The cover on the book is super hot and the blurb had me excited for reading this book. However, I could not connect with Phebe and Brody. I absolutely hate stories written in third person with alternating POVs. This story just dragged on without much dialogue between the characters and there was only two chapters with sexting in them. Phebe was a hard character to connect with because there's a fine line between strong and in charge and downright snobby bitch. She crossed that line one too many times. I really wanted to like this book but I only dragged it out for the review. Thanks for the ARC!

Let's Talk About Set is exactly what you think and it's perfect. Phebe is a high powered corporate real estate shark and Brody is an underachieving bar owner. Brody's got something Phebe knows she shouldn't want but needs anyway and Phebe is the perfect girl for Brody. This unlikely pair shows off what it means to care for someone against the odds and all logic.

3 stars for the cover, the idea and how much I wanted to love this. A strong woman is a good thing, a snobby and difficult to like, not so much. Our guy has great potential, has all of the good but I felt he never rose to book boyfriend level.
Could be just me so give it a go.

I personally think there should be a new troupe just having to do with texting. I think that this is a fun way to see characters flirt and it gives us readers a chance to see their thought process. This was the way I felt about this book. I loved these two characters but I also loved the games and discussions they would have during their texts.

These two characters were so different from each other it was fun to read. In this book, even thought they were opposites, they admired that other quality in the other.

Phebe is a ballbuster to the Nth degree. She works in a high pressure mans world and has to do more to prove herself because she is a woman. In many cases, this makes her come off as cold and harsh. Brody was able to see over that. He could see the woman she was so desperately trying to hide so she could be seen as an equal. Brody's laid back attitude and charm was what Phebe needed in her life.

While I mentioned above that they both admired their opposite quality in the other, it also made their fights much more. Phebe's gut reaction in a fight is to verbally hit below the belt and it take a strong man to be able to deal with that. Luckily for her, Brody is such a man!

I hate leaving negative reviews. I do. But that is part of the job of writing a book blog. You need to showcase the bad along with the good.

I did not like Phebe at all. From the minute she appeared outside of Brody’s bar, I got the vibe that she was a ball buster and a snob. My vibe was confirmed in the next chapter when she went from zero to witch on Brody. My dislike of her started around that time also. It grew and grew until the first breakup scene happened. That is where her true colors came out. She was a snob and was all about money. From that point on, I read her scenes a bad taste in my mouth.

I did like Brody but I thought that he was a pushover. I also couldn’t understand why he kept taking Phebe back after everything she put him through. I would have told her to go take a flying leap after what happened at the Boys and Girls Club gala.

Because of my dislike for Phebe, I couldn’t get into the sex scenes. They did nothing for me. If Phebe had been more likable, then the sex scenes would have been fun. But they were colored by her actions throughout the book.

I did like the secondary characters in this book. Phebe’s friends weren’t afraid to call her out and let her know how she was acting. When she told them what she said to Brody during their last fight, their reaction was the same I would have had.

I did appreciate the author trying to reign Phebe in. I did. But I didn’t believe that she changed in that short amount of time. I mean what she said to Brody was awful.

A bartender with Daddy issues

Who says that to someone that they loved? And over something that she had no business being a part of? What Brody did with that land was up to him. Not her. I would have booted her butt out of the door and blocked her number.

Which takes us to the end of the book. I know because its a romance, they are supposed to have a HEA. But in this case, I can’t see it happening. I have a feeling that Phebe and Brody’s relationship will be a quick one. Like a Kardashian marriage. I was left feeling unfulfilled by the ending. Which is something that I rarely feel when reading any type of book.

I would give Let’s Talk About Sext an Adult rating. There are explicit sex and sexual situations. There is language. There is mild violence. There are triggers. They are sexual harassment, women’s rights, talk of alcoholism and talk of parental neglect and abuse.

I would not reread Let’s Talk About Sext. I also would not recommend this book to family and friends. I would be open to reading more books by the author.

I would like to thank the publisher, the author, and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review Let’s Talk About Sext.

All opinions stated in this review of Let’s Talk About Sext are mine.

I was a little confused at first with the characters. I liked it better the farther along I got into the book. It was a good book.

Wow, I loved this book! You went thru so many emotions.
Phebe Stark is one hell of a smart woman. She went to school got her degree and is a commercial real estate executive. Phebe has been working on a deal that will surely get her the CEO position she’s been working towards. Except her immediate boss is an ass. He is constantly demeaning her and making sexist remarks. Walking out of her office she goes into a bar in the same neighborhood as her office, meeting an extremely sexy bartender. They hit it off, so it’s no surprise when he asks for her number, except Phebe changes one of the digits.
Brody can’t stop thinking about the gorgeous blonde so why not call her. Well she had the last laugh when he reaches a bait and tackle shop. Brody is not deterred, when he changes one of the numbers and surprise, surprise, Phebe answers the phone. So they start sexting and that develops into real sexing. Neither one of them wants a permanent relationship, so they set some rules. When she’s offered a position for the competition, Phebe is thrilled. However, her boss becomes a raging lunatic and fires her on the spot, good thing she recorded the whole incident, since now she’s pressing charges.
Everything is going so well, but Phebe has always been an independent woman and she says things to Brody that she later regrets. She needs to eat crow and apologize. But everything is not what it seems. There are twists and turns in this book that you won’t be able to put down.

When I saw the title "Let's Talk About Sext" I figured it was going to be a book where the main characters predominately communicated via sexts. Except, that could not have been further from the plot of this book. In fact, I think they sent about 4 texts (debatable if they were even sexts, really) to each other in the entirety of the book. Anyway... once I got over that - I had to get over the names of the characters. I feel like everyone has to give their characters these unique names with unique spellings and half the time it makes it a lot harder for me to really connect with the characters because I can't pick someone else with that name to think about as that character. While the male was Brody, which was normal enough, the female was Phebe. I assumed it was an alternate spelling of Phoebe. I kept reading it as plebe and I wasn't even sure what that word meant but I knew it wasn't a name.

The book alternates from her POV to his - she is a big successful rich business woman, he dropped everything to take over his uncle's bar and is barely making ends meet. The two seem to have chemistry from the moment they meet and end up entering into some weird FWB set up that was just stupid from the get go. But I guess without it the book would be pretty short. The romance parts were great, the rest kind of fell flat. Not the worst I've read but not the best either. And would it kill them to actually add the images of the emojis into the book instead of just the text descriptions of them? lol

I received a free e-copy of this book in order to write this review, I was not otherwise compensated. This book is being released February 19, 2019 from Random House Publishing Group - Loveswept.

Phebe is a smart, tough, and not always nice. She is fiercely independt and almost entirely focused on work. Brody is a small business owner who is just getting by - but is truly a good guy. They are definitely opposites - but they need each other. Brody needs someone to keep challenging him - and Phebe needs someone to bring her back down to earth,

The obstacles they face are almost entirely of their own making - and really its Phebe who is the instigator to most of the issues. Basically its her way or the highway - and there are no room for mistakes.

A lot oft he other readers had a strong dislike for Phebe - but I understood where she was coming from. I didn't agree with her - but I understood. Being a successful woman - particularly in the male dominated industry of corporate real estate, you can't really give an inch.

I liked it a lot - but I think it could have been an even better book 0 if the main characters had spent more time together - rather than on again off again.

This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises. I am looking forward to reading other books by this great author.

Oh man, what a huge waste of time.

The thing is, i love pink fairytales, where the men are alphas through and through and the women are NOT selfcentered snob bitches “with balls bigger than men”, as the heroine in this book describes herself.

First quarter of the book made me really hate Phebe and i almost quit right then and there.
She fights her attraction to Brody just because he’s a hipster lumberjack of a bartender and she’s a business woman, so very good at her job. Insert major eyeroll... 🙄
She looks down even on her few friends, thinks she’s better than everyone and basically there’s nothing to make her likable.

The plot is quite boring, too slow paced.

I was expecting so much more. Huge disappointment.

This is my first book by Evie Claire, and it did not work for me. I had trouble connecting with the characters and from there it was all downhill. The cover however, was hot!

This is a real opposites attract sort of novel. Phebe Stark is a ballsy, successful real estate developer who doesn’t take anything from anyone. She knows how to make things happen. Brody Cantrell is a laid-back bar owner who overhears Phebe chewing someone out on the phone and is immediately attracted to her. What starts out as a supposed sex-only relationship is never that for Brody. He’s trying to play a long game in winning Phebe’s heart, but her type-A personality keeps getting in the way.

Their romance is a bit of a reverse from novels where the guy is the one who is focused on the bottom line and doesn’t think he has time for a relationship so thinks hot sex is enough.

There wasn’t much sexting as such a title would indicate, but lots of hot and heavy sex, especially their make-up sex.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

Evie Claire was a new author for me and I was intigued by the blurb for Let's Talk About Sext. The story sounded unique and refreshing. There were a lot of cute moments and you could definitely feel the attraction between the characters.

Sadly, it didn't really work for me. One of the biggest reasons is the fact that it's written in third person. Had I known I never would have turned the first page. I never connect well with books written that way, but I did try to disregard that when thinking about my overall feelings. The book, however, just seemed to drag along. It stared slow for me and never seemed to get any traction. I really think if we could cut out about 1/4 of it things might get better.

Overall I found it, well, a bit boring.

The editor asked that we wait to get a new corrected version. I will revise my review once that is recived. I am adding this note because I didn't want the book to go against my lack of reviews. I also did enjoy much of what I have read so far.

Love this book! The story was great & so were the characters. I can't wait to read more books by this author.

I had a very hard time getting into the story. It's written in third person with long, uninterrupted paragraphs that meander around and go nowhere. I honestly wasn't sure what I was reading about until she finally introduced another character. I powered through and did finish this one, even though it was a bit painful. This was the first book I've read by this author, and I can't say I'll be looking for anything else from her.
