Phebe Stark is a very driven woman. She has plans and goals, but sometimes even a determined woman reaches her limits. Brody Cantrell also had plans, but sometimes life takes you on a different path. Now he finds himself bartending in order to help his uncle’s bar. Before you know it, they are sexting and wondering what more they can have.

Let’s Talk About Sext by Evie Claire was an opposite’s attract story. Phebe and Brody had a push and pull relationship. I liked Brody right from the start, but it took me a bit to get into Phebe. They did not always work for me, but I loved Brody’s determination.

3.5-stars. Happy reading.

What to say about Brody and Phobe. They are total opposites but somehow they work in this story. Ms Claire had me cheering them on from beginning to end through all the ups and downs, some silly and serious moments and an ending that was so sweet. I really enjoyed Let's Talk about Sext and I hope you do also.

After reading the blurb for this one, I was hoping for a lighthearted, possibly funny romance, and I suppose it does fit that bill in part. The story has a pretty low angst level overall, and there are some amusing moments along the way, but it drags on much longer than needed for a story with so little drama. The story's biggest downfall for me lay in the characters, who are almost caricature-like with their personalities. I like a strong female, but Phebe takes that to ice queen level and is just unlikable, and she's so hung up on power and money that nothing else matters. She does redeem herself later, but it's just too little, too late for me. Brody is the all-around likable guy. He's laid back and easy going, so much so that he has zero ambition. Opposites attract is one thing, but these two are on such extreme opposite sides that they just don't work. They have great sexual chemistry, but they do so little talking that there isn't much to base a romance on. The only way they find out things is when things blow up in their faces, then they bother to explain later. In the end, I could see the 'buddy' status that starts it all, but I never felt enough connection between them to see any kind of romance.

This one was not my cuppa and I had to struggle to get through it, though I did since I received it as an ARC. There was something about this one that didn't ring for me, it didn't find it's rhythm and seemed to be more telling than feeling and after reading so many really good books this one just really dinged. The premise was good and I was rooting for Phebe and Brody to connect but didn't feel they ever really did. Just because it wasn't for me, doesn't mean it won't be for you. I may go ahead and try the next one in the series though...

This book took me on a rollercoaster of emotions that lasted me all the way to the very last page. Let’s Talk About Sext follows the story of Phebe a Type A/badass woman who makes her way to the top in a field dominated by men. I couldn’t be more happy to read this book because after the last book I read where the girl was cast as a 50’s sort of woman.. Phebe completely made up for it with her take charge personality. You would think that only an equal would be able to woo a woman like Phebe but nope! Turns out opposites do attract and Brody is the perfect compliment to Phebe. I loved the dynamics between these two and even though both characters made me want to pull my hair out at different intervals, I thoroughly loved this book!

3.5 – 4 stars

I found that I liked the idea of this story but sometimes I wanted to slap Phebe upside the head. Being an independent woman in a man’s world is hard but the way she treated people was a downer for me. She thought that money would solve all problems and she was never wrong. When she met Brody at his bar, she was drawn to him in a way she was never drawn to another man. She found that Brody challenged her by the way he accepted her the way she was.

Brody couldn't believe the woman sitting across his bar. She was a tough, independent woman and didn't take crap off anyone. He liked to challenge her because it seemed to draw them closer. When he tried to show her that life was about more than money, she would get angry and upset.

I really liked the storyline and was rooting for Brody and Phebe, but I knew she had to change for things to work out for them. This is a first for me from this author and I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

As a policy, I try my damnedest best to never DNF (did not finish) a book that I'm scheduled to review. So, I'll take a break or two or more if necessary in hopes that whatever's not working for me at that very moment will look more palatable later on. That doesn't always work, of course, which then leads to me having to give a book a not-so-great rating and a less than stellar review. Unfortunately, that was the case with my first-ever read from Evie Claire.

Let's Talk About Sext is the first in the series by the same name, and it's basically about a woman who thinks she's better than almost everyone else around her, including the guy that she's supposedly falling for. I'm all for strong women, whether it be in real life and in fiction. Who wouldn't want to break those proverbial glass ceilings and pave the way for other women in whichever field is ripe for the picking? I love women who have confidence and know what they're capable of. I'm not a fan, though, of anyone who thinks she's God's gift to the rest of the world.

Phebe Stark (whose first name I thought was a typo because I thought it was supposed to be "Phoebe") was not likable. At all. I couldn't even understand why Brody Cantrell wanted to be with. At all. The woman had no redeeming qualities, and while Brody was okay, he lacked a certain degree of oomph to make him the sort of romance hero that was swoon-worthy. I didn't feel the connection between the two of them, and while there were certainly some entertaining moments, the lack of likability of the heroine alongside the missing chemistry had me taking timeouts. Sadly, Let's Talk About Sext just was not for me, but maybe it'll work for someone else. Two stars. ♥

"Brody Cantrell. Bartender, resident psychologist, and all around badass."

"Phebe Stark, budding CEO, day drinker and all-around ballsy bitch."

Those quotes pretty much sum up the two main characters. They are complete opposites, but somehow their differences only complement the other. She brings out a part in Brody he had been trying to deny. And he brings out a side in Phebe that she desperately needed.

Brody came from money, but he walked away from it all. He did what made him happy and carried on his uncle's legacy. Never in a million years did he imagine a woman like Phebe walking into his bar, nor could he imagine ever wanting someone like her, but he'd been drawn to her from the moment she sat down.

"He wanted to share this. He wanted to see the look in her eyes when he pushed into her - the ecstasy, the pleasure, the pain, everything. He had to know. Was this real or was she just having fun?"

Phebe was a woman in an man's world and she busted her butt everyday to prove herself, but she did just that. She'd created one hell of a reputation for herself, which led to a wonderful opportunity. One that couldn't have come sooner with creep of a boss. What she did not have time for was men. But when a bad day got worse and she found herself sitting in a bar in the middle of the day, she did not expect to find a crosswording sexy bartender who made her speechless.

"God, when that boy smiled so wickedly, it was everything. Like the sunshine decided his face was the only surface worthy of touching that day."

Let's Talk About Sext is the perfect mixture of sweet and dirty. I know I'll be daydreaming about pool tables for the unforeseeable future. It drew me in and held my attention, but there was just something that kept me from completely loving it and I'm not entirely sure I can place my finger on what exactly that is.

This book sounded really good and I had high hopes for it, but I just couldn't get into it. I tried extremely hard to like it but I had a hard time connecting with the characters and it felt almost like that had no true chemistry or feeling for each other. I really didn't like Phebe. I had a few choice words for her that I just can't say here because they aren't nice. And Brody seems to be a little too laid back. I don't know, I just can't put my finger on exactly what turned me off so much with this one. It's not so much a bad book, the writing wasn't bad. The story itself wasn't necessarily bad, it just wasn't my cup of tea. I'm not sure if I would re-read it but I'm sure someone else will probably love it. It just isn't for me!

Strong characters, good plot development and a bit of sauce and spice for readers of steamy love stories. The book contained well-versed writing, too. Will follow this author and recommend to readers who request colorful romance fiction.

4 1/2 Stars!

Phebe is on her way up the corporate ladder ... far from her roots as the daughter of an alcoholic mother. Brody has taken over the broken down bar his uncle left him ... far from the Ivy League education he left behind. But when Phebe gets fired and wanders into Brody’s bar, their worlds are going to collide and never be the same again. Is it really true that opposites attract?

I really enjoyed this book! The characters just seemed to come to life on the pages. I loved the way that Phebe and Brody just couldn’t keep their hands off each other and that neither one thought they were the relationship type. Even though there wasn’t really a lot of sexting (like the title would make you believe), the actual six between them ... well let’s just say it was well written. I would recommend this book and I can’t wait for the next book in this series.

I received an early copy courtesy of Random House - Loveswept through NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.

Brody has a bar he inherited from his uncle and is working to keep it running with mounting expenses. Phoebe has a MBA she earned from Wharton and is on the fast track to becoming a corporate officer for a major organization. They meet after Phoebe decides that a drink is better way to get over her difficult morning than the donut she was on her way to obtain. Phoebe is in a bad mood, has just been sexually harassed by her supervisor, and is not interested in a relationship with a bartender. Brody has decided that he is ready for a meaningful relationship and begins to work to convince Phoebe that they could be good together.
I love Brody! He is everything one could want in a book boyfriend and despite my issues with Phoebe I found myself rooting for the relationship because it was what Brody wanted and I wanted Brody to be happy.
The thing that I appreciate most about Phoebe is that after 5 years of harassment by her supervisor she decides to take appropriate legal action, she follows the advice of an attorney (that is very similar to the advice of advocates).
I did enjoy reading "Let's Talk About Sext" and plan to read "I Wanna Sext You Up" when it is available.

An example of how opposites attract and how people find love in the most unexpected of places. I loved the story of Phebe and Brody. She’s a ballsy woman who doesn’t take crap from anyone while Brody is a laid back hipster who gives Phebe everything she never knew she wanted. The only thing with this book that left me disappointed was the title; there wasn’t much sexting.

I really liked the premise of this book however I never felt a connection with these characters. I understand that for Phoebe to succeed she needs to be strong, independent, and take no crap. Sometimes though it seemed like she took things too far. I enjoyed Brody although I never understood what really drew him to Phoebe. Still I was cheering for Phoebe to see what Brody was trying to show her and accept what he was offering. Overall not a bad book, just nothing really wow about it either. Although not a favorite of my I think others might enjoy it and I would recommend it.

This was my first book by this author and wanted to like it but there were just a few too many things missing for me.

Phebe was really unlikeable for me. I love strong female characters but I hate when they feel like they need to down other people in order to show their strength. Sorry but that's the opposite of a strong character for me. The best part of this book was Brody. If only there were more redeeming things about Phebe, this book could have been great.

I'll give this author another try and hopefully I'll connect more with the next.

I had to pack this one in @ 22% and It took me over a week to even get that far. I’m sad to say that I could not keep going, I was getting a little bored and not connecting with anything.

I just can't get through this book. I hate leaving that I did not finish in a review, but I just could not connect with Phebe. Brody was likable enough, but even then, I could not plow through this book.

Some work, some don't. This was a miss for me.

This was just okay. I liked Brody, but had a really hard time connecting with Phebe. Not being able to connect to with the h stopped me from connecting with the story in general. It was hot, but there was no emotion for me.

"The kind of love that lasts is the one you can't control."

Brody and Phebe find themselves with just that kind of love. They share a passion that can't remain emotionless, a chemistry that consumes them even when neither one can see how they could ever be compatible for the long run.

Brody is a barroom poet, a bartender by choice who has no interest in the fast-paced corporate world where Phebe is determined to make her mark. Their romance is the stuff of legends - intense heat, stormy conflicts, a soul-deep understanding of each other that defies logic.

This exquisitely-written romance is tightly paced with memorable characters and laughs that pop up seemingly out of nowhere. It was thoroughly captivating, a story that deserves to be read again and again. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

It was nice to read a romance for once where the woman has a more high-powered job than the man. Phebe is very self-assured, and she is a super successful real estate developer. Brody owns a bar and the historic building it's in, which he inherited from his uncle. When Phebe wanders into the bar in the middle of a particularly bad day at work, the chemistry between the two of them is undeniable. I enjoyed this fun read, watching both characters discover things about themselves and step out of their comfort zones.
