This is book three in the Shelter series and I would recommend reading the previous books before this story. Jesse and Addy have helped win the war but there are many unsolved issues between them and scientists want all women to move to the central base to help repopulate the earth. Addy needs to return to the shelter to get her thoughts together and understand Jesse's behavior. Not my cup of tea and I'm sure science fiction fans will love these books. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This series just keeps getting better and better. The realism, characters and situations add a special as something that's not often found in apocalyptic romance.

Excellently written with superb interactions, this book will keep you hooked from the first page.

Outstanding with an edge!

So suddenly Addy becomes a saint and everyone else has to grovel at her feet because they are not worthy. Seriously, Jesse has to spend the whole book trying to apologise for his mistakes while Addy is perfection and can do no wrong.

Yes, I was a little bit irritated by the direction the author took the characters in. It seemed an odd change from the first two books where Addy was just as imperfect as the rest of us and Jesse loved her for her courage and resilience, not to mention her mad sniper skills.

Like the last book, the end of the conflict was anti-climatic. There was a lot of build up to a big confrontation but when it happened it was underwhelming and over very fast and mostly off page.

That said, I didn't hate it I just feel that a bit more action and a bit less of Addy being wonderful would have made things more exciting.

A slightly disappointing end to a fun series but I do think this author has a lot of potential.

Ok, I'm going to give a two part review on this third book in Shelter (Return). 1) The first half, maybe two-thirds, continues right along from book 2. And its just as entertaining as the first two installments. Issues are met head on and issues resolved as our crew of Shelter fight to protect their community from a different kind of threat as in the first two books. And again, its done well. Entertaining. Ut Oh, then we get to a turning point.
2) At this point in the story there are only 1 or 2 unresolved plot threads. We surprisingly get to one of them quickly and deal with it just as quickly. Hmm, ok. So now we move on to the other known threat in our story, right? You would think so, but, unfortunately, wrong. Big time. From here the rest of the tale we have invested two and three quarters books to becomes almost un-readable. One of our main characters becomes a completely un-likable idiot and the other becomes a spineless fawning fool. Uck. Even the completely you-can-see-it-coming-a-mile-away conclusion leaves a glaring plot thread unresolved. Not even mentioned. Wow. What a shame because I was really enjoying the story, but, said issues above completely ruined the last book for me. Read it for closure I guess, but, don't expect to be satisfied.

I liked this book slightly less than the other two. I felt like the "conflicts" were rushed, I had to re-read a few times to see if someone died, or what happened, then another conflict disappeared, with no word as to what happened to her, if they did mention it, I missed it and it was so small of a mention that it didn't register. I just didn't see what the big deal about the main character was, she wasn't this strong girl, yeah she had a dark past, and went through some harsh things in this series, but to have this complete devotion from this guy who doesn't even strike me as any sort of alpha military male because of his lovey dovienss. I did enjoy this book, and the entire series, I just feel some more action could have been had, more worldbuilding.

Shelter, the return is the third and final book in this post-apocalyptic trilogy. This one was a quick and easy read for me. Here, Bridges has been defeated but we find out that it's not over. First, there's a rescue mission going on. I won't spoil you the book but in this third installment, we get to think about the repopulation of the planet and the different opinions on the subject. Even though the situation is bad, we shouldn't forget about human rights.

Overall, I really enjoyed reading this series. I really liked seeing the relationship between Addy and the Captain grow. The ending was sweet too!

SHELTER: THE RETURN is the third and final book in a series and at only 211 pages, is a quick, easy read.

Allyson Young is a talented Canadian Author and has written a great number of books, some written under her own name and others under her pen name: Elizabeth Scott.

Set in a post-apocalyptic version of the United States, Addison and Jesse  both survived the flu-like plague that killed an estimated 90% of the world's population.

Addison and Jesse have started a relationship which has been somewhat stormy, but they both have come to realize just how much they mean to each other.

Unfortunately, humans being what they are, there is always someone who wants what other people have and who would rather take it by force, than put in the work themselves.

The Bad Guy mentioned in Books One and two has been defeated but during the rescue, Addy is taken prisoner by one of his lackies.

Jesse is determined not to lose her and despite not knowing if she is alive or dead, he gathers volunteers to go with him on a rescue mission. But, will Addy survive long enough to be rescued?

The action is fast-paced and the story moves along at a lightening pace. Canadian Author Allyson Young does a terrific job of keeping the reader engrossed in the story.

If you are looking for a great beach read, look no further, the SHELTER Series is it.

Due to the graphic nature of some of the content, this book is not suitable for readers under the age of eighteen.

I rate SHELTER: THE RETURN as 4 out of 5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐ and I highly recommend purchasing the entire trilogy.

** spoiler alert ** This is book 3 in the trilogy and the series must be read in order for it to make sense as the trilogy would read as one book, story continues from book 1-3.
We start off directly after the events of book 2.
There is a nice surprise at the start of the story when we catch up with Addy.
The story is quite exciting, a lot going on along with some humour.
Jesse is so protective and caring of Addy and I liked the way his 'men' had grown respect for her and treated her.
I was a little disappointed.
I had expected more of a face off with the Major, whether that has been stored up for more stories, maybe, there is certainly plenty of material to take secondary characters into their own stories.

The blurb describes certain events but these didn't take place until quite late in the book and then I felt the book lagged, it was dealt with almost like an overview of events and I really felt quite miffed with Jesse that he took so long to finish so he could get her back.
The return then to me felt a bit rushed. She just understood and forgave him, to me this didn't work.
The pregnancy, although Addy had been insistent she wouldn't want all quickly fell in to place with everyone happy

Her only concern, along with the missing Jesse was her role at the camp.
The only other issue I have had with the whole trilogy is the cover, I thought Addy was described as having unruly curls ??
The trilogy was good as a whole but just missed the mark slightly with the ending.
