Simple and easy to follow but with a lot of information to help start tracking a family genealogy. I enjoyed going through this and getting information without feeling like I was digging through too much information.

It's nice to have a resource that isnt dependent upon a paid online subscription. Diane Haddad offers readers lots of alternative methods to research their family history. Though I didnt necessarily learn anything new, I did benefit from this back to basics manual. The Family Tree Factbook is a great reference tool and I'm happy to include it in my library and recommend it to others. 3.5
I received my copy through NetGalley under no obligation.

Good start if you are interested in learning how to find information about your history. Has a lot of good links to find information for free as well as sites that will cost to obtain their information.

A handy book on genealogy, looking for details and stringing together mysteries. Worth getting if you don't know much about family trees.

this is a beginning guide to family history. It helps a beginner to trace their ancestor within the United States. There is a lot to this book. The best things to do is to take it one chapter at a time. This book can even help those who have done family research for a while, but may need a little push in the right direction.

a decent compilation resource (i.e. many lists), but not exactly comprehensive, it would be a great start for anyone just starting research on their family tree

With 224 pages, this book is full of fantastic resources for you to use to find your past relatives. My favorite parts were all the strategies to help, military records, census records, and any important dates can help. This book also helps teach you genealogy terms to help find info you are looking for. Since reading this book, I have found three more generations on my mom's side. Please enjoy this sneak peek and yes If your into genealogy this book is for you, and would make a great gift.

Thank you netgalley for the opportunity to review this material no matter if the review is negative or positive.

This is a great beginner guide to researching your family tree. The book is based on someone researching in the U.S. but there are some neat tricks and tips that would be helpful to people in other countries as well. A well thought out book that will be of value to someone beginning their journey.

This great little reference book is geared mainly to the U.S. but is still extremely useful to anyone looking for ways to delve further into their family tree. I have been researching my ancestry for many years and found it clarified many aspects of research. I found the website references particularly useful for widening as well as focussing my searches. A good reference for any ancestry research and a lot of useful information all in one place. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC.

As a beginner to learning about genealogy and building family trees, I have to say this is an incredible resource. There is so much here! Lists, reliable websites, definitions, what abbreviations mean, hints and tips, pages for you to fill in with your own information. There was just...everything. I can't say enough good things about it. 5 out of 5 stars.

A useful book that is packed full of avenues to aid you in your search for your ancestors. Only really useful if your relatives have lived or are in the USA, but not living there myself I found it helpful to continue an ancestral search when the relative had migrated.

Family Tree Factbook is exactly as stated. There are pages of useful information to search your family tree. They even note which sites require payment. This book includes many printable worksheets so you can organize the information gathered in a logical and presentable manner to share with relatives. I also liked the fact that they included a software comparison worksheet and DNA testing information.
This extremely useful reference book will definitely make it easier for anyone (U.S. based) researching their ancestry.

This is a really good resource. This book is mainly for those researching U.S history but it does give some insightful ideas as to where to look for information. The timelines as well are really interesting and useful.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy.

Family Tree Factbook by Diane Haddad is an awesome resource book for those who want to begin and for those who have already started the journey of documenting their family tree.

There are tons of hints and tips. Like the six myths to avoid. How many of us have heard that many immigrant last names were changed when they arrived at Ellis Island. Not true. The passenger manafest was created in the Country the immigrants were departing from so the Captain just handed over the manifest and Ellis Island employees just checked off the name! Who knew? Many immigrants changed their name after they passed through Ellis Island in order to sound more 'American".

The book covers different handwriting styles, how to figure out cousinhood, checklists to investigate for information, State fast facts, where to locate State Archives in each state, Key Geneological Libraries and Archives, sample record request letters, geneology websites and so much more. It is chock-a-block full of information

This book is a must if you want direction and valuable information in creating your very own family tree.
I would like to thank Diane Haddad, F & W Media and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
