Great read! 4.5 stars. I loved the setting and the author did an excellent job of creating atmosphere.

I loved how Evie and especially Nick fought their growing attraction. It was fun to watch the sparks between these two.

I think the author did a wonderful job with the psychic aspect to the story. It was easily understandable plus Nick’s reaction rang true.

I figured out the villain fairly early on but it didn’t diminish my enjoyment of the book. The suspense along with the developing romance had me turning pages until the end. I enjoyed both aspects of the story and look forward to more stories. I would love to see what happens to some of these other characters.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book through NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I received a copy of DARK WATER on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to the publisher and author.

Five stars and here’s why:

I loved it. DARK WATER hooked me from the first page and held my interest until the very last word. It’s a fast-paced story and the smoking hot chemistry between Evie and Nick kept me up until I finished the entire book! Can’t wait to read more by this author.

What I found truly engaging about DARK WATER is that Tricia Tyler invites the reader on a cat and mouse chase through New Orleans. Plus, the author made the story’s setting another character and that captivated my attention from the get-go.

DARK WATER has everything you’d want in a book:

Small town life: check;
Louisiana folklore: check;
A smart and sassy heroine: check;
A totally twisted killer: check; and
A hella-hot FBI guy: definitely check.

If you enjoying amazing writing about a sassy, talented woman, a hella-hot FBI guy, and a bunch of twisted plots along the mystical bayou, then DARK WATER is for you. Highly recommend.

This is the first book I've read by Tricia Tyler, and I felt like the book was well written and well edited. I really liked the suspense element of the story. Personally, I struggled a little more with the romance aspect because I just didn't feel a great connection between Nick and Evie, or with them. I felt more connected to Remy. Again, though, I think it's just a personal thing. I liked the author's writing style enough to read the next story in the series (assuming there will be one). I was really hoping Gumbo would get the bad guy in this one. Maybe next time. ;-)

Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for providing an ARC for review.

What a great story, good character development and so many twists and turns! Funny, sassy and suspenseful-all the things I look for in a romantic suspense novel. Can't wait to read more from Tricia Tyler!

Despite the blatant lack of topless male, the cover captured the story perfectly. The story dark, eerie, and uncomfortable and the cover made me feel all those things. This book had everything I could want in a romantic horror title. There was a serial killer, a psychic, a good-looking FBI agent.

I find myself faced with the awkward challenge of trying to review a book with twists and turns aplenty and not give anything away. Let me tell you, it's harder than it looks. I was surprised when we discovered the identity of the killer, exactly who he was targeting and why.

Dark water was an engaging tale that took us to Louisiana and immersed us in the culture and environment unique to the area. The atmosphere and beliefs common to the area make it the perfect setting for any book with a paranormal twist.

Speaking of paranormal twists, I often avoid them. However, I have to give the author credit for this one. Although our female lead is a psychic her abilities weren't over the top. Truth be told I was worried about that. I knew I had to read it as soon as I saw the cover, but often paranormal books have me rolling my eyes and stomping my foot at how over the top they are. Anyway, the psychic abilities are present throughout the book, but they're not over the top.

Overall, Dark Water was a great book to cozy up with on a rainy fall day. I would recommend enjoying it with a mug of hot chocolate and a cozy blanket to hide under during the really scary bits.

The bayou and psychic abilities reminded me of the HBO show True Blood.

Story: Psychic Evangeline has the abilities of a Psychometry, aura reader, and mediumship. Her cousin, a detective, has asked for her help reading a crime scene. Evie has a gift that she rather not use with law enforcement. However, when it comes to helping people she can’t resist especially when those people live in the same town as her.

FBI agent Nick is a cynic when it comes to believing a psychic can use a sixth sense. Yet they had an instant connection despite his doubts.

Overall: I was not expecting this to be a romance when a crime has taken place. My mind was set on finding the killer. Instead the story set out to prove how psychic abilities are beneficial in more than one way. I wasn’t prepared for the direction of this story.
The investigation took a backseat to the romance. It was hard switching gears from the initial discovery of a crime scene to focusing on the kinetic sexual energy brewing between the two main characters.
I really wanted a fast paced thriller. Instead I got a seductive romance with a killer on the loose and these two busy building a relationship.

I appreciate Tricia Tyler for writing a unique story about psychics, yet I found this had more to do with convincing the FBI agent that Evie’s psychic abilities work. I wanted Evie’s time spent on investigating the case by using her abilities.

LOVED this book! This is a fast paced story that hooked me from the very first page and kept me hooked until the last page. Evie is a psychic in Louisiana whose cousin is a police detective that asks her for her psychic help. Nick is an FBI agent recovering from an injury when a friend asks him to assist them with their murder investigation.

Nick doesn't believe in psychics and clearly conveys that, however, before long Evie has him questioning his beliefs as they work together to try to stop a madman.

In addition to a compelling story and characters I cared about, the author was able to so clearly paint a picture with her words that I almost felt like I was there in the bayou visualizing what the characters were seeing and experiencing. I also appreciated the mysticism of the bayou and New Orleans that was such an integral part of the novel.

This is the first book by this author that I've read and I'm looking forward to reading more of her work. If you are a fan of the genre, you will love this book. Put this one at the top of your TBR list.

I love finding books that are ensconced in Louisiana folklore. This book checked all my boxes, small bayou town, psychic abilities, twisted killer, and a hot and angsty romance.

FBI Agent Nick Garrison is on medical leave and jumps at the chance to go to a little backwoods bayou town in Louisiana to help out the detective bother of his army buddy. Seems they have a serial killer on their hands who likes to mutilate women.

Evangeline Broussard is the cousin of Detective Remy Boudreaux and Nick's Army buddy Luc. She also happens to be a psychic who Remy goes to for help after they find the latest victim. This causes a conflict as Nick doesn't believe in psychics and Evie doesn't take crap from non-believers.

The sexual attraction between these two was as hot and humid as the weather. But these two did have to learn to work together as her abilities end up linking her with the killer who in turn now knows who she is and puts her in grave danger.

I am always excited to find a new author and after getting through this thrilling romance was happy to see that there will be more books in the series..

would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this amazing book

think north and south..more south with the plantations and the bayous... that gives you a little background to how i felt this book was

then think psychics and all that entails...the good and the bad

now realise 3 women a missing, 2 are found in the most gruesome way you can imagine

now enter a hot shot fbi agent,with baggage and an injury and that old southern charm of remy a police officer, who brings in his cousin who happens to be a strong psychic...

an entertaining read that kept me glued to the end so i could find out who the murderer was...cant wait for the next book in this series...well worth a read
