This book was a fun read. It had dark moments, but it didn't make you feel heavy and sad. It was very entertaining. I related to the overworked, tired, and pulled in all directions of motherhood, on top of a murder! A murder! I recommend this book as a good mystery that is quick and easy to read.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and I really liked the plotline and how the murder was unfolded through the literature references however I had issues with the characters.

Liz, the leading character, wasn't 100% likable in my opinion and this caused issues as it is told in first person. I didn't understand her husband George at all and his hatred of her sister who as a character I actually enjoyed when she was in the book! I found Liz slightly annoying and I felt her teacher colleagues weren't built up enough - I appreciate Emily was probably added in as a red-herring but she seemed to be mentioned a lot at the beginning and then just dropped off towards the end.

I would recommend this book as I did enjoy the overall story but I don't think I will actively seek out the next instalment.

Thank you to netgalley for providing me with a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

This book drew me in by the crispness of the language that Liz uses. She seems to be a really good English teacher. I loved her interactions with other characters. She is really a riot.

I really enjoyed the mystery in this story and the characters reminded me of many of my high school teachers and friends who are in the education world. The humor was a delightful surprise and came off naturally. I am looking forward to the next book in this series. I received a copy from NetGalley and the publisher and this is my honest opinion.

Teacher and, now sometime, amateur sleuth, Liz Hopewell finds herself with a mystery to solve involving a dead body, a classroom and a coded lesson plan. Enjoyable cosy with an edge. Well written, entertaining escapism. Will most definitely be looking out for more from this author. Recommended.

An easy enjoyable read. This is an easy relaxing read with some humour thrown in. There are some likeable characters and an understandable plot.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy.

I wasn't sure from the description if this was supposed to be a lighthearted style murder mystery or something a bit more serious. (I won't say cosy mystery as I have an almost irrational hatred of the term.) In all honesty, by the end of the book, I still wasn't entirely certain which it was supposed to be if indeed it was either.
On the whole, I enjoyed the storyline and the various characters. There was enough depth in the periphery people, such as Liz's husband George, (who, by the by, I did not like) to keep my interest in more than just the mystery. I didn't solve who done it this time. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure that I liked the big reveal, I'm not convinced that it actually worked. The buildup to that though, with the various deaths and clues that were given was ok.
Liz herself was a little annoying as an amateur detective, on one hand, she didn't seem to want to be involved and then the next second was actively writing lists of suspects and interviewing people. The police officer that she befriended seemed a little too willing to help her too.
I realise that it's always a difficult balance when it comes to this kind of story, we want our character to find out things, but it's not always obvious why people would be willing to tell her things.
Overall, this was a fairly enjoyable read. I did think that the mystery side of things did fall a little flat and as there is a second book planned, I'm not entirely convinced that I see Liz being the kind of person that falls into the ideal accidental detective character. It may be that she develops this side a bit further in the next book. There is certainly plenty of room for more to be revealed about her childhood and family.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Enjoyed this book but I wasn't as riveted as I normally am with mysteries. I wanted to find out who the killer was and if they would target Liz but I didn't feel a great amount of suspense. The main character (Liz) did most of the narration and often talked about things that didn't seem relevant to the mystery. This was partly why I felt it lost its suspense. It was a nice easy read with a mystery element and I enjoyed the writing style.

I really enjoyed this book. Our sleuth, Liz Hopewell finds one of her fellow high school english teachers dead in her classroom. Marcia Deaver was at all liked by her fellow teachers, but murder seemed a bit extreme. Despite warnings from the detectives on the case, Liz pursues finding the murderer. Laugh out loud funny at times, there was a real authenticity with the characters. I look forward to reading other books by this author.

Lesson Plan for Murder by Lori Robbins is the first book in A Master Class Mystery, and my first book by this author. This book tells the story of teacher, Liz Hopewell, looking into her coworker's death, which occurred at school. Nobody liked the dead women, and she was a lot worse than people thought. This book was not a favorite for me. I could not relate to any of the characters, or care what happened to them. I also found this book to be wordy. This book is not bad, it just didn't appeal to me.

I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Was hooked right at the start of this, was really intrigued to see where it was going. Got about a third of the way through and lost the interest and didn't care who dunnit. Didn't even skip to the end to find out. Someone with more determination might get further.

Very good mystery with all sorts of unusual complications! This book was definitely written by a real high school English , which is evident not only by the literary references, but also by the knowledge of personalities and problems encountered! The characters are quite believable and interact reaistically! Outstanding cozy mystery!!

I do love a new mystery/detective series and this looks like a brilliant start.

Set in a public school with new amateur detective, Liz Hopewell.

I like the author descriptions which make this a fun, snappy mystery with twists to keep the reader guessing.

I look forward to more mysteries with Liz Hopewell.

I am a fan of cozy mysteries but 'Lesson Plan for Murder' by Lori Robbins was not the best one I ever read. The premise of this mystery was great, I think using a school setting was brilliant. Also, the use of an encrypted lesson plan was a clever and original way to present clues.I think.'Lesson Plan for Murder' was a good story but I would have liked more character development. I wrote this honest review in exchange for a copy of this book.

Marcia Deaver is dead on the floor of her classroom at Valerian Hills High School. Nobody liked her - and most of them were glad to see her go and could have committed the crime. Elizabeth Hopewell was the unlucky colleague to find her body. It was her scream that bought the rest of the faculty, staff, and police.

Liz is as concerned as clearing her name as she is in finding the culprit. At that same time she seemed intent on destroying her marriage. The spends a great deal of time following Liz as she follows clues and develops a crush on one of the detectives working the case.

The author has presented a solid mystery. It comes across as a bit darker than the normal cozy mystery - as we begin to wonder about the state of the protagonist's marriage. But all ends well, the guilty party (all of them) is found and the marriage survives.

This reader found the book just a bit boring - taking a little over a week to read.

1. Would I recommend it - “Yes, as a good fall read.”
2. Do I want to read more from this author - “Definitely, YES!”

She is a bit of a klutz in her attempt at being an amateur sleuth, but she is also unrelenting even with her handicap of fears. Liz was slowly working her way in becoming a pest to her fellow teachers and also the murderer. An interesting and intriguing with lots of dramatic episodes, making this a fun read.

A cosy mystery with lots of red herring and certainly a page turner. It certainly is a book that keeps one interested and guessing to the end, although there are sparks of dawning in places - the ending comes as a bit of a surprise.

Lesson Plan for Murder by Lori Robbins is an enjoyable mystery. The main character had a distinctive voice. She spoke like an English teacher. The interactions between characters were believable, and it was fun to watch the mystery unfold.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

As an educator, I could tell the author was also in the field of education because of comments about lesson plans, faculty meetings, and especially Parker communication. Liz was a fun main character and I enjoyed seeing the intelligence of a teacher used as a silver of mysteries. I’m excited to see she will be back in a second book, LINKED TO MURDER.

Lesson Plan for Murder is the first book I've read by this author.
I found the story pretty good, but the characters were hard to relate to.
I found myself skimming some parts as it fell a bit flat and I was hoping that it would become better as I read on.
I volunteered to read and review an ARC of this book provided by the publisher and NetGalley.
