Adam Ellis has done some of my favorite online comics that I've ever found. My favorite is not found in this book, and I don't know if I'm super behind on his comics, or if he's just been keeping all the good ones tucked away for this book, but I had never seen any of these. I was SUPER pumped because they are all incredibly hysterical.

He has a smart, sharp sense of humor, loads of self deprecating humor and second hand embarrassment. The trademark of any online comic, and it's done brilliantly. Beyond worth the read.

I wasn’t super into this book. Besides not being a fan of the general art style, I found a lot of the ‘relatable’ stories to be really juvenile. I’d recommend it for kids in the middle school to early high school age range.

Super Chill is a collection of former Buzzfeed employee Adam Ellis's webcomics. They feature Adam and some of his daily struggles and interactions from anxiousness about making a phone call, a fling with the "healing art" of crystals, his relationship with his cat, and more. However, the main theme is how Peal Millennial Adam is. And it's annoying. If this is how Boomers and others see Millennials, no wonder they think we're lazy, agoraphobic, children. Some may find Super Chill to be a mirror text, but for those who would see Millennials as a window, it distorts what the Millennial experience when they don't live in NYC or have a artsy-fartsy* job.

*I usually love artsy-fartsy, but this is just pretentiousness at its height. (And not, like, pretentiousness of yesteryear with high culture and posh-ness. No. More like pretentiousness with self-importance.)

Short and funny read. I definitely enjoyed it.
The cat parts were probably my favorite!

I really enjoyed Adam's comedic take on dealing with both anxiety and depression, I feel that it gives levity to something that more and more people deal with on a daily basis. Overall a funny collection of comics that was a delight to read.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley and Andrews McMeel in exchange for an honest review.

Super Chill is another of those books that I found almost worryingly relatable. Especially the parts about Gudetama and diet cola.

I've always liked Adams art style and this book shows it off gorgeously.

I also laughed out loud several times which is definitely a good thing!

I saw Adam Ellis comics couple of times. I like his art style. It was simple and funny. I enjoyed a lot.

Super Chill by Adam Ellis is a gag-filled comic loosely based on the author's real-life experience.

WHAT I LIKE ABOUT THE WORK
Though the art is eye-catching and neat, the writing is quite good - the understated wryness and honesty of the narration and dialogue bring out the best in this book.

DISLIKES
I did not get a few of the jokes. However, that might be due to my own default joke setting.

WHO IS IT FOR
People familiar with Adam's work will love more-of-the-same Super Chill. Newcomers who like reading funny comics strips will fall in love with the work.

Many thanks to Andrews McMeel Publishing for review copy.

** I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. **

If you love to swim in the pool of comics then you surely know Adam Ellis. No? okay! you may not know the artist but you will surely familiar with this by the grace of mighty internet –

Here, Adam presents Adam. One of the funniest and truest self in form of cartoons is here… in book.

I cannot praise enough of this book because every damn strip is effing relatable. we all have been there at one point and Adam chose to put it on paper.

Like when you are shy and cannot disagree with your hairdresser.( every effing time bro)

When you are an adult but still need your mom to get an appointment to get a haircut.

The honest expression and inner talk of your body that we need to pay heed of.

The motivation we need to invest on ourselves through peptalk to conquer higher self esteem and win adulting.

Adam perfectly shows how clumsy we could have been.

and how we consume favorite foods by believing self made myths.

and he introduced to us funny characters from other culture with which we can relate our soul.

He showed his obsession about crystals and makes you obsessive to have them too. (I want that Lemurian Seed Crystal badly)

That how every single time we pose for cute cool selfies but ended up looking like Golum.

and how the book Adam feels about real Adam.

I loved it. It’s a five star book for me because all the cartoons are so relatable with my introvert, low self esteem, lazy ass soul that I became sad and happy both after finishing the book. I am a huge Adam Ellis fan, stalk him and follow him on social medias and then this book give me some real super chills.
Will I buy this book? – Hell Yeah!
Will I recommend it to others? – to every adult ( but a non adult and introvert in inside).

A comic that acts like a slice of life, with all its comedy and wit. This is the kind of graphic novel I would use to introduce others to graphic novels.

I've been reading Adam Ellis' work for a quite a while now. I loved reading his comics on BuzzFeed, and more recently I've started reading his comic Books of Adam on Webtoon. So when I found out he was to publish a book with some of his comics, I was pretty excited.

Unfortunately, I was a little disappointed. I thought that most of the comics weren't that funny, and those I did find funny were the ones I already knew from Webtoon. Moreover, I found it hard to relate to a lot of the comics you can find in the book.

I did enjoy what I read, I love Adam's drawings and it's easy to identify his work, I guess I was just expecting more.

While some of this was hit and miss, I think as a non-fan of autobiographical blogging-style comics, this is by far one of the better ones. Some of the pages don't exactly nail the comical, but when he goes on a darker tangent – such as the hang-nail, or the trip to the dentist – he clearly proves a decent inventiveness; you're smirking as well as wincing at the same time. I think I liked it because the book is half inspired by life, half making for a gag – so it's a change from the full-on yuck fest, but it's by no means all "me, me, me". Well worth a look.

"Super Chill" by Adam Ellis was hilariously relatable. It was a super quick read in which I saw myself on almost every page.

I loved this little comic! It was so funny and omg so relatable. I mean anxiety is a big part of my life unfortunately and I could related to his drawings so much, it’s good to know we’re not alone in these kind of situations!
Definitely would recommend this book to a friend

I'm a fan of Ellis' work for months and never forget to daily check his tumblr & IG so I'm familiar with his weirdness.

Super Chill delivers its premise, like, imagine yourself an anxious person, but chill.

Yeah, that.

I might want Adam to dig more, but this is chill too.

I'm sure I've read some of the Buzzfeed comics before in the past, but I've yet to read any of the ones included in Super Chill. This was a good collection of stories no doubt inspired by Ellis's day-to-day, and on one level I can relate with regard to dealing with anxiety. Although my anxiety isn't quite the same, I feel that other readers will relate to Ellis. Life can be especially difficult, especially when you're hit with so many outside factors (even the smallest ones can cause an anxiety episode). Ellis doesn't try to offer a solution but instead a means of coping with the anxiety he feels.

The art style is quite unique and readers familiar with the Buzzfeed comics will definitely recognize Ellis's signature art. Overall I do recommend Super Chill to readers. 3.5 stars out of 5 stars

Super Chill is perfect for a fast and easy read, it's funny and relatable.
I liked some parts more that other but in general it's really nice. It was three starts for me

Okay, here's the thing, I totally was tricked by the title of this graphic novel, and thought it was going to have a more succinct story. Had I not been dumb, and read the summary I would have realized that it's a collection of comics from the author. Comics that don't really transition that well from page to page.

I have been a fan of Adam Ellis' work for awhile, I used to read his blog in college, so I thought this would be a perfect fit for me. However, this just didn't gel with me. Don't get me wrong, I loved the artwork, but it was basically like he had a bunch of random one-off comics and they just put them in a book together with no rhyme or reason for it. It just felt very disjointed, and there weren't good transitions from comic to comic. It just felt really sloppy to me.

I do want to say that a lot of the short comics were really relatable. As a person with a lot of anxiety some of these really spoke to me. Some just didn't work for me, but that was okay because usually they were only like a page long until I could get to the next one.

I think if you are okay with just having a collection of comics with no real tie-through, then you will enjoy this book. I think I just was expecting something more from this book. It was an easy read, but at the end I just thought, "Meh, okay, I'm done with that." That's not really a reaction I want out of anything I read.

*I received a free egalley copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
