WOW what a read! Every time I read one of Kerry’s books I’m impressed but I think this may be his best yet. Seth and Charley get married, best man is pissed, Bride’s niece is a bridesmaid, normal everyday stuff, until the Bride disappears before they’ve cut the cake or had the first dance. And then it really begins . Brilliant plot, a twist I’d never have guessed nor wanted to believe. 5 well deserved stars

This book kept me up, was sucked right in wanting to find out what happened. Awesome twist. Didn't want to believe it.

An excellent psychological thriller that will keep you reading well into the night. The question of how well you know your spouse is answered in these pages, and the frightening answer is maybe not at all. Should an unassuming veterinarian marry someone with a notorious past without asking questions? Yes, seems a reasonable answer if the past is far in the past and the future seems bright. This story gives a frightening look at the consequences of trust.

I read The Wife’s Secret in less than 2 days – I absolutely loved it until the very end. More on that in a minute. The book starts with the wedding of Seth and Charley. I immediately was drawn to the characters – Alice and Seth’s poor mom, who is heading down the path of dementia, but knew more than anyone gave her credit, and Seth’s two drunk friends Raj and his brother, and Seth’s sister, Alice. When Seth realizes Charley has left the wedding, the twists start happening. This book really is a page turner – literally. Seth has no idea what has happened to her. Did she change her mind? Is she hurt? Was she kidnapped? Has the family curse struck again?

Charley (Charlotte) was 13 when her parents are murdered. Her big sister, Martha, takes her in and raises her and is my favorite character. The book starts in the present, but goes back to the past to the murders and tells the story from then, leading up to present day by alternating between Charley and Seth’s points of view. The book goes fast and makes you want to keep reading to figure out what’s next. Seth never asked about Charley’s past. To me, that seems a little hard to believe, but really makes the story work. I gave this book 4 stars and would have given it five if the ending had been different. After such a dynamic story, I felt the end was a bit of a letdown. None the less, this is a great book!

Even though I found some parts a little predictable I still found the plot gripping, to the point where I read it in 2 sittings.
I shared an empathy with most of the characters and a hatred for a select few. Kerry Wilkinsons writing style has made me feel like this with her believable characters in her other novels, this one is definitely no different!
Easy 4 stars! a must read!

That story was a bit unsettling and tragic. The story does offer up a few surprises and twists. The characters were interesting, some completely evil! At times some of their actions were odd (Seth’s lack of reaction to his missing bride?!?). The story is told by multiple narrators and flashbacks.

I liked the ending but it did leave things a bit open ended. I would have liked to see where the remaining characters end up, say, a year from now?? Just a little epilogue to give me the closure I so crave. My first read by this author, I would recommend.

If you haven’t read any of Kerry Wilkinson’s books then you are in for a treat to catch up on the back catalogue of books he’s published.

I’m not sure how he manages to make each book so different and still maintain the drama and want to finish the book to see what twists and turns arise.

The Wife’s secret follows a newlywed couple where the wife just disappears and rocks up a couple of days later with no real explanation about what happened. Seth begins to realise that maybe the past shouldn’t stay in the past and he should actually find out more about his wife’s family history- especially when there have been murders and deaths that are unexplained. A nation’s favourites who are not whom they seem.

Seth is a loveable character - caring and kind - whereas Charley may not be the lovely character he thought he married. When family and money is involved, who can you trust?

Believable characters, a well thought out plot and another fabulously written book from Kerry.

Oh yes she had a BIG secret! Seth and Charley got married but Charley disappeared at the wedding reception and couldn't be found anywhere. Did someone kidnap her? Did she decide the marriage was a mistake? What happened? What wife disappears after the wedding and before the marriage even starts?

This was a great mystery filled with tension and intrigue. Charley had quite a past that Seth didn't know about and it was fun discovering what actually happened. I liked both Seth and Charley and kind of felt bad for both of them. This was well written and the plot certainly kept my attention.

What secrets can someone keep, even from their closest loved ones. Charlie has not been completely honest with her new husband, she hides secrets about her childhood and Charlie vanishes from her own wedding. A twisty novel that will keep you engaged till the last page.

I've really enjoyed Kerry's stand-alone novels and I do intend to read his Jessica Daniels series at some point as well! The Wife's Secret is probably one of the best I've read so far. Thrilling and compelling, a real page turner from start to finish.

Annie and Paul Willis are household names. Or at least they were. Annie was a tv lifestyle and fitness guru while Paul presented shows like Wheel of Fortune and car magazine programmes. But now, with their careers fading with their ages, Annie and Paul are clutching on to their last 5 seconds of fame. Annie has a new cookbook coming out, Paul is 'looking at his options', they've written an autobiography, and of course they had their late child Charlotte who arrived 9 years after middle child Martha.

But when Charlotte is only 13, tragedy strikes as a mysterious killer murders Annie and Paul while Charlotte hides upstairs in the wardrobe. The nation is devastated. But of course none more so that the three grieving children.

Years later, Charley (as she is now known) is marrying Seth, a local vet. She's left the past far behind her and is looking forward to a new beginning away from the media and publicity. But during the wedding reception, Charley disappears and nobody knows where she's gone or what's happened to her. But Seth soon discovers that he doesn't really know the woman he married at all.

As I mentioned in the first part of the review, this was a real page turner. The characters really came to life on the page and the reveals were slow and delicious. I did kind of figure out the big twist early on which to be honest doesn't usually happen with Kerry's books, but I still hugely enjoyed it none the less.
I'm looking forward to seeing what Kerry comes up with next!

It’s Seth and Charley’s wedding day but during the reception Charley disappears. Charley was the daughter of the famous TV celebrities Paul and Annie Willis who were murdered in their own home whilst thirteen-year-old Charley was hiding in her wardrobe. Has Charley walked away from her marriage or has the ‘Willis curse’ returned?
The enjoyable thing about reading a Kerry Wilkinson novel is that no two are the same. ‘The Wife’s Secret’ is an involving thriller with a unique and complex plot, some amazing twists and turns, and a surprising ending that I didn’t see coming. It had me gripped from the beginning and was so easy to read that once I’d started I couldn’t put it down. This is an excellent novel that’s well worth reading.

I enjoyed this book, although I wouldn't go quite so far as to say 'jaw-dropping twist' as I had worked most of it out by the time of the great reveal. I read a lot of books and once again the relative with dementia was featured but this time the part was small and realistically written. There was also a look at how today's technological world deals with missing persons, stories from the past and the ease with which everyone can intrude on someone's grief should they let them. I would have liked a little more of that angle to be honest, to see how all encompassing it could be.

The main character in the current day storyline, Seth, seemed a bit detached from what was going on around him which is to be expected. He was led by others throughout but didn't seem as devastated as I would have expected. The best parts for me were those dealt with as flashbacks written as magazine articles which could be compared to first hand accounts. The illusion created by the celebrity 'fly-on-the-wall' expose of sharing things with everyone was very well done and I really enjoyed reading these chapters.

Overall this is a good book, there are a few flaws but they didn't spoil the experience.Thanks to Netgalley I was able to read an advanced copy of this book and would definitely try others by this author who was new to me.

Her parents, Annie and Paul Willis were brutally murdered in her their own home, with Charley hiding in a closet, mere feet away. Charlotte, as she was then called, was thirteen years old. Her sister Martha, nine years her senior, has raised her ever since.

Though Charley’s family tragedy was in all the papers, Seth never asked her about it, figuring their life together was all that mattered. Now of course, with her having disappeared, he realizes his mistake. Where is Charley? Who, exactly is his wife? These are questions Seth does not know the answers to and with every passing day, Seth becomes more afraid of the answers.

Talk about a nail biter! Imagine being Seth.. is your spouse a runaway bride or has she been kidnapped? This is a novel that made me glad I wasn’t married! Ahh!

“The Wife’s Secret” by Kerry Wilkinson is an intriguing, tension-filled mystery. It has short chapters which add to the suspense and made it so that I couldn’t swipe the pages on my kindle fast enough. This story is told in alternating POV’s between Seth in the present and Charley in the past, which is highly effective. What can I say except that this is a must read for mystery/suspense lovers.

Overall, an enjoyable book. I enjoyed the moving back and forward between the past and the present. I did guess the twist over 'whodunnit' but I enjoyed how the book was left with questions hanging over the ending.

Seth Chambers is celebrating the happiest day of his life with the love of his life Charley. After the wedding ceremony at the reception Charley just vanishes. Where has Charley gone? Is it related to the death of her parents fifteen years earlier?
I have to say that I am a fan of Kerry Wilkinson and have read most of her previous novels. This was a great read and I would recommend it.
Can’t wait for her next book.

This is a great psychological thriller which is difficult to put down. It’s the sort of book I had to keep reading to find out what happened but I also didn’t want it to end. A rollercoaster read of twists and turns that keep you guessing but I have to say I guessed wrong at the end. That to me is the sign of a great book. I thoroughly recommend this book.

This was at cracker of a book! Hooked me from the start, solid narrative with twists and turns that kept me turning the pages long after bedtime.
