I really like this series very, very much, so I was looking forward to this last volume with great anticipation! It’s sad, and at the same time, I was curious to see what the author was going to cook for us.
Charley has been exiled for hundreds of years in a parallel dimension, so she is very surprised when she is back on earth and that only 10 days have passed. But she did not expect the previous events to have left so many terrible consequences, for which she is largely responsible. In addition to that, she learned during her absence that, to contain the current crisis, she had to learn what happened when her mother died giving her birth.
I once again really enjoyed this novel and even if I don’t want to reveal too much, I loved learning a little more about Charley’s mother. Our heroes have to face a battle that will not be easy, while managing everyday life that is not easy either, it must be said.
It was as always a very good reading and I was delighted to see all the characters again. I am very curious to discover more about the universe and to discover the spin off of the series!

I hate to see this serie end but what a book to complete the journey of Charlie and her friends and family, never saw parts of this coming but wow!!

The book starts right basically where we left off.
Well 10 days later exactly.
Then we meander about worrying about the hell dimension that was unleashed, figuring out how to close it.
A lot of the breadcrumbs we had to follow didn’t give me enough clues to figure things out.
I was so shocked when I found out that someone close to Charley died. I had no indication prior that this person had died!
And then some of Charley’s great departed friends crossed. It was so sad.
This definitely had the emotional feels, but I felt the battle was entirely too easy.
I also have questions like <spoiler> did Charley and Reyes shed their human skin and are no longer able to live on the Earthly plane? How does this work?</spoiler>
Also we didn’t see much of Angel and I was disappointed with that.
We learn some startling news about someone also very close to Charley.
This whole book was a bomb drop.
And then the ending.
That ending makes you wonder.
Makes you wonder if the spin off is going to happen and if it is who’s pov will it be in?
Is that person dead? Alive? In a different plane?
WHAT HAPPENED!!??!?
I’m not sure if I’m satisfied or not. It depends, all signs are pointing to a spin off and hopefully Charley is around. If that’s the case than Reyes and Charley get their HEA but right now it’s HFN well for 3,000 years.
I am interested to see where this goes. If we do get the spin off. The overall story isn’t over, so I’m not 100% satisfied.
<i> Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for allowing me to read this book for free and review it with my own opinions.</i>

I received an ARC of this book to read through NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. Summoned to Thirteenth Grave is the final book in Darynda Jones delightful Charley Davidson Grim Reaper series. You do need to read the series to fully enjoy this book. I am a little wistful that the series is over but I also think it wise to end it now as sometimes series end up just being repeats if they continue on too long. In this book Charley and Reyes have 3 days to save the world from being taken over by evil demons and to do so she needs to find out how her mother died unfortunately the one person she thought she could trust to tell her what happened, her Uncle Bob is lying to her about it and time is running out. Reyes and Charley are still burning hot enough to melt sand into glass and the whole gang is back for a rip roaring finale. I enjoyed it immensely. Quite Steamy. Beautifully brilliant ending to a emotional and engaging series that I just loved falling into. This last story had it all danger, mystery, action, adventure and heart pounding twists that come out of no where and leave you breathless..... I have to admit I was supersized by some of the things that happened and highly entertained by this thrilling journey.

Great series! I really enjoyed it. I'm excited to read other books by her in the future! Definitely recommended.

I am happy and sad at the same time. This has been an absolutely amazing series and I will miss Charley and Reyes and the gang will all of my heart.
Darynda did a beautiful job with this last hurrah in New Mexico. I am gutted to not be getting more Reyes ( I mean, duh lol ) and hopefully we will get to see them later on in a Beep story? Because Osh! And more Amber and Quentin please!

I received this ARC for an honest review. I have such mix emotions about the book. Even though I loved every word, this is the last book of the series. I was laughing while feeling sad that this is the end. I will miss Charlie’s sass and snarky comments. Darynda did a wonderful job concluding this series, but I don’t want it to end. I can’t give you details because it will ruin the book. Everything is so interconnected. I can’t wait for Beep’s story. Charlie and Reyes are such a perfect couple. I do recommend this book, but it is NOT a stand alone. You must read the previous books. All I can say is “I LOVE THIS SERIES!”

This has been one of my all-time favorite urban fantasy series and while I'm sad to see this come to an end, I understand it was past time for it to finally happen. There were things covered that felt wholly unnecessary and the ending didn't wrap everything up quite as nicely as I would have expected either.
-The side mystery involving Earl's biological son? Seriously no point in that being included.
-I understand the need to retain Charley's humor and the need for random poker games to "blow off steam" but if I knew there were only 3 days left until the Earth was overrun by demons I'm not sure I'd be cracking the same jokes or playing poker.
-The easy bargaining with Michael to keep Reyes and Uncle Bob was far too easy.
-The ending? The stabbing in the heart. The Haven. I'm so confused.
-There will definitely be a spin-off series involving Beep. What I want to know right now is if there's going to be random snarkiness from Charley floating in the ether (because please no, that'd be too weird.)
I will absolutely be on the lookout for a series about Beep which could be good but a part of me can't help but think it might be best to leave things as is and call it a day. Would love to see something fresh and new from Darynda instead.

4.5 Stars
Charley had been banished for restoring Amber’s life and now, she is back after a hundred years of exile, but thankfully time runs differently on earth. While Charlie was trapped in her cosmic time out, Reyes has been busy gathering the troops in one place to fight the demons who were released when the hell dimension he made and eventually broke in order to get back out. Charley has been told the key to winning the fight between good and evil is finding out what really happened to her mother when she was born.
Charley’s usual irreverence and quirky behavior is in full swing and thankfully, Reyes is by her side much of the book trying to save Albuquerque and the world from the spreading evil demons released from the dark dimension. Demons are possessing people and turning them into vicious killers. These are particularly bad ones created by someone important to Charley. All the favorite characters have important roles to play in this final book which has some surprises, some happy and others quite sad.
Some events in this books will as usual have readers laughing, but others will bring them to tears. My favorite part is that Reyes and Charley are together for much of the story and some loose ends are tied up as well as questions being answered. Ultimately, Charley’s main concern is for her daughter’s welfare as well as Reyes. What shakes out from their earlier actions in the previous book has some good and not so good consequences.
And so we come to the end of all things and possibly a beginning. I imagine finishing a beloved series is always hard for the author as well as the fans. Admittedly, this conclusion left me feeling conflicted. I can see why Ms. Jones wrote it that way as it sets up Charley’s daughter, Beep, and Osh’s story. I have mixed feelings about Reyes and Charley’s resolution and where this story takes ultimately them. That being said, this book is a necessary read for fans of the series to see it all come to completion. This last book and its conclusion will have readers talking about it for a long time.

Thank you to Net Galley for letting me read an ARC copy of the book. This series has had me hooked from book one and just keeps getting more addicting with each new journey. An emotional, fun, sexy, engaging and thrilling adventure that takes you through exciting highs to heart breaking lows and makes you want to see Charley and the gang finally win. So sorry to see it end i may have to reread the series all over again. Can't wait to see what else Darynda Jones comes up with next.

Such a great end to the series! I cried and laughed and am hopeful for a Beep spinoff soon. It feels like this book should have been 800 pages because so much happened, but it didn't feel rushed or disconnected. I was happy to see all of my favorite characters and super surprised at some of the revelations about them.

I both highly anticipated and dreaded this book. I didn't wait for the next and final telling of the story, especially after how Twelfth Grave ended but I also couldn't imagine how Darynda Jones could tie all the pieces together. The previewed excerpt also made me fear that my favorite characters would be absent. Forgive my lack of faith, Darynda... you brought it all home! As sad as I am that the series had to end, I loved seeing how it ended. There were plenty of "omg!" moments, with some parts that made me smile and others that made me sad. So hard to tell my favorite parts without spoilers but for those who have followed the series, this is a must read. I'll miss Charlie... Reyes... Cookie... Uncle Bob... Osh... Garrett... Angel.... Gemma... Rocket... the snarky comments and witty writing. A difficult task to bring this all to a close done well!!

I have loved this series from the beginning right to the very end. Darynda Jones has a wicked sense of humour. This is one series that I will miss incredibly.

It’s rare for me to enjoy a lengthy series, because USUALLY the plots and character arcs get so bland and stretched I loose interest. However, Jones has done the near impossible and finished a massive series on a very high note. Loose ends were tied off, character arcs came to full conclusion...yes she probably could keep writing them, but stopping at 13 is super fitting for our favorite Grim Reaper!
The book opens and Charlie has been stuck in hell without coffee! *gasp*! After a long century she returns, Reyes finds her and explains that hell has been opened and the demons are basically reaking havoc. The dynamic duo and the rest of the gang proceed to find out ways to save the world!
It’s a bitter sweet goodbye, but Summoned to 13th Grave is by no means a weak ending. If anything it’s made me want to go back and read the whole series all again!

4.5 Thank you Net Galley and St Martins Press for the opportunity to read Summoned to Thirteenth Grave! All comments , typos, mistakes are my own and were unsolicited. I was anxiously awaiting this book after the ending of book 12. It delivered. I was happy with all the people that came back, the new person that is introduced and related to some other characters (can you see I am trying not to spoil it for anyone :) ) Some of the revelations of friends and relatives was astounding, let my jaw drop a tad! There were a lot of heart melting moments along with the panty melting, sigh. I rate this 5 stars because I can't detract a star for my lack of complete understanding of the very ending. No, not the question that is asked, but the "oneness" so to speak. There is the expected snark, the welcome humor, the love and some tears to a well rounded conclusion. Thank you Darynda Jones for taking me into another world with every book.

Goosebumps, tears, laughs. This book has it all. I was so sad to read the last book in this, one of my favorite series. It was so great to see all of the wonderful characters and get answers to some questions. She's one of very few authors that can always keep me guessing and surprise me and this book did that, too. I will be waiting anxiously to see what happens next with this world.

"I bring one person back from the dead and bam. Banished for all eternity. Exiled to a hell with no light, no hair products, and no coffee. Mostly no coffee."
It's hard to wrap my head around the fact that The Charley Davidson series has come to an end. Yet in my opinion, with the way it ended, there is a very high possibility for a spin of series in the future. I'm going to make this review as spoiler free as possible in hopes that if you read this and haven't been introduced to this world maybe you'll decide to give it a chance. This is a series that needs to be read from the beginning with the novel Right Grave on the Right.
"Safety first!
Just kidding. Coffee first.
Safety’s, like, third or fourth."
Summoned to Thirteenth Grave has our favorite group of people all coming together to stop the end of the world, which may be Charley and Reyes fault. Charley has to figure out how to do this and keep all her loved one safe. Charley is still snarky and coffee obsessed. Reyes is still dark and dangerous. Together their banter makes you chuckle and their sex is scorching, literally and figuratively.
"He swallowed my gasp, kissing me long and hard and deep, siphoning every doubt I had that this was real. That he was here. On me and around me and inside me."
I had so many emotions when I started chapter one of Summoned to Thirteenth Grave. Joy to be back with some of my favorite characters, sad to be starting the final adventure and anxious to see what Darynda Jones had in store for them. The writing style and story line is constant with the series and fits right in with the other novels. Full of demon fighting, drinking ALL the coffee and helping souls cross to the other side. Unfortunately, this book also has us saying goodbye to some of our friends so keep the tissues handy.
Summoned to Thirteenth Grave is a satisfying ending to a fantastic series. Here's hoping Jones writes future books in this universe.
"Charley Davidson and Reyes Farrow: That thing that happens when an irresistible force meets an immovable object. —TRUE FACT"
5 stars

A perfectly executed ending to a series that astounded and entertained more and more with each story...the imagination, hilarious inner monologue (Charley), wry and witty banter, and a whip smart, lightning fast paced dialog...all these elements were so ingeniously crafted to keep the pages turning at a furious rate, continuing to whet the appetite for more Charley, et al.
With each story, I was hard pressed to but the book down once I started reading...the gift that this author has for keeping such a long running series fresh, interesting, and original was readily apparent through the uniqueness of its characters and premise. Ms Jones is particularly adept at providing a backstory (as a refresher or for newer readers) that does not detract with the story’s momentum...especially necessary with so many constantly moving and changing elements and a sizable cast of characters.
I shall miss the ongoing Charley and Reyes show, but now is the perfect time to read it all over again from the beginning...this is one series that’ll continue entertain the second time around.
This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and NetGalley. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.
