I just loved this book. It was so well-written that it captured my mind and I was dragged along for the ride. Once I started reading I could not put it down until I read the last page.

At eighteen, Tara Steele was young and restless, so she left the only man she’d ever loved behind to pursue an education and see the world. Now a nurse, she’s returned to Montana to help her aging parents, but when she discovers an elk carcass, she calls the local ranger to investigate. When Hunter picks up, she wonders if they will still have a spark so many years later. Tara is the last person forest ranger Hunter Beavers expects to see again. He’s never fully healed from their broken engagement, but has immersed himself in protecting the land and wildlife he loves. He’s determined to keep his heart and distance when they partner to investigate the poachers, but all of their lingering feelings rush back. Hunter may not be able to forget the love they shared, but he’s sure he can’t trust that Tara won’t go running off again.
This was a decent second-chance romance. It was short and sweet and quick. I had some issues with it but overall was worth the read. I recommend.

This would have to be my favourite Vella Munn story ever. It’s actually book three in her Montana Rangers series and I’ve yet to read the other two but if they’re as good as this one I’ll be diving in pretty soon. Needless to say that while this is part of a series, the story stands alone.
What I really loved about this story was the Native American elements that are threaded throughout. I loved the Salish traditions and beliefs that both Hunter and Tala referred to as they travelled their personal journeys to a happy ever after. Theirs is a story of second chances and healing and the Native American elements of the story tied in beautifully in bringing these two to a better understanding of each other.
The story is paced well — not too fast or too slow — and undulates gently, carrying the reader along with it. This is not a book filled with dramatic climaxes and tragic pits of despair. It’s a human journey of self realisation and personal development for both Tala and Hunter and I really enjoyed it.

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed this book but found it hard to relate to in places when the author discussed the Native American philosophy. I enjoyed the story between Tala and Hunter. It seemed Tala was under a lot of stress with her family as well as Hunter and Garrett. Tala has returned to Montana from Chicago, now a nurse, to work in the local hospital. She is strongly against the slaughter and poaching of animals for sports sake. At the beginning, she and her brother witness an Elk who was killed to take his rack. They had heard shots fired near their old family home. She reports it to the rangers which is now Hunter. Both are afraid to get involved again. They are thrown together over a search and rescue mission as well as thei attempts to locate the poachers. The story has a nice happy ever after ending.

Ranger’s Pride by Vella Munn is book number three in the Montana Ranger’s series. This is Tara Steele and Hunter Beavers’ story.

This was an emotional read. Tara and Hunter were engaged years ago. Tara broke up and left Hunter heartbroken. Tara is back and situations have them spending time together. Will Tara and Hunter get a second chance at love or is there too much heartache?

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This book was well written, and totally enthralling. It was filled with a long ago heartbreak and a rekindling of a love that has always been. Hunter thought he was over Tara until she walked back into her life. I voluntarily read and reviewed and advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Ranger’s Pride is a moving story interwoven with Native American lore and wisdom at its core and in the relationship of Hunter Beavers and Tala Steele. There were in love as teens and engaged until she abruptly ended it and left their Montana town. Her leaving left Hunter wounded and unable to leave the pain behind. Tala’s return stirs up both their deeply held emotions. The terrible death of an elk by poachers draws them together through the Native American roots they both hold dear.

I had the pleasure of reading an ARC of this book. It is the story of Tala and Hunter they were young and in love. Tala was restless, flitting from job to job. Grandpa realized she was searching for herself and told her so. He knew if they married now (Tala and Hunter) it would never last. Tala left to find herself.
It is now six years later, will they rekindle their romance? Read on and find out!

Ranger's Pride is a second chance at romance between former high school sweethearts. Now years later the one who left has returned to Montana. Vella Munn has written a sweet, heart touching story as Hunter Beavers works with Tara Steele to protect the wildlife in the area where he is now ranger.

The relationship focus is stronger than the mystery concerning the dead elk. It seemed to take a lot of manpower for this animal killer to be caught. Maybe if it had been clear that people were in danger of being shot by mistake or this was a pattern of poaching then it would have made more sense to me.

The relationship has drama, angst, grudges, and finally love. This is what Vella Munn writes so well. I liked Tara, understanding her need for education and a career that would make a difference, especially since many did not expect it. I also understood Hunter’s hurt but really they both were so young when the break up happened. I was thinking why hadn’t he done things any different if he was going to mourn the loss of the relationship for years? At least he comes around in the end.

This is a sweet second chance story and a nice addition to the series. It did have a couple of issues for me but they didn't take away from the overall story. Tara and Hunter have history. Both are Native Americans who dream of making more of themselves than what is in front of them. Hunter finds a way to do that while staying close to home by becoming a park ranger. Tara decides to leave to pursue her nursing degree and see a bit of the world. Now Tara's back and the spark that was always between them is still there burning hotter than ever and making Tara wonder whether leaving was the right decision. When these two team up to find a poacher that spark becomes a full flame and keeping their hearts out of it becomes harder to do.

Good read that I would recommend.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

This was an interesting second chance romance - usually I don't get or agree with the thing that causes the person to leave but in this case, I can understand why Tala needed to leave. What I didn't agree with was her not talking to Hunter and explaining this reason. Even when she returns home, she puts off giving him an explanation which never made sense to me.

The part with the killing of the elk was so sad and heartbreaking. I loved that Tala finally got involved and made an appeal for the poachers to turn themselves in.

I do have to agree with Hunter that Tala's aunt wanted her to have the house for an inheritance and she didn't need to share it with her family. I did like that she was helping out her younger siblings.

Lots of deep parts in this book that make you think along with the growing or regrowth of feelings between Tala and Hunter. That was a great HEA.

This is Tara Steele and Hunter Beavers's story.
Her eyes burning and her throat tight, Tala Steele brushed her sandals over the dead grasses behind the empty barn. She hadn’t intended to turn off the highway or bump over the narrow dirt road so she could see the place, but she had. Her dad had told her that the world had left the family farm behind. Its appearance shouldn’t have come as a shock, but it had.
Maybe it was the lack of color on the once-red barn, the rusted wire clinging to rotted fence posts, or the splintered stairs no longer leading to the small farm house.
But maybe, probably, certainly it was the memories.
I’m not going to bet on them making the delivery date,” Garret told Hunter as the two men headed toward their forest service vehicles. “We both know how busy the building supply places are this time of the year.”
Hunter shook his head. “That’s what the man I talked to said. I wish I could be more flexible about time, but I’ll never get everything done if I don’t keep at it.”
“Don’t give them any slack. Winter will stop you dead in your tracks. I don’t need to point out that I’m speaking from experience.”
Hunter shook his head. “That’s what the man I talked to said. I wish I could be more flexible about time, but I’ll never get everything done if I don’t keep at it.”

Ranger's Pride is an intriguing romance that blends Native American beliefs and folklore with two young people who parted ways when Tara decided to do more with her life and headed off for her education. Hunter never really got past the breakup with Tara emotionally although today he is a forest ranger with responsibilities that hit close to home for them both. When Tara returns home their paths will meet once again over the slaughter and poaching of a white elk on forest lands.

As always with a Vella Munn story, the writing is smooth, the plot interesting and the characters believable. Yet, frankly, I found that it was Hunter who had to do the growing up here - not Tara as he kept insisting. But that's how I took his words and actions when things got difficult between them. Interesting secondary characters and some known faces round out this story of a second chance at love... if this couple can get beyond their shared past and do some forgiving and understanding.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

This is a delightful and heartwarming second chance romance set in the beautiful Montana countryside and involving poachers, lost walkers, rangers, nurse and tribal beliefs. It is an emotive and engaging read as Tara Steele returns to work as a nurse in the hospital in her home town after six years away. She left suddenly, breaking her engagement to the man she loved, Hunter Beavers, without really explaining why. Now she’s back and wondering just how they’ll react to each other . . . .

This author writes great stories and this is another prime example of that! It has well developed characters who it is easy to empathise with and the plot has plenty of twists to keep you guessing. Even though I knew it was a second chance romance, there were times when it seemed unlikely things would work out for this couple. There’s secrets to be revealed, poachers to be caught and two ladies to be rescued in this adventurous romance which is just right for when you want an easy read romance to escape into!

I requested and was given a copy of this book, via NetGalley. This is my honest review of the book after choosing to read it.

This is a second chance romance. Tala and Hunter were a couple years ago and she breaks up with him and leaves her hometown because she wanted to do better with her life than what she was used to. Now she is a nurse and returns home to help out but really doesn't plan on staying. While at the farm that she grew up in she hears guns shots and sees elk fleeing, she takes pictures of what she sees and goes to the rangers office to inform them because poaching is illegal. While there she runs into her ex fiance Hunter and they decide to work together to find what is going on. Hunter annoyed he was back and forth with Tala, he claimed she needed to grow up and personally I thought it was him. So while they are working together they end up rekindling their love.
