I received an early release copy of this journal as an ebook through Netgalley and this is my honest review.

I would highly recommend this book as a hard copy and not an ebook. I enjoyed the coloring pages offered at the beginning of each section and as an ebook these are pointless. The block letter illustrations are a great addition to any journal and these in particular are great verses chosen for each section.

This journal is broken up into 31 sections to complete in a month but each section could potentially take longer if the reader delves into each scripture individually.

I don't believe this journal is targeted for young kid; middle school or high school.... but may be better suited for older kids and even college age. I enjoyed the writing and the questions that were applied in each piece. It is a deep book and not for the faint of heart when deciding to study scripture.

I read some of this journal with my daughters and although it was above their age range I feel like it is something I will hang on to for them as they grow as a discussion tool. The scriptures used are also beneficial because after reading multiple Christian based journals and Bible study books I find that some scripture is used over and over again. This was refreshing as each section offers more than one verse.

The Devoted Life by Marjorie Jackson is absolutely brilliant! This book is a young woman’s devotional that also includes journal prompts and coloring pages. The devotions are divided into 31 sections each on their own topic. This makes it easy to skip around and read whatever devotion you need for the day.

Each section starts and ends with a picture to color. There is a verse before the devotional and also several “Scriptures For Going Deeper” after the devotional. Following the “Scriptures For Going Deeper” is the journal prompts.

I really enjoyed how the book features multiple journal prompts for every section. I also really liked that while each devotional had a single preceding it, it also had several after if you would like to read more. Both of these things make it so you can do a quick devotional and journaling session or you can really take your time.

I give this book 5 stars. It is creative, practical, and wonderfully written. This is a wonderful gift for any young woman in your life.

Marjorie Jackson has compiled a lovely creative coloring journal and topical devotional book in this volume. Beginning with an introductory word about our relationship with Jesus and the gift of salvation, the author encourages the user of this journal to take a journey with her to deepen that relationship and grow spiritually. The book itself is a soft cover of imitation leather and is just over 200 pages--pages that are filled with a variety of ways to be creative in being intentional in one's devotional life. There are 60 hand-drawn scripture verses pictures for coloring as well as a number of blank pages for one's own creative drawings or writings. The book is divided into 30 sections with each section having thoughts from the author, scriptures for going deeper, journal prompts to stimulate the reader's own thoughts regarding the subject of the section, and the coloring pages. Some of the subjects included are The Power of the Tongue, Doing It All Unto Him, and Why Share Your Faith and others that encourage thought about family, identity, and ministry. I like that this devotional journal can be an excellent choice for a gift to encourage a young believer or as a tool for a mature Christian to continue to deepen her relationship with Jesus.
I received a complimentary copy of the book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review. The opinions are my own.

Such a fun, helpful and inspiring devotional! I totally recommend this to all teen girls. The coloring pages were adorable and I was sad it was on my kindle and I didn't have a print copy lol

I am rating this devotional 4 stars but highly recommend it. While this book is available in print and kindle edition, I would recommend the print version as teens could not color the artwork on kindle edition. I like the journal prompts, it gives you a moment to think about what you had read.

Each entry includes a scripture, the devotional thought, several additional scriptures and then a handful of questions with space to jot responses as well as an image to color. Topics include relationships (friendships, family), identity, God's authority, prayer, reading the Bible, etc.

This devotional has a good format and good content, but I believe the reading level is too high for the target audience. I did a reading level assessment on three random entries, and they ranged from 11.1 (Junior year of high school) to 13.9 (end of Freshman year of college).

I had plenty of teen students who were strong readers and would have enjoyed a devotional like this, but I had plenty who would NOT have been able to work through the intricate text and would likely have given up. The questions were better suited for the age group (5.2-6.3 reading level), but even the beginning of the introduction to the book was written at a 9th grade level. Most contemporary fiction for adults runs in the 5th/6th grade range. I tested some random sample devotionals from two books for adults - Jesus Calling (5.2-7.6) and A Moment to Breathe (4.9-5.0) that fall in that range.

I think this would be fantastic for college students, and I believe the content would work for that older age group. And strong teen readers will be able to dig into this rich resource and get a lot out of it. But I think the writing may put off other readers who may struggle with it. I wish the book better reflected the full range of teen readers when it was put together.

What an awesome journal for young ladies. I love the practical devotion topics, and journal prompts. Each devotion includes scripture verse as well as additional scripture verses for "going deeper". Each section has artwork for coloring. I teach a group of young teens at my church and they enjoy coloring artwork such as the ones that are featured in this book. I think this would make a great gift for teenage girls.
I am rating this devotional 5 stars and highly recommend it. While this book is available in print and kindle edition, I would recommend the print version as teens could not color the artwork on kindle edition.
I received a digital version of this book from Shiloh Run Press and netgalley in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review and all opinions expressed are my own.

As someone who has been growing in my spiritual journey I think this is a great start for women of any age specifically teenagers along with it being a fast paced and short chapters. I like how each chapter ends with a journal prompt that relates to each section along with a cute illustration in each chapter that could be used as a coloring page potentially.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! This book is just what young Christian teens need and the kind of thing I would have loved a copy of when I became a Christian at sixteen. The passages included and mini activities are perfect! Huge thanks to Marjorie Jackson for creating this!

Thanks also to NetGalley and Barbour Publishing, Inc. for giving me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I have heard a lot of things about this author. Overall the content was good, but I just really was not a fan of the writing style.

This book is an excellent start to a teens spiritual journey. It’s packed with prompts, passages and thoughts that will keep the reader engaged.
It’s modern outlook will will allow kids to understand the importance of scripture, without needing them to give up who they are.

I didn’t enjoy this book. It wasn’t original in my opinion and there was too much of the author rather than the devotional and Bible speaking for itself. I didn’t enjoy or agree with the aithor’s Views on what was being said and I wouldn’t recommend this book.
