Told in a documentary interview/transcript style format this book is a hit! TJR takes us on a unique, spellbinding, emotional journey as we learn more about Daisy Jones & The Six. The characters jump off the pages and you can feel the emotion, turmoil throughout the entire book. I don't know how she creates such authentic characters but she does it well. The female characters are strong, empowering but deeply flawed at times. The relationships are heartwarming and heartbreaking all at the same time. There were so many lines and quotes that really made me pause and think. I took my time reading this and could have read another 100+ pages with these characters. My only complaint was Daisy Jones, Billy and co aren't real! I wanted to turn on the radio and hear their songs, go online and look at pictures of them. I am so excited to see this book come to life in the series adaptation. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Set your reminders - Daisy Jones & The Six will be released in March 2019. This book. It has a very Behind the Music/Almost Famous feel to it. It chronicles the rise and fall of fictional rock band Daisy Jones & the Six in the 1970s. It’s written in the form of one long interview, with band members, former crew members, journalists, etc. recounting their experiences with the band. There are plenty of highs and lows that will keep you hooked on the story and wishing that this was actually a real band because by the end, it felt like they could have been. The author did an incredible job giving each character their own personality and one of my favorite things about this book was reading how each person remembered certain events or had different takeaways from what was actually happening.

I can totally picture this as a television series, with flashbacks to the 70s interspersed with present-day interviews from each of the characters and performances of the original songs featured in the book. I’m really excited to see how Reese Witherspoon & co. adapt this!!

I was lucky enough to snag an advanced copy of this book and I tore through it. Taylor Jenkins Reid is a talented force and she brings yet another wildly fresh way to tell a story in Daisy Jones and The Six. Told like a fictional version of what one might imagine for the bandmates of Fleetwood Mac, it's engaging in a way so many books aren't. Can't wait to see what Reese Witherspoon does with this new series. Must hear all the songs.

I already expressed LOVING this novel: REALLY REALLY REALLY LOVING IT.....about a fictional rock band in the 1970’s - their rise through the ranks of the LA music scene - eventually becoming one of the most legendary bands in the world.

Taylor Jenkins Reid is not a novice author. Her other five books:
“The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo”,
“One True Loves”,
“Maybe in Another Life”,
“After I Do”,
“Forever, Interrupted”,
Are ‘all’ genuinely - emotionally - passionate books that make readers *FEEL*.

I’ve been thinking about “Daisy Jones and The Six” for days:
.....the story, the creative structure, the characters as individuals and in relationship to one another: written superbly!!!
As for ‘emotions’.....and ‘reflecting’....I’m still engaged — as this soulful novel is more than drugs, sex, and rock-n-roll......its a novel that speaks to our own losses and loves. This book broke my heart and mended it. The authenticity of these mult-dimensional characters have us relating to how similar & universal our inner voices are. It becomes totally clear yet so complex to understand how we can love somebody but not be happy with the way things are.

This novel’s achievement is deeply moving - irresistible- and the real beauty is that it FEELS TOTALLY ALIVE....made with REAL VIBRANT ENERGY!

There are written songs - that I can’t wait to ‘hear’. The mini series can’t come fast enough for me—-I’m a fiction-rock-band-book-groupie!!! Guilty pleasure- out of the closet!!!
While reading this novel - there were parts where I wished I had bought tickets to the live show —
I would have given anything to hear Daisy and Billie sing together. A couple of times they were soooo vulnerable- you could cut the air tension with a knife.

Bottom line..... extraordinary......brilliant....heartbreaking...depth....and beauty.


LAST..... some thoughts as to ‘why’ I think Taylor Jenkins Reid is popular...with ‘strong-loyal-fans’......( I admit to being one of them - having read every book she has written)

This book is EVERYTHING!!!!

I’ve made no secret about the fact the that Taylor Jenkins Reid is one of my top, top, TOP favorite authors and Daisy Jones & The Six is a perfect example of why! From the author’s note in the beginning of the book, I already knew I better buckle up because I was going to be taken on one hell of a ride! And boy what a ride it was—Daisy Jones & The Six will definitely go down as my 2019 favorite!

In true Taylor Jenkins Reid fashion this novel is completely original and ingeniously written! What hooked me initially was the extremely well-crafted characters—I was so emotionally invested! The plot was multi-layered and I found myself not being able to put my kindle down because I was desperate to find where these characters were headed. Daisy Jones & The Six is a 5++++ star read that will carve a place in your heart and stay with you long after you’ve finished! I am always in awe of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s ability to move me, transport me and make me forget the world around me, but this book is in a league of it’s own—simply epic!

I freaking loved this book, much closer to a five. I was unsure of the first 10 pages but after that, all in.

Sex, drugs & rock ‘n roll, yet so much more if you’ve read Taylor Jenkins Reid before!

I DEVOURED this story told entirely through interviews of a famous fictitious 70s rock band. It was difficult to switch gears at first with this different type of narration, told strictly through interviews. Once I got over it, I found myself fully immersed in each & every POV of those inside & out of the band’s circle.

No one conveys raw human relationships amongst the bright lights of fame like this author does. I’ve never highlighted so many brilliant & poignant lines on my Kindle before. I will definitely be purchasing this for my own personal collection. This is a must read for TJR fans & music fans alike!

This book!! I really wasn't sure what to expect with Daisy Jones & The Six and one of the things I love about Taylor Jenkin's Reid and you never really do! Her last book, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo was surprising too and quickly got me hooked.

At first, I questioned the short interview style narration but quickly got used to it and it actually is one of the things I love most about this book. There are always different perspectives to a story and I love being able to see that play out as you go.

The characters were detailed and flawed, and all had parts of this fictional story that really stood out to me. There was love, addiction, friendships, family drama, and it all played out with depth and without the stereotypical pull, you might have first expected. The relationships were raw and Reid is skilled at portraying this and really connecting you to her characters, long after you finish her books. This one will stick with me for a long time! Thank you NetGalley for sharing an ARC with me, and also to Reid for writing another amazing book!

After having loved “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo", which is one of my all time favorites, I never thought another Taylor Jenkins Reid book would top it. I was so excited to received this ARC that it moved to the top of my TBR list. I LOVED IT and now is my favorite. I will definitely be purchasing a copy when released and telling all my friends about it.

Sometimes you read a book, and you think its so good, then you run across something like this book, "Daisy Jones and the Six", and it just leaves you profoundly moved. And that I was, in tears, actually at the end.

The book sort of reminded me of a Behind the Music interview, but dug way deeper into the interpersonal relationships. The book was fast moving, entertaining and emotional. You have a group of young people wanting to make it in the music industry, playing the typical bars and dives, and they decide to head to LA, and make their dreams come true. And that they did. Especially when they crossed paths with Daisy Jones, a
young, wild girl, who just emitted a cool, hippy vibe, and wiser beyond her years. Daisy had been hitting the bar scene since she was 14. Daisy wanted to be song writer and when she crosses paths with the band, The Six, she becomes that, and a lead singer. The book continues with the struggles of each band member, and digs into the professional and personal lives of the group, each having their own commentary through out. As the band's fame rises, so does their "Sex, drugs and Rock n Roll lifestyle," In the end, they question is it all worth it, as the fame takes a toll on their personal lives.

I used to rehearse speeches and interventions and consider flying to where she was and dragging her off the stage - as if, if I could just get the words right, I could convince her to get sober. You drive yourself crazy, trying to put words in some magical order that will unlock their sanity. And when it doesn’t work, you think, I didn’t try hard enough. I didn’t talk to her clearly enough. But at some point, you have to recognize that you have no control over anybody and you have to step back and be ready to catch them when they fall and that’s all you can do. If feels like throwing yourself to sea. Or, maybe not that. Maybe it’s more like throwing someone you love out to sea and then praying they float on their own, knowing they might well drown and you’ll have to watch.”

This book absolutely gutted me. There were so many passages that brought me to tears, that made my heart ache, that made my throat tighten and my lip quiver. This was so uniquely written, in the form of an interview with members from a one-time successful and popular band. it was incredibly interesting to read and so tangible that I thought for a moment I had forgotten my classic rock knowledge and forgotten about this enigmatic rock band that ruled the 70’s. But the best part about this amazing novel was how in-touch the dialogue is. Taylor Jenkins Reid really has her finger to the pulse. She understands about the complexity of love, the struggles of loving someone with an addiction, of loss and understanding. It was all-encompassing how amazing this book was. I have loved her before, and she made me sob my eyes out with The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and I did not expect anything less from this new novel. She absolutely did not disappoint, and I feel that maybe I love this book more than her last one. This is definitely in my top five favorite books of all time, it made me feel real, raw emotion, like I was living the rock and roll lifestyle myself. Taylor Jenkins Reid is definitely one of the greats - without a doubt. Thank you so so so much to Netgalley and Hutchinson for blessing me with this stellar book.

I honestly thought this authors previous book was my all time favorite.
Then i read this book. The characters, the story, the band.. all amazing. I wish there was an extra piece to know what came from the very ending but im happy knowing the possibilities are there. I cant wait to buy this to put on my read again and again shelf.

I think Reid is a fantastic writer, and this book was definitely well-written. It was formatted basically like a long-form Rolling Stone article, which I didn't love, but I can see how it would appeal to a lot of people. I do think that one of the big twists at the end was fairly predictable, but overall I would definitely recommend this book to big music lovers.

So as soon as I was approved for this one I immediately abandoned my other reads and dove right in. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo was one of my very favorite books last year so I knew I had to read this one right away. I had promised myself that I would wait to share my thoughts publicly until, oh I don’t know maybe the same calendar year the book is being released hahahaha but I can’t wait any longer, because you guys. This is an epic, phenomenal read that I will never forget. I’m scared to even try and write a review because no way can I do it justice but I have to try. Here goes!

The structure of this was amazing, it’s composed of oral interviews with the members of Daisy Jones and the Six and those people closest to them, so you have a large cast of characters to love. And I loved many of them. The band is clearly fictional but TJR has the uncanny ability to create these fake celebrities that feel so very real and authentic that you find yourself thinking, wait did I actually miss a huge band in the seventies called DJATS? She’s that good, I don’t know how she does it but she’s genius. Why are these characters so memorable? Because they’re so well developed, they’re larger than life and they just feel real. On top of outstanding characterization the story itself is a thing of beauty. It’s fun, wild, totally rock and roll but it’s also poignant, touching and incredibly moving. It is absolutely everything and it is a story for everyone.

If you’re a music fan in general, but especially if you loved (or still do!) music from Fleetwood Mac, Bruce Springsteen, etc this is a must read. TJR captures that era beautifully and will make you want to listen to it as a background while you’re reading. Once again this read like an epic saga of a group of people’s lives, an intimate inside look behind the scenes of band and I could not get enough of it. Also, Reese Witherspoon is making a TV show and I cannot wait! If you loved Evelyn you’ll adore this one as well, if you haven’t read Evelyn go catch up while we wait for it to come out and basically if you like reading in general just do yourself a favor and pre order it now. I couldn't put it down and finished it really quickly. I would love to see more books written in this format. The fact that it is going to be produced as a series by Reese Witherspoon is exciting because the whole time I was reading, I just wanted to see Daisy & Billy and hear the songs in person. Just as "This is Spinal Tap" introduced us to the rocumentary about a fake rock band ( if you haven't seen it, do so soon), Reid takes us on a journey through the lives of Daisy Jones and the Six, briefly the world's biggest band. It doesn't matter that much that it's fictional. It feels authentic. It's written in the style of a tv special with the band members reminiscing about the old heyday, each remembering from their own point of view. Maybe the interviews are conducted by a reporter or biographer, but that voice is almost entirely absent. The focus is on a mid seventies pop band with all kinds of complex relationships between the band members ala Rumours-era Fleetwood Mac. From the pop diva who was on the cover of every magazine before she wrote one lyric to the frontman who everyone puts up with cause he makes it work. From the married rock star to the dedicated career musicians who wish the band had stayed hard rock rather than soft pop. From drug addictions to petty jealousies, these characters come alive even in this unorthodox presentation of a novel. A whole lotta fun.

After having loved “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” I was excited about reading Taylor Jenkins Reid’s newest book. My excitement was followed by reading a totally original and totally engrossing mock-biography of Daisy Jones and the rock band she played with.

The book is a series of connected mock-memories told to a biographer by Daisy, her band mates and others in her orbit. The author manages to flawlessly blend those memories into a coherent biography of a shooting star who shone bright during a few years of drug fueled fame.

Somehow, each character is surprisingly well-developed. There are sub-plots, but Reid manages to make each one meaningful. I generally dislike books with so many characters and plots, but this is different, written by a master who blends them all together seamlessly.

And, at last all incorporated into absolutely perfect closure. I have one small criticism of the book, the author goes into too much detail about the technical aspects of the creation of a recording.

As a reader, I simply fell in love with Daisy, Billy, Camilla and the rest of the interviewees. The book absolutely spins a magical web that held me from start to very satisfying finish.

This is a must read, and if you haven’t read Evelyn Hugo, grab that as well!

OH MY GOODNESS. This book is an absolute whirlwind that swallows you up whole from start to finish.
If you took the movie "Almost Famous" and mixed it with the very best episodes of "Behind The Music," then you maybe you could get a fraction of the experience you get by reading this book.
Daisy Jones is young, talented, beautiful and wants to be taken seriously as a musician. When she meets Billy Dunne and the rest of the members of The Six, they join forces to become the biggest band in the world.
What ensues is a wild ride that gives you everything you could want from a book and more! There's never a false note, the story never lags, and you become so attached to these characters that it feels like losing a friend when you finish the book.
I loved the interview format, and the way the author shows that no two people remember a shared experience the same way.
It's an absolutely brilliant novel, and after reading The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, I thought there's no way she could write another book THAT good. But, alas, she did. I am completely in awe of Taylor Jenkins Reid and her ability to write complex, strong, and bad ass women.
Daisy Jones & The Six comes out in March, and I beg you to do yourself a favor and read this book!

Don’t you dare ask me who I love more out of Daisy or Evelyn. I will not answer that. I can’t answer that. I love them in their own special way. Oh my GOD! Omg. Okay, need to breath. I loved this! Daisy Jones and The Six is right up next to my favorite read which would be Reid’s previous book, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.

I got goosebumps people, GOOSEBUMPS. I’m not sure about anyone else, but have you ever heard someone sing and you’re just like daayyum and get the goosies all over? No? Just me, ok. That was me while reading this damn book! Multiple times.

This story is about how Daisy Jones and The Six formed their band in the seventies. An author is writing a tell all about the group. We have multiple perspectives from members of the band and close friends during their interviews. It just worked so well, I am huge fan of multiple POVs so of course I loved it.

Relationships, friendships, siblings and of course... sex, drugs and rock n roll 🤘🏼✌🏼 5++ highly recommend!!!
