This has a great story to it. Plenty of action and some great characters.
Where it came down, for me, was tone. You can feel that the story is being pushed into a darker place than the author usually goes to. The feel from the female lead was also, at least initially, too much like a vintage PI type of character. The paranormal aspects could have been further emphasised, too. The effect is to make the book feel as though it's having an identity crisis. Is it a lighter romantic intrigue, or is it something darker?

Yesss- I loved this book. I stayed up all night so that I could finish this book. Shelley is a cop that finds a dead body that soon disappears. No one sees it and no one believes her and they treat her like she is losing her mind. what will happen when more bodies are found? Will she redeem herself or are things not what they seem?
Will she be able to stop the killer and will she be able to deal with what she uncovers as she tries?
Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read and write about this story.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

Love the paranormal drama/romance stories. Shelley is a cop who found a dead body but after calling it in, the body was gone. So, she is deemed crazy and demoted.

Another body goes missing, and Shelley starts to investigate by posing as her twin sister in a Goth bar. Here she meets the mysterious Jake and the intrigue begins!

There is a large group of suspects and you don't know who the killer is and there are twists that you don't expect so the ending is great! It was hard to put down as I had to keep reading to see "who done it"!

3.5 Stars

Detective Shelley Caldwell comes across a dead body .. only it disappears before anyone else can see it. Her superviser immediately orders her to see a psychologist and pulls her from the homicide unit. Now another body has been discovered ... killed in the same manner ... by her twin sister, Silke. That body, too, has disappeared.

Shelley goes undercover in the place of her sister, a Goth bar where all sorts of strange people hang out. Some Gothic .. some vampire wannabes. She meets Jake, the bartender.. but who exactly is he and why is she so drawn to him?

There are plenty of suspects and twists and turns to keep the reader riveted to the story line. If you like Vampire/Romance/Intrigue you will like this. Although this is not my cup of tea, and way out of my preferred genre, it is well written with likeable characters ..some not so nice ..and some with a blood lust.

Many thanks to the author / Dangerous Love Publishing / Netgalley for the digital copy of this most interesting novel. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

This story is a mix of paranormal and crime drama which can be a complete bust or perfect.
Hot Case By Patricia Rosemoor has me on the fence because the author doesn't go all in with either genre instead she fences sits with both crime drama and paranormal which might leave a few readers feeling lost. The romance and sex is what is found in these types of books but doesn't take away form the story but doesn't add to it either.

The story doesn't set its self apart from others in this genre and leaving this reader uninterested in reading more.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher Silhouette Books for the advance copy of Hot Case (Detective Shelley Caldwell #1) by Patricia Rosemoor
