This is a fun Christmas book to escape with. Fun characters and a cute little town. A modern day Christmas Carol. I really like Murrays style of writing. I look forward to trying the recipes at the end of the book. I really love Hallmark movies but I love being able to read Hallmark books even better.

If you love any Dickens’ classic – If you devour A Christmas Carol during the Christmas season in any form whatsoever… then you’re going to fall in love with The Christmas Company. It’s just that simple.

There is a little world building, there has to be, yet once I had a good feel for the location and the characters I fell quite completely into this story. I could easily imagine a town that is Dickens obsessed and the anger, sadness and confusion at something so precious to everyone involved being threatened. Still, there are always two sides to any story and learning Clark’s reasons tugged at my heart and I really hoped for healing for this man.

Kate loves everything about Christmas, her hometown and the festival that is so close to her heart. And while the people of Miller’s Point are understandably angry and upset, Kate is seeing through the surface actions of Clark to something beneath the top layer that he so grumpily shows everyone. There is real pain hidden in this man’s eyes. As she sets out to show Clark just what the festival means to the community she’s also beginning to worry more about the man behind the decision. It’s probably foolish to dream that they might have a personal happy ending in all of this, but Kate isn’t going to to let that thought hold her back. She’s determined to save the festival, her hometown… and the man she’s come to love along the way.

The Christmas Company is an emotionally tender Christmas Romance that will certainly engage your emotions. I adored Kate from the beginning, and to be frank, Clark had to grow on me a bit but once I saw him through Kate’s eyes he stole my heart as well. If you’re looking for a feel good Christmas Romance that will grab your attention, warm your emotions and give you a very satisfying happy ever after… then I’d not hesitate to recommend this story for your Christmas reading list.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

This is a modern day spin on The Scrooge. Kate loves Christmas, can she convince Clark to love it as well. Kate falls in love while convincing Clark to love Christmas again.
Can Clark convince Kate that he is the one?

Kudos to Alys Murray for giving us The Christmas Company, a charming look at the small town of Miller’s Point, which transforms itself into a Dickensian Christmas wonderland for the holidays. In her new position as assistant to the Director of Festival Operations, Kate Buckner is devastated when Clark Woodward, the new CEO of his uncle’s company, abruptly cancels the town’s annual Christmas celebration. With the fate the entire town at stake, Kate challenges Clark’s decision and comes up with a plan to restore the cold, logical CEO’s love for the holiday. But nothing goes according to Kate’s plan, a plan that definitely did not include falling in love with Clark.

The Christmas Company delivers all the feels—the awe and joy of the season, heartbreak when the town loses its sponsor for the event that sets it apart from dozens of other Texas towns, hope for new love and defeat when things go awry and, best of all, the warm fuzzies that come with the happy-ever-after ending. I’ll look forward to reading more of Alys Murray’s books.

Thank you NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing for providing this ARC. This is my honest review of The Christmas Cabin. #TheChristmasCompany #NetGalley #HallmarkPublishing

If you love "A Christmas Carol" and "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas," you will find a lot to like in The Christmas Company, a sweet, reaffirming story from Hallmark Publishing.

Clark Woodward is a Scrooge who shuts down the Christmas Company because its losing money and, like the Grinch, he steals Christmas from Miller's Point, Texas. Kate Buckner loves the town and its traditions and will do anything to save the Christmas festival. She sees loneliness in Clark and helps him remember the true meaning of Christmas.

"Christmas is a spirit. Christmas is a way of treating people."

The Christmas Company
By Alys Murray
I wanted to like this book but it was so unrealistic to me and cliche. It was predictable and dull. I just could not get into this book and that was disappointing. I was looking for more depth and I found this book lacking. I imagine if you are looking for a simple Christmas romance this book is for you.

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

This was such a lovely story, a modern take on The Christmas Carol....Clark was kinda hard to like at the start, but you were with Kate all the way to try and bring him into the festivities

Would make a wonderful Hallmark movie

This was a very sweet Christmas story set about a small town whose whole lives revolved around their Christmas Festival.

When the owner of most of the town and benefactor of the town's Dickens Christmas Festival dies and his nephew Clark takes over everything changes, as Clark shuts everything down and says he is no longer funding the festival as it isn't cost effective and is losing money. Of course the town is in complete shock, especially as it's just before Christmas, but Kate, who has been part of the festival since she was a small child, decides that she can't give up on Clark and is determined to show him the spirit of Christmas.

Clark wants nothing to do with Kate or the town in general to start with, but she wears him down and his reasons for not liking Christmas and being a real grinch slowly emerge. He's really a very lonely man.

There's a misunderstanding towards the end and Kate gives up on Clark and Christmas, which I did think was a bit daft as she had devoted her whole life to Christmas and the town festival and then decided in one day she hated Christmas, but of course she soon changed her mind again.

Very sweet, light-hearted story about the true meaning of Christmas. Definitely a Hallmark movie sort of book and very Christmassy!

Love the book. Fun romantic tale that Hallmark is known for producing but a twist on Scrooge. Can't wait to see this book turned into a movie on Hallmark.

A lovely story woven around A Christmas Carol. Small town converts itself to Victorian England for the Christmas season. Then real life seems to meet with the story. I enjoyed the sweetness and romance of two lonely souls finding each other.

This magical Christmas tale has everything I enjoy about Hallmark Christmas stories: captivating characters, witty dialogue, an enchanting town, and sweet romance. I love how this story takes place over a couple of days. It's so easy to lose yourself in the town, characters, and story. I love how the town puts on a play of A Christmas Carol every year and the love interest in this story is a Scrooge himself. This is the perfect book to put yourself in the Christmas spirit and remind yourself of the true meaning of Christmas. I enjoyed the fact that there isn't a movie that goes along with the book. This allowed me to imagine the characters the way I wanted instead of picturing the actors in my head as I read the story. However, I really hope this becomes a Hallmark movie in the future because I loved it! I recommend this book for fans of Hallmark movies and Christmas fanatics.

All I can say about this book is that it is brilliant, addicting, memorable....

I picked up this book with medium expectations but this one blew me out of the water. I read this book in three settings. It drew me in from the beginning and would not let go until I had finished it all.

Kate lives and breathes Christmas. It's her favorite time of year when the town of Miller's Point puts on a big Christmas celebration. Only this year, things are about to get more complicated with the arrival of Clark, a wealthy businessman who is shutting down the Christmas Company and defunding the Christmas celebration. He's Scrooge and the Grinch all rolled into one but Kate won't have it.

Her vow to always see the good in people pushes past Clark's rough exterior. There's more to him than the monster everyone makes him out to be. He ruined the town's Christmas and now Kate is determined to get it back. No matter what the cost.

This book is definitely the best book I have read all year. This needs to be made into a Hallmark Channel Original Movie, definitely. I'm giving it five stars.......I wish I could give it more.

This book is rated PG for mild thematic elements including death and alcohol abuse. It's nothing to worry about though. This is still age appropriate for most readers.

What a fun book!! This book has drama, excitement and romance all set at Christmas. This is a wonderful feel good book, I can't wait to see the movie. The Sweet Potato Biscuits and Ham recipe at the end sounds delicious. Thank you Hallmark Publishing via NetGalley for the ARC copy of this book. This is my honest opinion.
