This definitely was an interesting memoir. It is different to what I expected but still total page turner.
I like Monique even though sometimes I disagreed with her. But mostly she is an interesting human being and I loved reading about her life and her girls. I was happy that she found happiness.
The main men are interesting two and I understand the loneliness even though I can’t agree with the cheating. At least not in secret.
All in all, this is an interesting memoir and I didn’t quite expect the life of a sugar babe to be like that. It definitely is an interesting life but also a hard life

If you want detailed sex, look not further. Like a lot of it. Almost to where you are like um please no more.
It had wit, a bit of humor and some tips you need to know about. Overall not bad but not great.

This is more than just a story about sex and money. Monique is now a single mother who is barely scraping by and most of her days are spent working instead of with her children. She finds a way to make some extra cash for awhile. She finds herself a sugar daddy. After a few nights of great sex and a wallet full of money, Monique decides that this is the best way to earn some extra money. Things come to a crashing halt when she loses her job as well as her child support. So Monique must do everything she can to pay her bills and feed/clothe her children. Told in a way that only the real Monique could, I was drawn in and fascinated by her true story. She has a gift of writing that had me so enthralled that I felt as though I was there with her. To young women out there that believe that their only hope is to find a rich man for money, this story will prove that you are worth more and can acquire skills to become anything you want to become. Thank you Monique for sharing your story with us.

Thank you to netgalley as well as the author/publisher for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to read and review this book.

After losing and replacing my broken Kindle and getting a new phone I was unable to download the title again for review as it was no longer available on Netgalley.

I’m really sorry about this and hope that it won’t affect you allowing me to read and review your titles in the future.

Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity.
Natalie.

Sugar babies, sugar daddies- this book is a memoir.insight into how the world of Sugar operates. A fun delicious read- and Monique is no ordinary sugar baby- she's a divorced mother of two dealing with all that entails. Definitely one for your TBR list

Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to preview this book. A woman becomes a "sugar babe" to help meet her financial commitments. The book was okay for those who enjoy this genre.

I just read the Sugar Baby series by Rebekah Weatherspoon and absolutely loved it so I was excited to read Sugar by Monique X and it didn't disappoint. I can't talk much about it without giving it away but I highly recommend it.

SUGAR: MY LIFE AS A SUGAR BABE - Monique X

INTRIGUING LIFESTYLE - 3 stars

Plot - 3 stars - I believe this is a memoir, although it's not exactly clear to me if this is fiction or non-fiction. In any case, Monique finds herself bored and discouraged after her divorce. When her children are with their father, she's on the search for something fun to do for herself and she falls into the "sugar" life. Soon it also becomes a necessity as the way she makes her living.

Writing - 2.5 stars - Although it's quite readable, the writing often seems disorganized and amateurish. I didn't find it totally off-putting, but I would stop from time to time and wonder about why she was writing so much about the dinner she had or other unimportant events. It actually seems like reading a somewhat stream-of-consciousness diary of her activities, with emphasis on the sex scenes.

Characters - 2.5 stars - Monique is OK, and she's chosen this lifestyle to satisfy her need for adult/male companionship Well, it happens to include sexual favors and the exchange of money. No matter how she describes it, that's the bottom line. No problems from me, but she apparently feels like she's going to be judged, so she justifies her choices much more than necessary. Her choices also seemed totally impulsive and sometimes reckless, despite advice from her escort friend. Rather than try to find a more legitimate job, Monique sticks with writing, supplemented by sugar dates. It seems pretty inconsistent and ultimately unreliable, especially since she has children to take care of.

Title - 3.5 stars - No secrets here, although if you don't know what the "sugar life" is, you won't get it.

Cover - 4 stars - This is actually a fairly tasteful cover to reflect the lifestyle and erotic nature of the book. I liked the bright white, which showcase the pink lips.

Overall - 3 stars - This book was OK. I didn't love it, but it kept me interested. My biggest problem was her total lack of self-preservation. How could she possibly think this lifestyle and her choices were anything but terribly dangerous? It was mind-boggling. Not only that, but with children to care for, this lifestyle was inconsistent and not particularly lucrative. All in all, I was frustrated by Monique's surprisingly naive choices and didn't find her life to be overly interesting or enjoyable. And the HEA wrap-up at the end tried to put a pretty bow on something that was pretty sleezy, to be honest.

I wish I had enjoyed this book more. I had to keep putting it down and come.back to it. The story dragged on.

Sugar by Monique X was a Steamy little read. It was definitely more erotica than romance so it was not my favorite read.

I wanted something different from my psych thrillers and this was definitely that! What an eye opening book to a much different world that I know.
Good summer beach read with some steaminess in there too.

I quite enjoyed this book. it had a bit of a diary of a call girl about it. the only thing i struggled with was the actual writing. some sentences did not make sense or the word used was wrong or missing a word to make a sentence. hoping that was only as it was a copy before publishing and will be picked up. wish it had more of an ending as to what she did next and how her life turned out

I did not realize that this book was more of a memoir than fiction. I was unable to really get into the story as I’m not a big fan of nonfiction.

I tried to get into this one but could not get past the first few pages. Poorly written and self indulgent.

This book was neither sexy nor interesting. I could not get into the story at all. There are better romantic/erotic stories out there. I would give this one a pass.

Sugar was a steamy book, which I like.
Monique might've gained a new fan in me! I can't wait to find out more books by her

Received this book through Netgalley. The description made me think this will be a very good book. Even the beginning of it was good. Then I had to stop at 10 percent. It was so repetitive and needed drama. It's a journal of of her dating her sugar Daddies. The ending was horrible I'm sorry to say. We never hear if she gets a happy ending or not.
