Such a sweet regency novel. The main character Rose is fiesty and fun. William has always loved Rose but he isn't able to marry who he chooses. They have the best conversations and are so obviously meant to be.

I LOVED this beautifully crafted regency! It is sweet with all the emotion and tender characters that I enjoy. Fans of regency, pick this up next!! This was a sweet and clean romance, I'd rate G or PG for kissing. Definitely will be watching for more from Esther Hatch!

Rose visits Feldstone Hall every year with her family and always enjoys her friendship with William the younger son, but when William's older brother disgraces himself by marrying for love he is disinherited and suddenly William is in line for the Earldom and expected to marry well. William therefore distances himself from Rose, much as he doesn't want to, and feels that he has to do his duty..... but where does that leave Rose?

Not my normal type of book but I enjoyed it for a change of scene and liked the descriptions of Feldstone Hall

Well, this book was a roller coaster ride of a book! But it was delightful! Kept me intrigued and interested all the way through. I didn’t want to put it down. I loved the setting and Feldstone Manor. It all was just wonderful. I thank #NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read and review #TheRosesofFeldstone . My reviews are my own.

I should have reviewed this book a couple of months ago but it seems it fell through a cyber crack and I'm just now getting to it. First of all, I love the cover and yes, I do judge a book by it's cover, and the blurb about the book.

Rose and William have been childhood friends and she loved visiting Feldstone Manor. Notice the past tense "loved". Rose no longer loves visiting Feldstone Manor because it seems William is no longer her friend and has even had the roses that used to grace the entrance to the manor pulled up, and replaced with stone lions. Why is William no longer her friend? Why is he so cold to her? I wondered that too and grew impatient with his cold/hot behavior towards Rose.

William is the younger son, who typically isn't the one that inherits the house and all the responsibilities that go with it. But when his older brother disgraces the family by marrying a woman from another country for love (the shock and horror of it all!), their father disowns him and William instantly becomes the heir and all the obligations that go with it suddenly fall upon his shoulders.

I liked Rose and how she was kind to everyone. The part involving the young chimney sweep that got stuck in the chimney really showcased her kindness and concern for those others thought not worth thinking about. I understood how she sometimes goaded William because she didn't understand why he was being standoffish towards her and he wouldn't explain himself--it sounds like something I would do. 😏

I wasn't sure how to feel about William at times. Quite often I was upset with him and wanted to slap some sense into him, other times part of the "old" William would peek out and I felt bad for him--that he now had the burden that should've been his older brother's. To me, that didn't excuse his treatment of Rose.

There were humorous moments with Rose and her sister at the hat shop, and those outrageous sounding hats. One of my favorites was the Petit Fours and now whenever I see or eat them I think about having 4 of them. 💗 There's also meddling parents thrown in the mix because what's a Regency romance without them?

This is a clean regency romance with only kissing. Thanks to Covenant Communications and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this book. All thoughts in this review are my own.

I finished this book rather quickly. There is something about a story that takes place in another time and place that helps me relax and almost literally transports me there.
Rose is on her way to visit a family friend with her parents but is frustrated because her relationship with the son has changed over the past 2 years. Rose is smart, witty, stubborn and wants to know why William is acting differently.
William is the second son of an Earl but was made the heir when his elder brother married outside of his parent's wishes. He is bound and determined not to hurt his parents, but does that mean he will have to sacrifice his happiness?
I enjoyed this book and its clever banter but did find some of the situations to be a little far-fetched. Overall I give the book 3 out of 5 stars.

I loved Esther Hatch's debut novel! I will definitely be reading more of her! Hope she has planned more books soon though...
Rose had always enjoyed her annual visits to Feldstone Manor. That is, until two years ago, when her good friend and secret crush, William, the youngest son of the earl is named the heir of the estate after his older brother marries under his social class and is disinherited because of it. William feels the responsability that now he has to marry according to his father's expectations and that doesn't include pursuing Rose, so he struggles to be dettached from her.
Rose has no idea why William suddenly treats her like she has the plague, and she's not the kind of girl that can just be ok with that and remain ignored!
This is a funlighted romance! I truly enjoyed it. William's aloofness that slowly begins to melt next to Rose. Rose's wit and charm annoying him and compelling him at the same time! I loved the banter and dialogues between them!
The romance is so sweet and the characters were really endearing to me.
Just the kind of regency romance I like! Sweet, funny, and loveable characters!
I highly recommend this book! A fast paced and enjoyable read!
I received a copy of this book from Covenant Communications and this is my voluntary and honests review.

This romance was probably my favorite of the bunch I read. I found it to be a real page turner. While it of course follows the classic love story with its misunderstandings and redirects, it still felt fresh and enjoyable to me.

The characters were young children who became best friends and fell in love in their young teens. When their romance is cut short and he becomes distant, the heroine Rose wonders what she did wrong. She is forced to see him often because their families are friends. My favorite scene, which I call the "Do you hate me" scene is INCREDIBLE. You'll feel the romance from your somersaulting stomach to your clenching toes. (Was that weird? Yeah, that was weird. Sorry!)

I recommend this book to all romance lovers- (and it is a clean romance if you are wondering.)

I loved this book. I loved the use of the roses throughout the book. I especially loved Rose. I think this was a lovely first book for this author.
This happily ever after was worth the wait, but there was a bit of head-banging on my part along the way waiting for it to happen.

The Roses of Feldstone is a sweet novel set in Victorian England. Rose Davenport has admired William for years. As the second son William may have been attainable as a husband, but when his older brother marries for love all thoughts of marriage between Rose and William are ended.
I enjoyed this book, the settings were beautiful and the characters well developed. I gave it 4 stars because the plot was too predictable. If you are looking for a light read, grab a cup of tea and a plate of biscuits and settle in for a pleasant afternoon or two.

I was given this book by NetGalley.com with no expectations. All thoughts are my own.

I'm usually a huge fan of books from this time period and this trope. The friends to more with a wrench thrown in the middle always provides for good tension and emotionally driven moments. However I had a hard time getting past the wrench. The crutch of the whole book was that Rose was unsuitable. I spent 60 percent of the book too distracted about not understanding why she was unsuitable that I couldn't fully appreciate the rest of the story. When I finally understood William's point of view and his situation his actions made complete sense, however his father's did not. For that time period, with a man that uppity, he would not have associated with the family so closely year after year if their daughter was that unsuitable.
There were some tender parts and the setting was described beautifully but the plot just left me confused and the characters were more obtuse than endearing. There was very little character growth, and the resolution between the two didn't even come about from growth, but third party involvement leaving the characters very one dimensional.
This is a debut novel for this author and I don’t always love every book from even my favorite authors so there’s a chance I could love whatever comes next from Esther Hatch.

Miss Rose Davenport, the youngest of 5 sisters, and her parents are arriving at Feldstone Manor after a 4-hour journey from London. Rose is nervous about seeing William, Lord Telford, son of the Earl and Countess of Chatsworth. Although they have known one another for years, Rose and William don’t always get along.

William’s older brother, Joseph, married a Spanish woman and since his father refused to recognize the woman as his wife, Joseph moved away. Then, Lord Chatsworth made William next in line to succeed his father and he has assumed the name, Lord Telford. What Joseph did upset his parents very much and Lady Chatsworth has become quite ill from it. With no daughters of her own, Lady Chatsworth likes being with Rose. During her family’s visit to Feldstone, Rose hopes to encourage the Lady to rise from her bed and get better.

Lord and Lady Chatsworth want William to find a wife so he agrees to go to London for the season. When Rose and her family return to their home in London, they also join the season’s activities. Even though William acts chilly and prickly toward Rose, she cannot help but secretly want him. But when a mistaken identity occurs, things come to a head. Will William and Rose find the love they both seek?

Starting out, this book seemed like it would be a good romance, but as I got further into it, I felt like I was watching a tennis match. Rose and William were back and forth at one another and I couldn’t keep up with what they were angry about. A little bit of the cat and mouse scenario in a book is fine, but please don’t “over-season” it. Sorry. Not my cup of tea.

This was a decent story, and I'd check out this author again. With this story, I struggled to connect and like Rose. She seemed to misread everything in her dealings with William. The romance between the two felt forced to a few touches and kisses, and seemed out of place for a (clean) Regency romance.

Not a bad book.. The premise was good, and the characters started out very likable and believable. But then things just go ridiculous. The whole conflict between Rose and William could have been resolved in about five pages, but things dragged on to the point where I started skipping some pages. . I liked Rose and William, and after their conflict was resolved, the story was quite entertaining. So, I would definitely recommend it, but be prepared to shake your head and want to slap these two knuckleheads...a lot.

This story follows the love story of Rose and William. I really liked both characters and following them as the finally made their way to each other. However, the entire premise is based around the fact that the William's father, the Earl, doesn't approve of his eldest son's choice in wife so he disinherits him and makes William his heir. Sooo, this goes against all of the British laws of the time and their system of primogeniture. I just found it really hard to look past. Everything else in the book was indicative of the author trying to stay true to the times, so I'm not sure why such a huge change in the entire culture of the times would have been made.

On a positive note, the writing itself flowed really well and the story between the main characters was lovely. The secondary characters were well done too.

Can I just say that I adored this book? I loved Rose. William I wasn't too happy with for a while. But the further that I read into the book, more information was brought to light and made all the pieces fall into place.

With a time limit in place for William to secure a bride (his own time limit to hopefully help his mother's health), many entertaining scenes occur. Misunderstanding abound, hidden feelings and emotions come to light, past promises enlightened, heartache and uncertainty constantly present, but most especially the realization of losing what one loves most will cause characters to make some very hard but very important decisions.

So many aspects that made this a great novel. The characters, the storyline, the setting, the slow reveal of the characters' history, meddling parents, social events...it's all here in this book.

I loved the inclusion of the roses and how everything played out in regards to Roses. The social events were fun to read about. But Rose, I just loved her character. She was so sweet, even through her heartache and the not knowing why things were the way they were. I loved her kindness towards Williams' mother. I loved her coming to understand her own mother better. And most especially, I loved her love story. I couldn't stop smiling while reading/listening to this one. I was hooked that I ended up finding it on my Deseret Bookshelf app and listened while I was driving and unable to have the book in my hands.

Content: Clean. Some kisses but nothing further.

I received a copy from the publisher, Covenant Communications, via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading!!!

I really, REALLY enjoyed this book. Loved the voice, most of all. It reminded me of Julianne Donaldson's storytelling...so charming and delightfully easy to sink into! I read it in a day. :)

Really, the only reason I'm giving it four stars (4.5, if I could!) instead of five is that when I hit the end, I realized that I'm not sure the heroine really grew or changed at all in the story...and that disappointed me just a little. I still completely and totally enjoyed the book...the romance was pitch-perfect and again, the voice--so charming! I wish there'd just been a bit more depth or some kind of emotional journey or character growth outside the romance.

That said, I am anxiously awaiting another book by this author. I hope another is on the horizon soon!

I loved this story! The story line is easy to follow and you find yourself rooting for Rose. The characters are easy to follow. The book mentions other sisters but we are only introduced to one. Would have been nice to meet the other sisters too.
