I've struggled through the first four in the Charley Davidson series, but I'm now raising the white flag of surrender. There must be something to these books, as there are a staggering number of positive reviews. Readers seem to be lapping these stories up like a cat to cream, so I don't blame the author for continuing to crank them out. However- I am done.
I'm done with Charley being stupidly gaga over Reyes. She loses her damn mind (and all her common sense) the second he looks her way. She has a high enough opinion of herself that I don't get why she'd allow herself to be treated the way he carries on. He says he loves her, but puts her in danger. Sure, he saves her, but what's a guy to do? Maybe not use his girlfriend as bait in the first place?
Their relationship seems immature, self-serving on both sides, and doomed to implode. Maybe this is the author's intention, watching them grow into a healthy relationship as the series moves along, but I'm not going to stick around for any more of the nonsense.

How could she end the last book on a series of 13 in this way I would never understand, I have been following her character for years and still she did this.... I do not think I will never forgive her for this dirty trick. I will not probably read the story of Beep also, not if it's so long and it is going to end so bad.
I am seriously disappointed, I will not add anything else to that.
THANKS NETGALLEY FOR THE PREVIEW!

Sad to hear the last book in the series, it looking forward to the future stories. Strong funny female leads.

I have heard this is the final book in the series and that disappoints me. I love reading these books. They make me laugh and cry. I would recommend these books to all! I will watch for more from Darynda Jones and will read them in eager anticipation.

Since this was the final book in the Charley Davidson series, I wanted to take my time reading it. Did that happen? Of course not! I devoured this book in a few hours, laughing and crying along the way. I'm in denial that this is the final book. I hope a spin off series happens. This book tied up several ongoing mysteries and threw in some extras as a bonus. I can't wait to see what Darynda Jones writes next.

In the last installment to the Charley Davidson Grim Reaper series, the collective audience of Reaper Readers are left hanging out to dry with no wind. Even in the last book in the series the focus on the central conflict is put on a back burner with a quick-fix solution that has me filled with disbelief, and strikes a discordant note dually. Baby Beep has most assuredly acquired her own book series, for everything was set up for her future apocalyptic battle with Satan and his army. Because of this, I felt like Beep was not seen as a beloved child by her parents (Charley and Reyes) but a much vaunted war vessel that holds the key to salvation.
I was thoroughly disappointed by the deaths and subsequent mind-bending (read: cop-out) revelations and surprise deaths throughout this last book. For such a lengthy series (13 books!) the ending was contrived and dull, and I felt as though for the entire series I was reading in circles— as situations repeated themselves repeatedly.
To put it in words that would appeal to the 5 year old in me: The ending made me mad.
I received an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I finished this in 2 days. I tried to read slowly, but that didn't work out so well. I kept reading to find out what happened next. Although I had to stop reading to eat Thanksgiving dinner.
I don't want to spoil it for those not fortunate enough to have the advanced reader copy, so I won't give anything away.
Through the entire series, all 13 books, Darynda Jones has managed to keep my interest in this series. That is not an easy task.
There were several points in the book where I was laughing out loud and other times I was surprised at the turn of events. The chapter headings i.e.: t-shirt sayings and Memes are always so great. We meet new characters and we learn new things about the original crew. The ending leaves me to think spin off series or you're leaving the door open to one day revisit Charley and friends.
I will be on the lookout for whatever Jones writes next.
Goodbye Charley, Reyes, Cookie, Uncle Bob, Amber Quinton, Garrett and Artemis (to name a few) until we meet again one day (possibly, hopefully??)

Darynda Jones is one of the funniest writers I've read, and this book has some impressive surprises, but it certainly didn't feel like the end of a series, so that was disappointing.

I had no idea that this book, is to be the final installment of Charlie Daniels and family. If this is to be the case, I'm crushed and hope that someday we hear from them again, perhaps when Beep has grown older. She did not leave us all hanging, and did wrap most things up, I just don't want it to end.

I’ve been a huge fan of this series since discovering First Grave on the Right sometime during 2010 and have clamored for each installment in the Charleyverse the way Charley jonses for extra hot mocha lattes. I can’t get enough of them. So, when the rumors started going around that the 13th would be the final Charley installment, well….Is it possible to go into withdrawals ahead of time? So, thank you to Darynda Jones, St Martin’s Press, and the benevolent gods of Netgalley for the ARC, because I would’ve been on tenterhooks if I had to wait until January to read this book.
That being said, I don’t want to give away any spoilers with this review. So, I’ll just say three things…
1) Charley and Reyes have their usual chemistry. We’re talking hot enough to turn sand into glass. WOWZA. I love them, though. They’re such a great couple and are always there for each other…even when they’re not.
2) The time thing works itself out. If you thought about it, you’d probably figure it out ahead of time. So, don’t freak out about it the way I did.
3) It has all the mystery, humor, angst, tension, humor, action, adventure, humor, and heat (did I mention humor?) that you’d expect in the final book in this series. And, the ending really is kinda perfect.
4) OK. I lied. I’ll say 4 things. But, really, this is just my reaction as I was reading: YES! NO! Gemma! WHAAA? Wings! Ubie! Mom? WHAA??? Osh? YAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!
All that to say: You’ll love this book the way Charley loves brown edibles and Reyes Alexander Farrow (though not always in that order).

A very fitting end to the series, although I am sad to see it end. I binge read the whole series in order and I still can't get these characters out of my head.
Funny, action packed, sexy, all rolled into one paranormal adventure. I do hope the author does a spin off series as things were left open enough to see it coming!

I loved it! Wow, what a fantastic conclusion! This is one of the best Urban Fantasy series out there. Darynda Jones is a great writer that I can always count on for a good laugh. So many unexpected and wonderful things happened in this finale. I've grown so attached to these characters that I don't want to see them go. This story left some avenues for some of the characters to veer off on and I'm hoping we can all see them again. I enjoy everything this author has written.

This book was provided to me by the publishers and Netgalley for an honest review.
I just could not find the same amount of love for this book as I did for the others. My biggest issues is the way everything tied up in the end. Stuff that didn't seem possible in the earlier books, now was possible. I also felt that there didn't seem to be any major costs.
All in all, I love the series, but the last book left a lot to be desired.

This is a fabulous ending to a fun sexy series. If you enjoy paranormal with romance and sex, this is a great series. Great for fans of paranormal, fantasy and romance.

I loved everything about this book, but the ending. I'm not sure how I would have wanted it to end, but it wasn't the way it did end. With that said, this has been a great series and I know wonder what the author has in store for us next.

This was quite the wild ride and I enjoyed every minute of it. I’ve been a fan of the series for so long and this was the perfect ending.

Oh my, oh my, why does this series have to end!!! I absolutely love all the characters and what a great way to wrap this series up if it has to wrap up. There are so many things that are resolved in this book, revelations, a few ah ha moments and I think I might have shed a few tears. I do hope Darynda continues with some of these characters in a new series because I'm not ready to let them go. One thing I recommend about this series is to listen to it. The narrator does a fantastic job giving a voice to these characters and making them come to life like I think Darynda meant for them to be. Please, please, please read this series. You won't regret it at all.

I gave this one 4 stars because I feel like it was rushed. Like a lot of the books in this series, they are very fast paced, with a lot of storylines that all come together at the last minute. This one was no different, however, knowing this will be the very last book of the series, I feel there is so much left unfinished.
All that aside, this one did not disappoint. There were more in-depth love scenes in this one that were a suprise. And a couple of twists I did not see coming. Charlie, or "Charles", is as quirky, hysterical and awesome as always. I love the love between her and Reyes, and this was one of my favorites in the series for that particular portion of the story.
I sure hope there are spinoff series' that address Beep and her Army. Plus, for being the last in the series, it ends on somewhat of a cliffhanger. I sure hoper there is more to come from this series I adore.

It’s difficult to review this novel without giving away the plot. I will admit that I am late to the game with this series and would recommend reading from the first book.
This is a humorous and steamy series, involving a band of misfits (in EVERY shape and form) and the end of the world. Lot of twists and turns and need for caffeine. This is a fun read that is at once dark and light-hearted with lots of snark and snappy dialog.
Thanks to Net-Galley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Darynda Jones has done it again....for the 13th time! Phenomenal, hysterical, sexy, jawdropping good, Summoned to the Thirteenth Grave leaves nothing to be desired. Jones ries everything up seemlessly and some really unexpected twist that i did not see coming. While this is supposed to be the end to the series, i just dont know. I do not think i can ever get enough of Charlie and Reyes. I am seriously hoping for some devine intervention! If you are a newcomer to the world of Charlie Davidson you would be doing yourself a serious injustice by not starting the series from book one. While Jones does a great job of catching you up at the start of each book without making it redundant you new readers do not want to miss a second of Charlie, or Reyes, or funny moments- just read them all!
