brilliantly in this suspenseful and amusing book, and you really should buy it. Then fasten your seatbelts, ladies and gentlemen, and prepare to use supplemental oxygen, because you will be holding your breath the entire length of this switchback-filled journey.

Wonderful writing. Wonderful story.

I received this book as an ARC from the publisher and NetGalley.

I honestly didn’t have high hopes for this...expecting the same old formulaic story to unfold. I was pleasantly surprised by the twists this author created. It will keep you guessing...and keep you turning the pages to find out.

I can't count how many times I said, "Ohhhhhhh...that's what happened!" while reading this book. At the start, I thought it would be a quite predictable plot. Midway through the novel, I realized I was mistaken. From that point on, there were many surprises. By the end, I was impressed with the author's ability to craft such an intriguing storyline! The only issue I had was with the crudeness of the characters. The novel would have been better without the immature and inappropriate comments that were interspersed throughout the novel.

This book is an entertaining domestic thriller with many twists along the way. It's full of fascinating characters, and every time I thought it would go one way the plot would change directions and surprise me. It was full of shocking twists and turns. The ending caught me off guard too.

I recommend this book! 4 stars.

Thanks to Flatiron Books and NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Really loved those opening pages. Really sets the tone for the rest of the book.

I am sorry for the inconvenience but I don’t have the time to read this anymore and have lost interest in the concept. I believe that it would benefit your book more if I did not skim your book and write a rushed review. Again, I am sorry for the inconvenience.

Matt falls under suspicion when his second wife falls to her death in Colorado. His first wife also died under suspicious circumstances. The police investigate and untangle and intricate web of lies and deception.

This was filled with twists and turns, some that I anticipated and some I didn’t. I enjoyed the writing, originality and the fast pace. I recommend this to all fans of suspense.

Many thanks to Netgalley, Flatiron Books and JoAnn Chaney for my complimentary e-copy ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

This story seems to be ripped straight from the headlines - spouse dies in mysterious circumstances; Is it an accident or murder? It seems relevant in that so many murder trials held today are based on circumstantial evidence. Some readers will probably be upset by how graphic some scenes and the language were, but in my experience, it is fairly accurate. As I was reading I thought I had the plot figured out, but was a little surprised as I went along. Closer to 3.5 stars.

I usually live a good “did they do it” book but this one kind of fell a bit short for me.
While it started out catching my attention and making me want more I finally realizes it was going nowhere fast for me. The premise is great but like most books where two wives come up dead or missing this one just didn’t compare to well. I hate that so much.
Thank you #netgalley for this book.
I give it 3 starts and one is because I did finish it. It just took a while. Not one I highly recommend.

This started out well, then started to get so "muddy" that I put it down for several days...finally went back, but had to reread parts to figure things out. While the main part was interesting with lots of twists and turns, the side story could have been left out.

Flatiron Books and NetGalley provided me with an electronic copy of As Long As We Both Shall Live. I was under no obligation to review this book and my opinion is freely given.

Matt and Marie go on a hiking trip to rekindle their twenty year marriage, but only one of them comes back. With parts of the story not adding up, an investigation ensues. When Detective Marion Spengler ends up with washed up Detective Ralph Loren as her partner, will the pair that has been mostly overlooked and scoffed at by their colleagues solve the case?

There is really nothing redeeming about the two main characters and the story itself strikes a similar tone as books I have read in the past. As Long As We Both Shall Live was entertaining, in a sick sort of way, as the pair play a deadly game. The outcome was not as much of a surprise as I had hoped, which was a disappointment. The best thing about thrillers of this nature is the element of the unexpected, but the twists in this novel were mainly predictable or seemed to serve no purpose besides being a plot point. On the plus side, As Long As We Both Shall Live is a relatively short book, easily finished on a long trip or an extended stay at the beach. On the negative side, it is hard to like a book where the main characters have no redeeming qualities. For these reasons, I would be hesitant to recommend the novel to other readers.

Well, I certainly did not see that coming! I love psychological thrillers so I knew this was right up my alley, and I thought I had it figured out, but of course Chaney is way too clever to allow that. Both of Matt's wives ended up dead and he is the prime suspect. But things just don't add up, and detectives Spengler and Loren are out to solve the mystery. It's a convoluted plot that is oh so fun to unravel. There are twists on every page that will make your head spin. Each character also brings history to the novel and I desperately hope this is a series as I need to know more about Loren and Spengler. So satisfying!

I have been reading a lot of psychological thrillers/mysteries and I have been getting burnt out on them. So I went into reading As Long as We Both Shall Live not wanting to read it. I am glad that I made myself read this book. It was fantastic.

There are four plotlines in As Long as We Both Shall Live. Yes, 4. When I realized that, I did an internal groan. Anything over two plotlines and I get confused. In As Long as We Both Shall Live, the author was able to keep the plotlines separate. She was also to merge the plotlines when needed. There was a little lag in the middle of the book when two of the plotlines joined. Other than that, this book zipped right along.

I loved how snarky this book was. There were points where I was dying laughing with the views on marriage. I am not married but have been in a relationship for 15 years, and I get it. That’s what made parts of this book funny to me.

Detective Loren is one of my new favorite fictional characters. I will admit, I wasn’t too sure about him when he was introduced. He was abrasive and rude to everyone. But slowly (and yes, slowly) a different side of him was shown. By the end of the book, I loved him.

The mystery angle of the book was good. The author did a great job of keeping me in the dark about what exactly happened the day Marie disappeared. She slowly let out clues about what happened. There are also so many red herrings. That is what made it enjoyable to read!!

I loved how the author brought everything together at the end of the book. The twists were what made the ending for me. I had guessed about one of them early in the book. But the other one, oh no. That took me 100% by surprise.
