This was an excellent thriller with lots of clever twists and turns. I’ve only just discovered this author and will certainly be looking out for her books.

I have enjoyed Kerry Wilkinson's books in the past, and combined with an intriguing sounding blurb I found The Wife's Secret to be impossible to resist. I'm definitely glad I followed my instincts, because I found myself hooked from the moment I sat down and opened the first page. This might just be my new favorite story by this author so far! The writing is solid, engaging and makes you fly through the pages as you try and figure out what happened to Seth's wife and what she is hiding. And what a shocking history that is! I literally finished The Wife's Secret in less than a day and there were a lot of things I didn't see coming. The suspense is very well done and the plot and plot twists crafted in a way that will keep you guessing as certain aspects are only revealed towards the ending. I always love it when a psychological thriller manages to surprise me! And such shocking reveals at that... As for the characters: most of them are not exactly likeable, but somehow that didn't bother me all that much. I was too focused on the whole mystery around Charley, both around her past and her disappearance, to be put off by them. If you like suspenseful psychological thrillers, you will be in for a treat with this one.

I like Kerry Wilkinson's writing style and The Wife's Secret is no exception. Suspenseful, well written, shocking twists and slightly disturbing... There is a lot to love in this story and there is a lot to keep you on the wrong path for a long time. There are definitely plot reveals that will manage to surprise you before you reach the final page! The Wife's Secret is an excellent psychological thriller and a true pageturner.

A sad tale about a little girl, brought up by parents who mentally and physically abuse her. The parents are in the public eye and are thought to vibe perfect pArents, cook cooks, and brilliant on the tv. They have three children. But Charley was very attached to her sister.
Her sister knew the truth about their parents and tried to help as much as she could.
Until one day, Charley could not take the abuse any longer, and then we find out about the Willis curse.

The Wife’s Secret grabs you right away, the bride disappears at her wedding! The chapters take you back when Charlie was young to now. The ending was a surprise that I did not see coming. Can’t wait to read more book by this author. Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy.

Kerry WILKINSON is one of my favorite authors. I discovered her books on Netgalley and am always excited when another one comes out. The Wife's Secret is just as great as all of her others. Her character development is the best and her plot twists are always a surprise, and keep you guessing until the last page.

THE WILLIS FAMILY
-Appearance is everything
-The children are props to make the parents look good
-Parents are always under the public microscope
-Parents are always looking for the next opportunity to make themselves relevant no matter the cost.

HOW DOES THIS IMPACT THE FAMILY, WHEN YOU PULL BACK THE LAYER OF PUBLIC OPINION?

Charley has had a rough childhood. But, with her sister Martha’s help, she has grown into a lovely lady. She starts a business, meets Seth, falls in love and next a wedding is in the works.

Their wedding day was supposed to be one of the happiest days of their life. However, at Charley and Seth’s wedding reception, Charley disappears. No one knows where she has gone. This leaves her husband, Seth, wondering and worrying. Is it something he did? Did she leave willingly or was she forcibly taken? Where is she? What happened to Charley?

Unknown to Seth, Charley has been keeping a secret.

ENTERTAINING, ENGROSSING, PAGE-TURNING THRILLER

It feels as if I know the characters. Specifically, I can’t help but root for Charley and Martha. However, I did find Liam’s behavior troubling and irritating. I kept trying to figure him out. Very early on, I felt as if Charley had this heavy brick on her chest of secrets/untold truths that she needed to let go of. But she didn’t want to offload her secret until she had no other option.

IF YOU FOUND OUT THAT YOUR SIGNIFICANT OTHER HAS KEPT SOMETHING FROM YOU,
HOW WOULD YOU HANDLE IT?

It’s your wedding day! The happiest day of your life. For Seth that was certainly the case. Life is beautiful!

That is until his new bride Charley disappears from the wedding reception. How does that happen? No sign of her anywhere. Is this a bad prank? Or is she missing because of a decidedly far darker reason?

The Willis curse

Charley was the daughter of a famous couple. Fifteen years ago she survived an unthinkable night of horrors when her parents were murdered in their home. The killer… never caught. Over time, Charley has done her best to put the scars of that night behind her and create a new life for herself. Did the past just catch up with her?

Told in the present from Seth’s POV, the past told from Charley’s.
As the time lines and storylines dovetail together, will it bring any crucial clues as to what happened to Charley? Or will she hopelessly fall victim to the dreaded family curse? The Willis curse.

This is the third book I’ve read from Kerry Wilkinson and still have one more waiting for me on the shelf. Kerry always weaves consistently great tales that keep you engaged and entertained, and always reading that “one more chapter.”

I was a little off my game of deducing plot twists! Always appreciated, many slipped by my highly- trained eye, leaving me with some unexpected surprises! And who doesn’t like a surprise!!🤷🏻‍♀️

A buddy read with Susanne 🌸

This is my first read by Kerry Wilkinson and I have to say that I am hooked. I loves this story and the way that it was written. I can't wait to go back and read others from Kerry now!

Your wedding day is supposed to be the happiest day of your life, but for Seth, things take a strange turn of events. His new bride, Charley, disappears and no one saw her disappear or anything suspicious. How can that be when the wedding was at a hotel and there was another wedding going on at the same time, surely someone had to see something. When Seth's mom that is battling dementia makes a comment about seeing Charley by the windows in the hall, everyone thinks she is just speaking out of her mind again and doesn't take her seriously.

Charley has had a very difficult past. When she and Seth decide to get married, Seth thinks that he knows all he needs to about Charley. Seth knows that Charley had a traumatic event that took place with her and her family, but she doesn't talk about it much. Seth respects that. When Charley was 13 years old, she went to live with her sister Martha because her parent's had been murdered in their own house. The Willis's were famous TV personalities and were respected by society as being the mother and father for the public. After their TV careers ended, the Willis's wrote books to stay in the spotlight. It was all about the public image for them. The kids had to put on a good front if anyone came to the house as well. The public could never know how things really went in the Willis household. Poor Charley was just another stunt to get some attention brought back on the family and her parent's didn't really want her.

When the parent's are murdered, the kids each get a good sum of money and are supposed to split the house but their Uncle throws a fit and the house ends up being held up on the sale of it. Martha uses her money pretty wisely, Charley can't get hers until she turns 18 and Liam (the brother) end up just blowing all his money going to Hollywood. Liam comes back and asks both of the girls for more money and they are not willing to give it to them. Little does anyone know that this will come back to haunt the girls in the end.

This is a great story that will have you turning the pages as fast as you can to find out what is going on. I could not put this book down once I started it. I had to know what all had happened to Charley and if she was going to be found or not. This story held my attention the whole way through. Not once did I get bored with any of it. I highly recommend this read!

Thank you NetGalley, Kerry Wilkinson and BookOuture for the free e-book in exchange for an honest review.

Charlotte Willis was thirteen when her parents are murdered in their own home with her just upstairs. Years later, Charley Willis is marrying Seth and everything has gone beautifully until at the reception, Seth can’t find his bride anywhere. No one saw her leave, but yet the morning after it’s clear that Charley is missing. The nightmare is just beginning for both Seth and Charley, and Seth is about to find out many things he didn’t know about his new bride.

I was so into this novel right from the get go, I sat down and read half of the book in one sitting because I was so interested in what was going on. The synopsis of the book makes it sound like a lot of thrillers out there, but this is anything but! I really enjoyed the writing and the dark atmosphere of this particular novel. I also really enjoyed the characters and how Charley is portrayed as someone trying to stay out of the limelight because of her past. I also really enjoyed that the book went back and forth from Seth’s point of view to Charley’s, but in the past. So it’s slowly leading up to telling you what kind of a life Charley had before her parent’s death and after her parent’s death.

I really enjoyed most of the Willis family members and hated the other half. I love a book that has a character that I can just hate with passion. I enjoyed the short chapters with the articles from the past scattered through out the novel. This was a tension filled, suspenseful novel that left you wondering what the heck was going on. I felt bad for both Charley and Seth because of the situation that they have been put in.

4.5 Stars for Kerry Wilkinson's The Wife's Secret! This was my first book written by Ms. Wilinson and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This book was filled with on the edge of your seat mystery which I absolutely love. Your wedding day is the biggest day of your life right, but what happens when you vanish on your wedding day? Was Charlie kidnapped? did she run away? Did she decide that marrying Seth was the wrong this to do? Or is Charlie just a run of the mill runaway bride, you'll have to grab a copy of The Wife's Secret to find out just what goes down. I look forward to many more adventure with Ms. Wilkinson at the helm. Thank you Netgalley for this opportunity.

Complex and interesting book, told from different points of views and different time frames.I like this technique if it is done well, and this was ,as much as I was enjoying reading a chapter in one time frame I was eager to get to the next chapter and read that as well.the book went by really quickly, and although I did work some of it out,I couldn't predict it all.I thought it was great, and I really enjoyed reading it .definite 5 stars from me and thanks to the publishers and netgalley for an ARC.

Bizarrely compelling. None of the characters are likeable or even very detailed. A story of family, desperation and greed is really all I can say about this book

A newlywed goes missing at her wedding, and you won't believe what comes afterwards. I finished this book in one sitting. I HAD to find out the ending. Ten stars to this author for uniqueness of plot, character development, and an ending you won't see coming. Highly recommended!

Charley's parents were killed when she was thirteen and now she has disappeared from her wedding reception. The search for her is told alternating with her first person account of her childhood.

I couldn’t put this book down and sped through it quickly. I thought the ending strained credibility a bit, but that didn’t take away from my enjoyment of it and would recommend it for anyone who enjoys psychological thrillers.

A strangely weird story going backwards and forwards in time relative to the age of the main character. A very surprising end but a very good read, throughly enjoyable.
