Charley Davidson, Grim Reaper extraordinaire, is pissed. She’s been kicked off the earthly plain for eternity – which is the appropriate amount of time to make a person stark raving mad. But someone’s looking out for her, and she’s allowed to return after a mere hundred years in exile. Is it too much to hope for that not much has changed? Apparently it is. Bummer.

She’s missed Reyes and her daughter, Beep, but now that she’s back on earth, it’s time to put to rest burning questions that need answers. What happened to her mother? How did she really die? Who killed her? And are cupcakes or coffee the best medicine? It all comes to a head in an epic showdown between good and evil in this final smart and hilarious novel.

First off it makes me very sad that this is the end, I love Charley so very much. I hate to think I don't get to read about her anymore. How do I begin to write a review for this bittersweet final book ? It's been a series I've really enjoyed and I love that the author decided to end it on episode thirteen as somehow that is just so fitting. These characters have gone through so much and recently I've been more than a little upset that Charley and Reyes cannot be with their daughter Beep and I was so hoping that this book would change all that. Still this power couple just keep going fighting demons, drinking coffee, helping the dead and generally saving the world. Oh but that unfortunately is exactly what they need to do here but how do they defeat something that is pretty much going to mean the end of the world ? Too bad Reyes big brother isn't around but luckily Charley is home although she's not exactly sure how or why she's where she wants to be. No time for analysis though except there are those who have been watching and they are a lot closer than she thought !
I began this feeling hopeful and honestly felt my heart start to sink as the story progressed. Something I kind of guessed but still this author twisted the knife. You will smile and be elated, you will feel a creeping melancholy but most of all you will want to go back to the beginning and read this wonderful series all over again because it's ends exactly as it should but my lips are sealed !

Thank you met galley, St Martin Press and Darynda Jones for my free copy of Summoned to Thirteenth Grave
The Charlie Davidson Series is one of my favorites and it’s all because I love the characters so much. In anticipation for this book, which is the final installment in the series, I binged all the books so I could remember all the amazingness that is Charlie Davidson.
In this installment Charlie’s back from her banishment after a mere hundred years. But now that she’s back there are things that need her attention like saving the world, helping the departed and of course drinking coffee.
I won’t go too much into the story and thus spoil it but I was happy with the conclusion and cannot wait for the spin off as Osh is one of my fav characters.
This series reminds me of a Paranormal Stephanie Plum (with character growth) that turns into something a little darker as the series progresses. For me though what makes the series are the character. I want a best friend like Cookie, family at my back like uncle Bob and a love like Reyes - and the rest of the cast is amazing. I mentioned my love of Osh right?
If you haven’t read this series I definitely recommend. It’s light, funny and just a great read

Darynda Jones does it again! Summoned to the Thirteenth Grave is by far the best ending to a series. Darynda summons all emotions in a reader and creates a sense of closure.

A really great ending to Charley and Reyes story.
A little sad to see it end but hopefully there will be another series with Beep and Osh.
Really was very spellbinding it was hard to put down.
It had some very good endings for some and some unsuspected ending for others.
Voluntarily reviewed.

Charley Davidson, Grim Reaper/Goddess, has returned to her earthly plain. Being exiled for over a hundred years was super hard, but now that she's back, Charley has no idea what to expect. Finding out that barely any time has passed on earth is a major plus... allowing her more time with her hubby, Reyes and daughter, Beep. Still, all isn't sunshine and rainbows.

Charley has a question that she needs answered in order to unlock the key to the mystery that is her life. She must find out how her mother really died. To top it all off, Reyes's unleashed dimension is merging with the one on earth and the demons he had in it are out for Charley's blood. This is looking like it might be Charley's last and final quest. Find out what happens in SUMMONED TO THE THIRTEENTH GRAVE.

***SPOILERS***
Author Darynda Jones brings her Charley Davidson series to a close with SUMMONED TO THE THIRTEENTH GRAVE. Danger lurking around every corner, suspense, snark and an epic battle all add up to make it one of the best installments of the series. Each and every endearing character is showcased in this last novel and readers really get a feel for how close-knit and special they all are to one another. I was sad for the series to come to a close. Although the ending was great, it left me with a lot of unanswered questions... questions I hope will be answered in a spin-off series featuring Beep.

YES!!!! What a fantastic conclusion! So many surprises and omg that ending. I’m over here slow clapping and wanting to run around high fiving everyone. I loved every minute of this book. I’ve been Team Charley & Reyes since I picked up the first book many years ago. It would be so awesome if this series was a movie or a show. There was a lot going down towards the end and I could not put this sucker down. It’s like I couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next, but on the flip side, I didn’t want it to end. I can not wait to see what’s going to happen next. Whatever it is, I’m going to read it the minute it comes out. Seriously, this is hands down one of my favorite series that I could read over and over again.

13th book in series

I have been a fan since the first grave and I will be looking forward to more by this author-
maybe a spin-off. I am a librarian and I have recruited other grave lovers also.
Darynda has kept my interested through the whole series.

The memes or t-shirt saying at the beginning of each chapter are always a highlight for me
I have some memorized waiting for the perfect moment for them to fly.

Thank you Darynda Jones for this series- please write a new series that we can fall in love with
all over again with. For now, I will go back to the First Grave and read them again!

The final book and I don't know what to say. I've loved this series from beginning to end. Although I'm very sad this is the last book Mrs. Jones didn't disappoint. The fun and the laughter are still there as well as several answers to many questions. I didn't hate the ending (as I feared) just sad that it ended. I would like to think that we are going to get a spin off series with beep! Fingers crossed. This book will not disappoint readers don't be afraid just enjoy!

The final installment of the deep, beautiful, and sarcastic journal of Charley Davidson, grim reaper and coffee addict. This book answered some of my questions, gave me shivers (in a good way), and left me with a smile on my face. If you've followed this series from in beginning, its ending will not disappoint you.

The ending of a series is always bittersweet. I love seeing resolution to a story line I've been invested in through several books, but it's also hard to say goodbye to those characters. Unless, of course, it's only goodbye for now. Then it's a little less bitter and a little more sweet.

Charley and Reyes' story...well, there were quite a few ups and downs with them, weren't there? But no matter what's been thrown at this seemingly mismatched duo, they've been true to one another. And, HOLY WOW, are they smokin' hot. Maybe it's the fact that they'd both sacrifice anything and everything for one another if they had to that puts them at the top of my couples list.

As far as this particular story line goes, Charley's returned from exile and...well, things are complicated. Actually, they're not all that complicated. And they do get resolved. THINGS HAPPEN. Obligations are met. Charley and Reyes do their thang.

And pieces are maneuvered for a continuation of this story once a certain sweet baby has grown into herself.

I'm sad to say goodbye to Charley, Reyes, and the rest of the crew, but I'm not at all displeased with how their story came to a close. Here's to whatever the future will bring!

I love, love, love this series and am sad to see this is the last installment. I enjoyed this one so much mainly because all of my favorite characters were very present and all working together. Never had a set of books that continually makes me laugh out loud.

I've struggled through the first four in the Charley Davidson series, but I'm now raising the white flag of surrender. There must be something to these books, as there are a staggering number of positive reviews. Readers seem to be lapping these stories up like a cat to cream, so I don't blame the author for continuing to crank them out. However- I am done.

I'm done with Charley being stupidly gaga over Reyes. She loses her damn mind (and all her common sense) the second he looks her way. She has a high enough opinion of herself that I don't get why she'd allow herself to be treated the way he carries on. He says he loves her, but puts her in danger. Sure, he saves her, but what's a guy to do? Maybe not use his girlfriend as bait in the first place?

Their relationship seems immature, self-serving on both sides, and doomed to implode. Maybe this is the author's intention, watching them grow into a healthy relationship as the series moves along, but I'm not going to stick around for any more of the nonsense.

How could she end the last book on a series of 13 in this way I would never understand, I have been following her character for years and still she did this.... I do not think I will never forgive her for this dirty trick. I will not probably read the story of Beep also, not if it's so long and it is going to end so bad.
I am seriously disappointed, I will not add anything else to that.

THANKS NETGALLEY FOR THE PREVIEW!

Sad to hear the last book in the series, it looking forward to the future stories. Strong funny female leads.

I have heard this is the final book in the series and that disappoints me. I love reading these books. They make me laugh and cry. I would recommend these books to all! I will watch for more from Darynda Jones and will read them in eager anticipation.

Since this was the final book in the Charley Davidson series, I wanted to take my time reading it. Did that happen? Of course not! I devoured this book in a few hours, laughing and crying along the way. I'm in denial that this is the final book. I hope a spin off series happens. This book tied up several ongoing mysteries and threw in some extras as a bonus. I can't wait to see what Darynda Jones writes next.

In the last installment to the Charley Davidson Grim Reaper series, the collective audience of Reaper Readers are left hanging out to dry with no wind. Even in the last book in the series the focus on the central conflict is put on a back burner with a quick-fix solution that has me filled with disbelief, and strikes a discordant note dually. Baby Beep has most assuredly acquired her own book series, for everything was set up for her future apocalyptic battle with Satan and his army. Because of this, I felt like Beep was not seen as a beloved child by her parents (Charley and Reyes) but a much vaunted war vessel that holds the key to salvation.

I was thoroughly disappointed by the deaths and subsequent mind-bending (read: cop-out) revelations and surprise deaths throughout this last book. For such a lengthy series (13 books!) the ending was contrived and dull, and I felt as though for the entire series I was reading in circles— as situations repeated themselves repeatedly.

To put it in words that would appeal to the 5 year old in me: The ending made me mad.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I finished this in 2 days. I tried to read slowly, but that didn't work out so well. I kept reading to find out what happened next. Although I had to stop reading to eat Thanksgiving dinner.
I don't want to spoil it for those not fortunate enough to have the advanced reader copy, so I won't give anything away.

Through the entire series, all 13 books, Darynda Jones has managed to keep my interest in this series. That is not an easy task.

There were several points in the book where I was laughing out loud and other times I was surprised at the turn of events. The chapter headings i.e.: t-shirt sayings and Memes are always so great. We meet new characters and we learn new things about the original crew. The ending leaves me to think spin off series or you're leaving the door open to one day revisit Charley and friends.

I will be on the lookout for whatever Jones writes next.
Goodbye Charley, Reyes, Cookie, Uncle Bob, Amber Quinton, Garrett and Artemis (to name a few) until we meet again one day (possibly, hopefully??)

Darynda Jones is one of the funniest writers I've read, and this book has some impressive surprises, but it certainly didn't feel like the end of a series, so that was disappointing.
