I was both sad and elated when I finished SUMMONED TO THIRTEENTH GRAVE.

Charley's humor is alive and well in the final installment of the Charley Davidson series. I love how she looks at the world and the humor she brings to every situation. I re-read FIRST GRAVE before jumping into book 13 and I was both amazed at how far she has come, yet how unchanged Charley is. She has held onto herself through SO much yet grown with every situation.

Charley and Reyes are one of my favorite UF couples. They just 'get' each bother and I love their interactions. I'm a mom, so the whole having to give Beep to someone else to raise really killed me and I wish that it didn't have to be like that cause they would have been phenomenal parents.

There was some big revelations in book 13. Revelations I never would have guessed. It's amazing how things are connected and who turns out to be more than we thought they would be. Beep has a really fantastic army behind her.

I'm not quite sure how I feel about the ending of SUMMONED TO THIRTEENTH GRAVE. On one hand it makes total sense, on the other, it makes me sad and I really wanted there to be more to it. I still have a ton of questions and want to see more of Charley, Reyes and the rest of the gang. I really hope Beeps story isn't too far off and I'm excited to see how certain people turn out and how the story evolves with a different POV.

This really is a bittersweet ending for a most beloved series of mine! All the aspects that make Charlie Daniels such a fabulous and favorite character are here in spades... her warmth, her caring and especially her sense of humor that keeps a reader thoroughly entertained and chuckling even in the most dire of plot circumstances.

Because it is the last in the series, Ms. Jones did an exceptional job of tying off all the threads for secondary characters. We learn and see satisfying (although occasionally sad) endings for everyone from Rocket and Blue to Gemma and Uncle Bob. We even get to learn more and meet Charlie’s mom! Because of this, however, there wasn’t a lot of time left to allow much depth of character or storyline within the book. I don’t think I’m complaining, I would much rather know how things work out with those we have come to love than leave some plot lines hanging - it’s just the story wasn’t as moving and deep as others in the series have been.

I do have mixed emotions about the ending for Charlie and Reyes. On the one hand, I totally understand and appreciate the way the author ended it. It was a good and logical way to both close the door on their story, yet allow for another series to possibly spin off. It left me somewhat sad and disappointed, however. See? Good way to end but sad it had to. I guess that kind of sums up not only Charlie’s storyline but the entire finale.

I just hope we get to continue with Osh, Beep and the rest in a future series! Now, THAT would make everything better!!

Very good book and series! Is it ending though? Seemed like there could be another book! Could be wishful feelings by me! I highly recommend this author.

This is it, the final book in this series. And how fitting that it's the number thirteen. I'm sad that it's going to be the last one but at the same time I'm glad that we got our big ending. I think we've all been waiting a long time for that to happen, since the previous book ended on such a huge cliffhanger. And to be honest, this book ends more on a HFN than a HEA, since there's still the big battle that Beep has to fight agains Lucifer. I've read somewhere, so this info might not be 100% accurate, that we'll get a spin off for Beep's story. I hope that's true, since I'm in love with this series and would love to continue reading about such fantastic characters. Especially since we don't know what happened to Osh. So I think the author is hinting at the new spin off with that little clue.

And about what happens in this book...well...I'm not giving away any big spoilers so you'll just have to read the book to find out for yourself. But it's safe to say that this time all that could go wrong, goes wrong. And disastrously so. As in all hell is breaking loose and in the literal sense at that. Can't say I'm surprised by that, since that happens to me on a daily basis once I leave home and my cats can have the time of their lives destroying the house.

As for Charley and Reyes, I mean, they can't do any wrong in my opinion. Even if they accidentally almost destroy the whole world, no biggie. After being gone from the earthly plain for what felt like an eternity Charley had to live a little, right? And also, this might be the book where we get to see the couple spend most of their time together. Can't tell you how much I loved that. They are one of my all time favourite couples, their relationship is always so funny and something I someday wish to have with my loved one. Not to mention all the sexy scenes we get in this book. Aside from that, it felt so good to get the whole gang back together, the whole big family reuniting once again for this big battle. I mean, what more could one want from this series conclusion, right? Well, there were some pretty big plot twist and revelations and even deaths that left me completely stunned. I think it was Rocket's secret that had shocked me the most, like who knew? I was so happy and at the same time so sad for him. I wished someone would give him a big hug.

All in all, this is a bitterweeet ending of a great series and this book is a must read for all Charley and Reyes fans!

It is hard to review this book without a spoiler. I knew going into this, it was the last of this series. The signature snark and steam are there, along with the regular workings of serial killers, legacy evil and of course the end of the world, all typical of a Charley book. However, this is the last, so there are a few twists and turns that are unexpected, but the end is ..... well, you will just have to read the book to find out. Charley, your snark, humor and idioms will be missed.

It is so very hard to review perfection isn't it?

I mean where do you even begin, and let's face it, this series has been pretty much that, from the very beginning. And while this has been such a bittersweet experience, it has also been one I won't soon forget.

I adore these characters and while they aren't my babies like they are Ms. Jones, they are still, well, family to me. I love them, I care for them, and I will miss them like crazy.

Reading this book has not only pushed me past my emotional limits but has tested them as well. So many feels.

It started with simply both wanting to devour and savor the experience of it. Heartbreak at knowing this was it for Charley and Reyes and all these amazing characters and yet, also knowing that I had to get through it, because I couldn't wait to see what happened. Couldn't wait to be immersed back into their world.

So with a heart both beating fast to know what would happen and slowly breaking at realizing this was it, I soldiered on and dove straight in, head (and heart) first.

And oh what an experience! I relished it, I devoured it. I soaked it up and in and...it was amazing. Everything I was use to, everything I never thought it could be and everything I knew it could.

The classic Charley humor, the love, the cases, the discoveries, the revelations. The loses, the bemoaning. Just so very much.

I loved it and the ending, while perfect, also left me wanting more. That spin-off series, oh man, it better get here soon.

All in all, that word again, perfection.

Well done Ms. Jones, well done.

Nooooo. I cannot believe that this is the final book in the series. I will miss reading about Charley and her friends and all the surprises and mysteries that are in every book. I am ready to read the first book in the series again and reread them all over again to see if I missed anything. Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read and write about this book.

Charley Davidson is back. Now she’s up against her greatest challenge ever and she has just three day to find out how to stop the end of the world. Piece of cake for Charley and the gang, right?
The end of the Charley Davidson series?? Say it isn’t so!! Yes, I cried. Sobbed a couple of times actually. And then the ending. Wow! To come to the end of such an amazingly fun series is so sad. But I can’t wait to see what Darynda Jones writes next! If it’s anything like Charley, I can’t wait! In the meantime, I rereading the whole series.
5 enthusiastic stars for Summoned to Thirteenth Grave!

Love love love this series. This book is beyond amazing. The relationship between Charley and the other characters is heartwarming and sweet. The storyline is fast paced and surprising. Her reaction to her discovery of who her uncle actually is was funny. Lots of surprises and the ending was fantastic. I will miss the grave series but I look forward to anything else this author will write

"IT WAS TOO SHORT !!! GIMME MOOOOORE" is what I screamed after finishing the last page.
It is so bittersweet to say goodbye to Chaley and Reyes. I mean they are "THAT thing that happens when an irresistible force meets an immovable object" - true fact !

I wish we had more time to dwelve on the losses, especially seeing how some were really shocking... But I have to admit, the infamous Charley Davidson series finished with a BANG ! I ooohed and cried and laughed then shed tears and feel so many emotions all along... What a ride it was - Indiana Jones style may I add !

A big BIG thank you to the amazing Darynda Jones for sharing all those stories and characters with us. I just finished the series but am already getting ready for a re-read since I'm not ready to part with all the characters.

Summoned to Thirteenth Grave is the 13th and final installment in author Darynda Jones' Charley Daniels series. In anticipation for the final book in the series, I also went back to the beginning and re-read First Grave on the Right. You will notice that this is a rather large post. I have included some pretty interesting facts about the book, as well as Q&A from the author, and yes, even a giveaway. I couldn't fit an excerpt into this post, and for that I apologize.

Out of the gate, the author has to resolve Charley's situation. If you've read the 12th installment, you know that Charley made a choice which got her banished by Jehovah from this plane. If you ask Charley if she would do it over again, she wouldn't hesitate one second in saying absolutely. But, once Charley and Reyes have their reunion, and hot damn was it a sexy hot reunion, things get serious.

Their hometown has become a nightmare thanks to Charlie and Reyes opening a hell dimension in Albuquerque. When Charley was in the hell dimension, it was suggested that she look into the circumstances of her mothers death. Hell is coming and in order to stop it, Charley needs the truth. In doing so, Charley is hoping to uncover the answer to the stopping the Shades from spreading and wiping out the planet.

The couple, along with pretty much everyone who has mattered to Charley for some time now, Uncle Bob, Cookie, Garrett, Angel, Osh, Amber, Quentin, Artemis and Rocket, have only 3 days to solve the issue, close the hell dimension, and save the planet from being destroyed. If you think this is the only thing that will be on Charley's plate, you haven't read this series yet. Trouble will always find Charley.

It's fair to say that I am sad that this series is coming to an end but I respect the author's choice. There are series that are still going on right now that should have ended years ago. It's fair to say that I laughed, yes, I cried, and so many other emotions as well. I absolutely looked forward to each and every single one of these books. I looked forward to the snarky meme's the author provided on each and every single chapter. I looked forward to the sarcastic, trouble magnet Charley and her co-horts.

I looked forward to seeing what kind of trouble Charley and Reyes could get into. I loved Cookie, and wished that I had a best friend like her. I looked forward to seeing what the author can come up with next, and what characters would become part of Charley's group who is able to see the supernatural world. I am sad to say this isn't all a happy book, and there are moments that I had sad eyes. Couldn't be help. But, I was also pensive about how the book was ending and if this ending meant the author would come back to Beep's world next. We shall see!

This was my 7 year trip into this author's world. I can't believe we've come to an end...and what's with that ending?! It's taken me a couple of days to think about this before penning a review. I don't think I can do it justice. I think there is an opening here for a new series with Beep...what is the author up to I wonder?
I'm going to miss all these characters, their crazy lives of chaos.
I've gone back to reread book one that I originally read in 2011 to see how it all started.

I have to add here the author's memes and sayings at the beginning of each chapter cracked me up. "Librarians may come across as meek and docile, but do not ruin a book. Or Three" ....no kidding says this Library Officer lol

Book source ~ NetGalley (for tour)

Charley Davidson broke the only rule she was supposed to follow and God (yes, Him) flicked her like a bug into a Hell dimension as punishment. Ok, maybe he didn’t actually flick her. He may have whisked her. Or scooted? Anyway, after 100+ years of exile she’s back and she’s not sure what she’s missed more: Reyes, her daughter, her friends or coffee. But just because she’s been gone doesn’t mean shit hasn’t hit the fan and now she has to roll up her sleeves, assuming she has sleeves, and get to work.

I finished this epic final installment of an even bigger epic series and all I could hear is the Doors playing The End. That was a stupid ringtone I picked for my phone, but anyway, I’m sad to say it is The End for Charley’s adventures. However, I left the last page behind with hope in my heart that there will, at some point, be a book/trilogy/series featuring the ever adorable Beep and her army facing off with Lucifer.

I laughed, I cried, I snorted, I drooled, so it was a typical Charley book in that respect. But I was also floored by a certain revelation. Woo doggie! I totally did not see that coming. And that thing, at the end? I never would have thought of that! So, goodbye for now, my friends. I hope to see you again soon in another dimension. Or installment. Or whatever. Oh, who am I kidding? I’m totally going to re-read this entire series and soon, so get some cookies and put on the tea!

I don’t even know what to say. Saying goodbye to these characters just doesn’t seem right. I’ve followed the series since first grave released. Well since I first seen the cover even before the series started.
Like every book in this series I couldn’t put it down. As I had to see how it ends. As the cliffhanger from 12th grave was killer. This book though did not disappoint. And the ending was perfect. Well except for that last sentence. And I hope that is foreshadowing a new series?!?!?

So sad to say goodbye to Charley, Reyes and the gang. I'm really hoping Darynda will revisit the whole gang when Beep is older and it's time to battle the Devil. But will we see Charley and Reyes then? If?

Overall I loved the story. It had the usual fun and chemistry of all the books in the series. I'm still not sure about how I feel regarding that ending. But then it is, what it is. I will continue to reread and enjoy this series for as long as I can read words on a page, it is an all-time favorite!

This is it. The conclusion to the Charley Davidson series.I thought I was ready for this book, but boy was I wrong. I was prepared for anything, and made sure to keep tissues close by, because I knew I would need them. This review will contain spoilers if you haven't read the previous books in the series. So think twice before you continue reading. If you read the previous book, you know Charley did the one thing she was explicitly told not to, which resulted in her paying the price: being kicked off the earthly plain for eternity. But of course she makes it back to earth because there is a battle to be fought. This book was action-packed, mysterious, hilarious, emotional and amazing. Summoned to Thirteenth Grave was perfect.

It was also very emotional for me, because I spent more than six years hanging out with Charley and her tribe. Six years of going on crazy adventures, laughing and crying with them. Each and every character in this book has a special place in my heart. Darynda Jones, like in her previous books, found a way to add twists and turns to the story. There were still so many secrets to be revealed, and some of them shocked the hell out of me. Don't expect this book to only focus on the battle, if you know Charley, she can multitask like no other. She won't leave any case unsolved, and I loved that the author included them into the story. I am also happy that we got to see every character again. I am going to miss them so much, and they will hold a special place in my heart forever. It will take some time for me to get over this series. The only upside to the conclusion of this book is that there will be a spin-off focusing on Charley and Reyes daughter Beep.

Charley has been exiled from the earthly plane forever but for some unknown reason she is allowed to return have only a hundred plus years in exile. She has missed everyone while she was gone, and she has so many questions about what happened while she was gone, how her mother died, if there is still coffee?

In the final saga, Jones has pulled out all the stops. One of the best written books to date and still as funny as ever! She has filled the final book with so many surprises you cannot even begin to fathom what will happen. This was truly a tribute to the Charley Davidson series that would make any author or reader proud. Since there were a few things that were not finished, I really hope that there are plans in the works for the next series by Jones.
