A very well-written book with wonderfully-interesting characters. Worthy of your TBR list.

*I received a complimentary ARC of this book in order to read and provide a voluntary, unbiased and honest review, should I choose to do so.

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC of Lowdown by Anthony Schneider.

Unfortunately, after about 35%, this is a DNF for me. It started out strong, but it just got too messy. I couldn't keep timelines or people straight. There was just too much going on and I lost interest.

A very well written book but not what I was expecting to read. I'm not a huge fan of gang/mob genre but the plot was interesting and the characters likable

I didn't expect to enjoy this book as much as I did. I'm not a huge fan of the mobster genre, in either books or film. Lowdown gave me a new perspective and appreciation for that subject matter. This book grabs you from the first page and never lets go. There's crackling tension all throughout. A rip-roaring ride that I thoroughly enjoyed.

If you like Goodfellas, The Godfather, The Irishman, any tales centred around the mob, you're going to love Lowdown by Anthony Schneider. It is fast paced, well thought out and very well written. It's clever and engaging from start to finish. It will keep you up at night wanting to read more. The novel is narrated by two main characters, Jimmy, a mafia man who ends up behind bars, and Milena, an attractive young wife of a mobster. Whether ducking and diving or on the run from the law the pace of this novel never slows down. It's a great real that I really enjoyed..

Jimmy is an up and coming mobster. He is in the wrong place when a killing goes down. He is sent to prison for the crime.
Jimmy has left behind a woman who belongs to another and he can’t get her out of his mind.
After completing his sentence and dream of getting even and Finding Milena he has to decide what to do next.
This is an interesting inside view of the workings of the crime family.
Love can really last through the years.

We’ve all heard the saying “the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.” For Jimmy Pacinni and Milena Cossutta the grass appeared greener to them. Little did they know that they were looking at fire ant infested crab grass.
In mobbed up Brooklyn, Jimmy was struggling. Intelligent and savvy, Jimmy was leading a dead end life. The mafia seemed to offer opportunities. Jimmy joined.
Milena is a young woman who has dreams and yearns for security. Marriage to Vincent, a mafia prince seemed to meet her needs.
Jimmy and Milena are the two protagonists in Anthony Schneider’s novel Lowdown. Combining a riveting crime drama and a moving love story in one book requires skill and Schneider is up to the task.
We follow Jimmy and Milena as they struggle in the life they have chosen. Love, danger, violence, crime and prison and perhaps fate determine the outcome of their lives.
We come to care about Jimmy and Milena even though they have done things in their lives that are upsetting. Can they find redemption and happiness or is it too late. Schneider will keep you reading to the very last word. I received an advance copy of this book from NetGalley. #NetGalley #Lowdown

I am sorry for not reviewing fully but I don’t have the time to read this anymore. I believe that it wouldn't benefit you as a publisher or your book if I only skimmed it and wrote a rushed review. Again, I am sorry for not fully reviewing!

The Lowdown by Anthony Schneider
If you like to read about Mafia, love and blood this is the book for you. This book was interesting and easy to read, did not keep me on the edge of my seat but it tells the tale of Jimmy Piccini and Milena and Vincent DeNunzio and the gangster life they were leading and how Jimmy ended up in jail for 25 years...thank you Netgalley and the Publishers.

Any book that takes on aspects of the Mob have always fascinated me, and Lowdown is no different. Jimmy had a crappy life that led to him arranging for the head of a rival crime family to be executed--which landed him in jail. But Jimmy also has a forbidden love with married woman Milena, whose husband forced her to be on the run from federal agents. The way their story plays out on top of the connection with the Mob was just amazing. I loved this book!

Lowdown didn't have me on the edge of my seat devouring pages, but it wasn't a bad read. I would recommend to friends and family.

A romantic thriller about love, life, and the Mafia. Anthony Schneider paints a vivid picture for what life for Jimmy Paccini. I can't wait to read more stories from this author.

Thanks NetGalley for my ARC!

This book just wasn't for me. That doesn't mean it wasn't a good book. I just did not enjoy it. The subject matter was not something I was interested in reading.

I started reading this book and wondered why on earth I had requested it. But within a few short pages I was hooked. The story was amazing and I enjoyed the sneak peek into the life of mobsters. A great read!

I was excited to read this book due to the reviews. However, it did not meet my expectations. All of the side characters made it confusing and a chore to keep up with. I had a hard time staying interested in finishing the book.

I received this galley from NetGalley.

A great take on a forbidden love/mobster tale. Of course the ending is bittersweet, especially as the author was trying to make us believe from the start that a reunion would be impossible. All in all, it was a great read.

The book Lowdown by Anthony Schneider is story about about a young Brooklyn man named Jimmy Paccini. With no prospects for a legitimate career, Jimmy works his way to becoming a “made man”, in the Savino crime family. He is smart, confident and well-respected by his comrades. Enter Milena Cossuta a beautiful young woman who desires more in life than living in near poverty with her family. Her life changes when she meets a low rank mobster with a temper and plenty of cash to throw around named Vinnie DeNunzio. He gives Milena the life she has dreamed of with in the form of jewelry, fancy cars and nights on the town. During one of those nights on the town, she meets Jimmy who gives her something different and more meaningful, passionate love and respect.

Jimmy’s life changes dramatically when he organizes the murder of another crime boss and is then sent to prison for twenty-five years. While he is in prison he doesn’t forget Milena or the man who helped put him away. Meanwhile, Milena and Vinnie have problems of their own stemming from their illegal dealings and run off to Sicily together. While living in Italy, Milena becomes a new person and begins to see what she really wants in life. Vinny on the other hand, desperately tries to continue on with the illegal deeds he was committed in the States. The question readers might ponder is whether fate will bring Jimmy and Milena back again. Only times will tell.

If you are a fan of the TV show the Sopranos, then you will most likely enjoy reading Lowdown as much as I did.

Thought I would really enjoy this book, but I found it too choppy and no in depth characters. Couldn't finish it.
