the second book in the Year One series, following on in the world where a pandemic has ravaged the globe with few survivors, some of which have mystical powers. I struggled a bit with this one. definitely not as good as the first book in the series, but still enjoyable. I found it dragged a little bit, but it did have many twists and action scenes throughout. will definitely read the third installment.

A strong follow-up to its predecessor taking us further into the new world. It reminded me in some ways of The Stand, but with a distinctly more feminine touch. It is good to read a post apocalyptic novel that is also filled with hope.

These two are the first books I've read by Nora Roberts (although I have read several JD Robb books) and I have enjoyed her characterizations, the romance, and the magical elements to the plot.

Really enjoyed this second book in the series, much more than book #1 but this is because the world is set up so well. So looking forward to book #3.

A powerful story....a possible future...after the Doom.
Just over a decade after the first book and the babies are growing up, they're the warriors of the future.
I strongly suggest you read book 1 to get a feel of this story.
This is a pretty dark fantasy, a bit heavy at times but I got comfy and dove in. Great story, wonderful characters, another winner for one of my fave long time authors.

The second book in this series it was well worth the wait, ticking most boxes for an entertaining and nail-biting read. Fallon is The one and her training begins the day she turns 13, there is magic and fighting skills to learn, weapons, warcraft as well as some hoops to jump through to become who she needs to be. We get to revisit the people from New Hope 13 years on and see how things are going for them. Everyone will be drawn into the fight; good verses evil and everyone will be needed to make a stand against the dark. I can't wait for book 3 to see what Fallon and her army take on to bring light into the dark.

Thanks to NetGalley and Hachette Australia for a copy in return for an honest review.

‘They said a virus ended the world. But it was magick, black as moonless midnight.’

This is the second book of Ms Roberts’s ‘Chronicles of The One’ trilogy, and I’d strongly recommend reading ‘Year One’ (book one) first. ‘Of Blood and Bone’ opens about a decade after the end of ‘Year One’. While most of the world has been destroyed by the Doom virus, the settlement of New Hope seems to be thriving. But elsewhere, vicious gangs of Raiders and the fanatics known as Purity Warriors roam. Those with magickal gifts, such as Fallon Swift are hunted.

On Fallon’s thirteenth birthday, she must choose whether to leave her family for two years to undergo the training required to fulfil her destiny as The One. The responsibility weighs heavily on her and her parents, but there’s never really any doubt that Fallon will accompany Mallick to be trained.

‘It came through the blood and the bone, of that she was certain, but not always from the parent.’

For much of the book we are with Fallon as she is trained. Fallon learns how to use her own magickal skills as well as acquiring new skills and new friends.

And that is as much of the story as I’m able to share without spoiling some rather special storytelling. Can Fallon Swift save the world? We’ll all have to wait for book three ‘The Rise of Magicks’ to find out.

'The waiting time’s ended.’

Book Two in The Chronicles of The One.

At first when I began Year One I was very surprised that Nora Roberts had actually written this book as it is so different that her others. Once I got into it I was hooked.

After reading the synopsis of "Of Blood and Bone" I knew it was going to be another great read. The paranormal elements are mind blowing. Fallon is grown up now and on her thirteenth birthday she must make the choice to join Mallick the sorcerer for her training. Two years from her family with the knowledge that she is "The One" and the weight of the world is on her shoulders.

The lessons she must learn on her quests to take the golden apple from the owl Taibhse, the golden collar from the wolf Faol Ban and the golden saddle from the alicorn Laoch will prepare her for what lies ahead when she goes to war.

In this book Fallon finds her connection with Duncan and Tonia from New Hope and her family is reunited with friends from before the Doom. Together they must gather more soldiers to defeat the Dark and mke their world a free place to live in.

I wanted this book to go on forever and was ecstatic to find there is a third book "The Rise of Magicks" coming out at the end of 2019.

Thanks to NetGalley and Hachette Australia for the opportunity to read and give an honest review of the book. A definite must read series by a brilliant author.

Quite frankly Nora is a queen, she can write anything.

This was another great book, the first book was grim and disturbing and this one wasn't to far from that but what the first book was lacking this book had.

I'm not going to sit here and write about all the spoilers and ruin it for all, I think you should defiantly pick this series up. now or when the series is finished. its a masterpiece and most of all Nora can really do no wrong.

This is very hard for me to write and say but this is the first Nora Roberts book that I could not finish and did not enjoy. I did not read the first book of this series but was given the change to read and review this book from NetGalley by the publisher so I decided to read book two first. I have read so-so… many of her books in the past but found this one hard to sink my teeth into I was offend confused with the plot or what was going on.
Of Blood and Bone is a fantasy/dystopian which is one of my least favourite Gene to read, and I am guessing it is why I had trouble getting into this book. I am a big fan of Nara Roberts and have read well over half of her published books in the past. I will give myself a few weeks and I will try to pick it up again.

Nora Robert's has done it again, thrilling, fast paced and a coming of age story with mega Girl Power, great sequel that started off well and went into depth on all the unanswered questions on the fate of Fallon and her rise to become 'The One', enjoyed the beginning of the romance between Fallon and Duncan, its going to be explosive. Great read cant wait for the next one..

At last I found out what happened to Katie and Fred and the babies, and all the others who managed to survive book one and make it into this, the second book in the trilogy. Let's be perfectly clear you must read "Year One" before you read this book or large chunks of it will be meaningless.

"Of Blood and Bone" is very much a middle book. It does not have all the fear and horror of "Year One" but instead it builds up the central characters and prepares us for the main event which is still to come. There are moments of danger but the author spends most of the book enjoying herself with witches, fairies, and fantastic beasts, which suited me just fine.

A fun book, easy to read and definitely magical. Be prepared for something huge in book 3!

The old world has ended and a new one has taken its place: full of magick - both light and dark, destruction and despair, courage, survival, strength and heart and simmering underneath it all: hope.
The hope that One would come to fight the dark and keep it at bay.
Fallon Swift, daughter of Max Fallon and Lana Bingham, adopted daughter of Simon Swift, is that hope that so many cling to - if she chooses to be.
Join Fallon Swift during her growing and learning years and watch as she transitions from child to warrior.
Of Blood and Bone, the second book in Nora Roberts, Chronicles of One trilogy, is every bit as enthralling, gut wrenching, heart warming and thrilling as the first book in the series.
The first two chapters alone had my heart in my throat and tears pouring down my face.
This book is an utterly captivating story and I can not wait to read the next book - the epic conclusion to this amazing trilogy.
Highly Recommended.

After reading year one earlier this year, it was great to get back to the world of Lana, and Fallon. I really enjoyed seeing Fallon’s evolution into becoming The One and the links between her family and New Hope. I look forward to seeing what happens next in the series!
